We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Attendance
DC is right
There are too many so called fans on here who post blind comments without even going to the game.
By all means ask for explanation but don't start to criticise what you haven't seen.
My input from tonight.
Good game which shows that the team is building on the progress from Saturday.
Chandler is a diamond - we'll lose him at Christmas to a higher league.
Thorpe can play and has found much better direction in his knockdowns.
Gall continues to impress with tireless running and he made our goal from what used to be a lost cause.
Nobody had a really bad game tonight.
Programme was rubbish compared with what we are used to for a league match.
S&K pie was fantastic and well worth the £2.50 (though I felt a bit guilty sneaking onto the concourse to see what the fuss was about)
The ovens seem to have been procured from WBA since their badge was prominent on them.
Turkey Bap at HT in the RG was delicious.
Players in the RG after the match
Chandler
Miller
Bennett
Plummer
Come on DARLO!

Re: Attendance
Ok, fair enough DC, didn't mean to jump down your throat there, it just appeared that you were generalising that any fans that miss odd games or dont go on a wild spending spree every home game are part timers, but yeah, its quite irritating when people that flat out dont go to any games and are able to (IE not the people that live hundreds of miles away) sit and critisize performances and attendances, they certainly have no right to do so...

Apart from the Wembley trip, no-one wants it - obviously not the fans, and you can be sure not many managers either. At least we won tonight - so it will bring some confidence back, but no-one should read anything into the attendance of what is a Mickey Mouse event. The Football League would be better off getting fans to play the earlier rounds, or do it virtually on a computer game... it might generate more interest.
The nonsense is that there was no league match on Bank Holiday Monday - which would surely have generated a bigger crowd.
The FL needs to give it a serious rethink.
Yes, it is a Mickey Mouse competition BUT look at the other attendances - I'm sorry but apathy from the Darlington population is the reason.

Re: Attendance
Fair comment mate, but the issue is Dagenham are still pretty fresh out of the conference, we on the other hand have been averaging around 3'000/4'000 for the last few years and all of a sudden have dropped to 1'800. Its pretty worrying, I thought those 3'000 were our hardcore support, I mean we were getting around 4'000 in our first couple of seasons at the Arena when we were shite, so I dont understand where everyone's gone over the last few years! Saying that I know of a few people that have basically switched horses so to speak and no follow premier league clubs, maybe that trend has grown.darlomilo wrote:didnt dagenham have less than we had on saturday and they are top of the league
Re: Attendance
A lot of the other fixtures had a local derby theme ( I counted 7) and whilst crowds were better than ours they were still poor, I think it's the apathy as well as the competition being poorly supportedRUMPLESTILTSKIN wrote:DAFTS wrote:The competition is a complete waste of time and effort - except for the two teams who eventually make the final. Re: Attendance
At least we were'nt the only club last night to have a sub-1K crowd. Hereford had 900 odd last night, think they were playing Bristol Rovers. The crowds were generally poor last night and the JPT is definately a competition that is declining in value.....apart from if your team reaches Wembley.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Attendance
Whilst I agree with some of the sentiment displayed by DC to suggest that we aren't fans if we don't buy a pie or a pint is ridiculous.
I personally didn't travel down because we moved house the day before yesterday and other things took priority, this being the first home game missed all season, does this make me less of fan?

Re: Attendance
Remember it was only the First Round. We haven't been in the first round since 2005-06 when we were beaten by Kidderminster. I'm sure once the rounds progress the crowds will increase a little. They were generally poorly supported last year with 1700 and 1300 against Huddersfield and Bury respectively who brought a bigger number of away supporters.
Got to say the Chicken Balti pie I had last night was delish It was piping hot throughout and well worth the £2.50. Topped off with a great performance, through to the next round with a bit of prize money. Hopefully we can go as far as we have the past few seasons
