Re: Davey
Its not necessarily Davey leaving that guts me so much - altho he has been a breath of fresh air, but its the uneasy notion of something must surely not be right at the club if he's suddenly decided to leave, which certainly doesnt bode well for the future.
THIS FUCKING FOOTBALL CLUB GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS FUCKING FOOTBALL CLUB GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Davey
Could you expand on this for us?Andrew Wilkinson wrote:And an unnamed football agent has said that Davey has agreed to join the League Two club.
The only source for this rumour so far - and the whole reason this has blown up - is some random bloke posting it on an internet message board in Hereford.
So if there's a secondary source from within the game who has also heard this, then it's pretty significant.
Re: Davey
I'm sure if he could have expanded on it, he would have. The source may be unnamed for a reason.fat tony wrote:Could you expand on this for us?Andrew Wilkinson wrote:And an unnamed football agent has said that Davey has agreed to join the League Two club.

You can be pretty sure its true what the source said!
Re: Davey
He would say Hereford is an opportunity to get in the league, their new board are ambitious and it is close to home. Obviously. All valid reasons but we'll be wondering why he bothered to find out? He's not going to turn around and say x, y and z is wrong at the club.
Re: Davey
ffs. This club is unbelievable. We finally look to be on the up, and then this happens. Even if he doesnt go, this will still damage some of the feel good factor that has been around the club recently. Typical
Re: Davey
because like fordy alluded to, his contract isnt worth the paper its written on, he'll more than likely only have to give 1 months notice of resignation, then he'd be free to take up a new role.shawry_99 wrote:My issue with this is, if this is true, how is he allowed to line up another job, when players and clubs get into trouble for doing the same?
i guess if hereford want to have it sorted within the next 10 days they'd have to pay some kind of compensation as he wouldnt have served notice.
on the hereford site it mentioned that the board wouldnt be able to pay for a severance agreement for a manager in contract, with the terms of davey's contract now clear it seems as tho that stumbling block is now removed, it just gets more likely by the minute.
Re: Davey
Let us not beat around the bush anymore. This is true. Davey is taking the Hereford job. It may well be a shock to the club but it is true.
Andrew Wilkinson has a source, a football agent (we all know who it will be, and he'll know the score!) who HAS TOLD HIM that Davey HAS agreed, not "maybe", HAS agreed to join a L2 club. He would not put it in print unless he trusts his source. This for me is the smoking gun.
On top of that, on June 11th Hereford said it may take around 10 days to get the manager in place, today Fordy says Davey is back from the USA this weekend - this puts him back in the UK around the 19th/20th and gives him a day or so to seal the deal with Hereford.
Then reading the thread that I linked to, and OK this is just somebody on a messageboard talking, but this person said that none other than Graham Turner told him Davey was the next manager.
Add it all up and too much connects to dismiss this. I have gone from "worried" yesterday to 99% convinced that he is a goner.

Re: Davey
WTF!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! etc
Something must be seriously wrong if this is true, I mean a couple of weeks ago all was well in paradise. Now, he's off witout a buy your leave. More than simply not getting the players he wants I think - I mean Hereford aren't exactly a wonder club and not the richest in the world. On a dispairing note, the players who have signed (in principle until 1st July isn't it?), will they still want to come if SD goes?

Re: Davey
He may take a couple to Hereford.
I can imagine some of them will be thinking "you what" as they will have agreed to sign with the manager who would no longer be here.
And the 3 players we've offered terms to will simply go elsewhere.
Davey going will be a disaster in many ways.

Just the players under contract, NO Chandler, Werling, etc because as they haven't physically signed a contract yet they are not bound to the club.
Back to square 1 methinks, looking for a new manager, players etc.

You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Davey
As things stand, if/when this turns out to be true it will be my last season following Darlo. and thats only because I have paid for my season ticket.
I cant subject myself to this time and time again, Ive sacrificed loads to get a season ticket this year to support the club, and it now appears its just more of the same!

Re: Davey
I think we need to find out for certain if this is true (most likely reading this now though) and then we need to find out the underlying reasons - hopefully nothing to do with poor finances etc. Then we need to appoint someone else (again!) and start from scratch (again!). One thing is for certain though, this will have severely damaged our season before a ball is kicked (again)!
COME ON DARLO!

That's not the obvious solution.Robbie Painter wrote:Disagree.divas wrote:We'll be almost as unprepared as we were going into last season, we may as well just wrap it in, this club is clearly cursed. Burn the stadium down and liquidate the club.
Off the pitch is stable.
Core of the squad is in place.
The obvious solution is to promote Liddle to manager if Davey leaves which would mean minimum disruption, majority of fans would be happy and we would still have a chance for next season.
Liddle has said before that he doesn't want the job.

I shelled out 300 quid in good faith that could have been extra holiday spending money.

The core of the squad, other than the 7 or 8 already in contract is on a handshake so far, and no more. That core could quite easily evaporate.Core of the squad is in place.
Re: Davey
Maybe i was over reacting a tad, but we wont be far off - off the pitch we are told is stable, but i just cant see Davey jumping ship like his looks like he's going to without good reason - and i dont think a league club nearer his home town is enough - maybe if he'd been here a reasonable amount of time and thought he'd taken us as far as he could, but he's just starting the job, a job he seemed very enthused about only 6 weeks or so ago.Robbie Painter wrote:Disagree.divas wrote:We'll be almost as unprepared as we were going into last season, we may as well just wrap it in, this club is clearly cursed. Something has to have changed at the club, and that is the most worrying thing. As for the core of the squad - if the new signings he had lined up dont join we'll only be left with around 5 or 6 experienced pro's.
Re: Davey
I managed to get together the £250 for mine after three years out of it only to find this thread just getting started when I got off the phone. It's s***. I'm honestly considering seeing if I can get a refund if Davey goes - I just couldn't do this any more and I could've found plenty of other ways to spend that money. You might not like me much for that, but there you are.shawry_99 wrote:As things stand, if/when this turns out to be true it will be my last season following Darlo. and thats only because I have paid for my season ticket.

Re: Davey
I wonder how long the notice period is. This is probably a daft question but someone said it was one month, let's say if it is, what's to stop us making Davey sit out that month first because surely Hereford would want a manager in sooner than that? I realise it wouldn't solve our problem of being shafted yet again but if Davey is going to leave us in the lurch then balls to him.
Re: Davey
Gazette article seems to have been updated from earlier...
http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/north-east ... -26654174/
The Gazette understands that Davey has decided to quit Darlington for League Two side Hereford, and will be announced as the Bulls new manager as soon as formalities are concluded.
The club was earlier today in the dark over the situation, but while they have yet to make a formal statement, it is understood that there have been further developments, and Darlington have learned that Davey will be leaving.

Re: Davey
I can't se the club refunding any season ticket monies just because SD may have left I'm afraid. Just have to hope that if his departureis true that we get an equally inspiring manager to replace him. I bet that Colin Todd, Dean Windass and Steve Stauton are wetting themselves laughing right now! You really couldn't make this up could you? Raj singh must be in dispear right now.
COME ON DARLO!
Re: Davey
Ive just read that - further developments being Raj has spoken to Davey and he's confirmed it more than likely.fat tony wrote:Gazette article seems to have been updated from earlier...
