Sports Bar / Corner Bar

Post by mikkyx » Tue Sep 01, 2009 10:14 pm

Something discussed with friends at the game and heard from other people on the way out.....

I fully understand the financial reasons behind only opening one bar, especially expecting the attendance we had, but why open the one furthest away from where all the fans are going to be? Why not keep open the bar which is nearest the club shop, nearest the ticket office, on the corner of the South Stand?

Didn't seem to make a lot of sense to me, unless something's being done in the Sports that's keeping it shut?

Because the Corner Bar is by far the best bar.

Beat me to it. Corner bar is a much nicer place to drink, so maybe they thought people would be more likely to drink there?

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

That was the only real theory I'd formulated for it too.

Oh well, question answered! :)

Anyone know which has the bigger capacity? Might answer the question?

If the attendance is anything to go by I can't see that being a factor :D

I would guess the Corner Bar holds slightly more though.

the corner bar is by far the best of the two. Interesting to hear last orders being shouted at 7:20 though, is there some new rule whereas you cannot serve drink less than 25 minutes before kick off?

No, - because of the size of the ground it takes 15 minutes to walk from the Corner Bar to the South Concourse.

And the club didn't even put on a free shuttle bus to cover the distance :o

heres a question;

Why were the mince pies in the 3rd tray and not the second? I can understand the need for the club to keep all pies seperate but it was a full ONE TRAY away from where i was queueing and so time was wasted by the attendant having to move and pick it up for me. surely it makes more sense to keep all pies at the end of the queue so the attendant doesnt have to move?

Heres another one:

why the fuck does any of this matter anyway?! The bar was open!

wylam-ranger you can always change your season ticket and come into the West Stand where the Corner Bar is nearer to the West Stand and you can sit by Darlo Cockney and Darlo Pete or even be welcomed to sit by the Darlo Tykes.
