In an effort to avoid problems experienced at the first home game in Car Park C, we're introducing a scheme to ensure all fans who've purchased a season ticket for that car park are guaranteed entry.

• The car park will be open to everyone 90 minutes before kick-off and 90 minutes after the game ends
• There will be 70 tickets available for purchase on the evening - £3 each - on a first-come first-served basis (please bring the right change)
• The paid-for car park tickets will only be available at the car park on the evening, there will be no pre-sales

This will allow all season ticket car park pass holders guaranteed entry. We will monitor the car park to assess whether we can increase the number of pay-on-the-day tickets, especially depending if it's an evening or afternoon kick-off.

Pete

May have been mentioned already but the free car park to the rear of KFC used for the first game of the season - is this open for all our games and is it free?

Anywhere that isn't that car park. Although Sainsbury's do have a clamping policy.

Tesco's is the stand out option, failing that you've got the industrial park close by who were also charging £3 a game or two ago... Not sure whether they're still doing that though.

But Tesco's is probably you're best bet.

I parked on the road in the ind est, 1st left of the main road, could take a good 50-60 cars I reckon, all free.

just a 2-3 min walk on the grass verge, there is a path on the otherside of the main road I found on the way back.

That's Car Park C isn't it?

I'll just street park and walk 10 minutes, it's no hardship. I can't see me getting to car park C in time for a place.

No it isn't Car Park C was completely different. We parked where the KFC customers parked.

Overview: http://binged.it/PyfqTF (yeah, Bing Maps - but they're more up to date than Google)

As I see that on my screen... (correct these if I'm wrong, add the ones I've missed):
Top left- Tesco car park, free
Middle - Sainsburys car park - restricted, do not park here
Just below this - ground car park - Car Park B - passes needed?
Right hand side, next to the two roundabouts - KFC and March Hare - both free?
To the right of those, just above the A688 marker - Car Park C - 70 pay on the day @ £3, after this, passes needed

I noticed something on that image - don't know if anyone can elaborate on what it is.

Due north of the ground where it says "Greenfields Industrial Estate" just to the right of those words there is an area which from this photo looks like it is a brownfield site. It this land still empty/how flat is it and how hard would it be to find out who owns it if it is land that could be used for car parking?

I make it a 0.7mile walk to the ground from this point.

I think somebody said that there had been dodgy parking in Car Park C? Is there any car park plan without white lines?

That's the old site for Keen Replica's (think he's the bloke that owns that Miami looking house on your drive in from Redworth way). It was knocked down a few years ago now, although empty and you can park along the adjacent road (I still think Tesco's is better - it's closer and more secure i.e. not opposite the back end of Woodhouse Estate!), I imagine the land itself has bigger potential than just being a car park.

I've marked on a street just along from the ground with loads of space for parking down both sides, so far in both the games at HP this road has been far from full.

Haha I think most land has more potential than just being a car park! Just thinking about Darlington town centre will suggest that!

Was thinking more of a temporary measure if the land is left empty at the momen (not sure how close to capacity we are mind and how much people are struggling to find parking)

I think there's plenty of other options around the ground without having to resort to building a different car park to be honest. Especially one which, although isn't a million miles way, is a decent stroll.

I'm quite reluctant to spend more than we need to given that we are just tenants there. If it did turn out that there was a greater need I think there are more viable alternatives closer to the ground, for example who owns the land adjacent to Car Park B?

I was going off an aerial photo with no idea what the land actually looks like in reality. I was working off an idea if it was relatively flat and in decent nick it cud be used as is, spending money definately not the way to go.

From the aerial photo it doesn't look in that bad nick compared to other areas I have seen used for car parking!

Yes princes town, there were a couple of cases of blocking other cars in. This was down to inconsiderate parking, and not the volunteers as (some) surmised.

There is loads of parking on the industrial estate, is it all double yellow lines/wheel clamping notices etc on all the roads?

To be honest I think although it's flat in places there's still a lot of rubble from the remains of the main building. It'd still need work.

I'm sure that is the case. I was curious as to how we could resolve this in future as I understand there are no white lines so the potential is there. I did wonder if there a case for 2 volunteers, perhaps one on gate and one in the park keeping things right, or is it really just common sense?

There again even white lines don't always resolve the problem as my work car park proved this morning.

It was probably down to too many cars being let in than people purposely blocking people in. Now they have a handle on numbers it *should* resolve itself.

Divas is right, we're looking to be conservative in allowing 70 paying-on-the-day cars in as we already have over 100 season ticket passes for Car Park C. Once the match is underway, we'll assess then for both an evening and afternoon game.

that sounds like a good way of doing it restricting numbers
