The opening post wasn't too bad either.

Watching 'One Born Every Minute' while reading that, and got to the para about the Tin Shed, and now our Lass thinks I'm getting all choked about childbirth

And just about the most poignant thing I've seen written about the Lads. Barrow's calling... well done MK

Reaction from another board:

MK Dons fan:
That might just be the greatest thing ever written. f**k me, that is brilliant. I want to go to Barrow. I'm with one of the comments in that thread. I have something in my eye....

Tranmere fan:
That's a fantastic post. It's made the hair stand on the back of my neck and I'm not a Darlo fan.

Luton fan:
What a post

I'm a Grimsby fan, and I'm not ashamed to say that post got the hairs standing on the back of my neck. Great passion, it's good to see fans at this level still passionate about their team.

I wish you all the best, and I'm sure my thoughts are echoed by all the Grimsby fans!

I think this is quite apt.
Not my words I'll admit but sum up the situation.

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love something, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
(edited for purpose)

Right now, watching our team, our club, struggle valiently on towards what is almost nailed on certain demise, it's about right.

However.
Now is not the time for sadness.
It is, as many have said, the final push.
One last roll of the dice.
The time to show the footballing world what we're made of, and what this means to us.
And if this is it, it's time to show them what it meant to us and if anything it can't keep happening to other clubs. Other fans. Other players.

I'm proud to be a Darlington fan.
I'm proud to have told people who I support and taken their scorn.
I'm proud to have crossed the sea to watch Darlo.
I took my Darlington shirt to the top of the mountain and I wore it with pride.
I haven't been able to see them as much as I could after crossing the Pennines, but when I've been able, I've savoured every moment.

Whatever happens over the next few days, I'll never stop being a Darlington fan.

Suggestion: Don't knock me down just yet: Send the OP to Sky Sports. Geoff Stelling may read it out, you never know. He did something similar last week for a club in one of the lower Welsh leagues who were on the way out. I know he supports Hartlepool, but he has said in the past that he wouldn't want Darlo to die. Also mention the £640+ raised tonight for the players and the will to carry on, who knows... someone somewhere may dig deep.
COME ON DARLO!

Sunderland fan here.

Just wanted to drop by to say good luck and I hope this isn't the end of Darlington Football Club.

Also, that post is absolutely brilliant and perfectly explains what all football fans feel for their team.

I honestly hope that you get out of this mess. Good luck, and I'm sure all Sunderland fans will have their fingers crossed!

Bolton Wanderers fan in peace.

MK's post has been linked to our forum, and I think I speak for all Bolton fans when I say well done, mate.

You've got supporters in the North West now. Keep fighting, keep that shirt flying. It's never the end, not while the fans are still battling.

I am Manchester United fan, and like everyone in this topic, I really hope this isn't Darlo's last fixture.

May I also say, what an OP. Really really emotional.

If I could get to Barrow on Saturday, I'd be there on the terraces with you all, urging all of the players on to go out there and give one hell of a performance, one that will make the whole of Darlington proud.

Just remember, Darlington Football Club will never die. It will forever be in your hearts and souls. It will forever be in the heart and soul of every man, woman and child who has ever been to a Darlington match.

Spurs fan here.

I think this summarizes perfectly what local clubs mean to local people. It isn't just a Football team, it's a family, a generation. You have my whole hearted support and I wish you the best of luck.

PS:
Get it trending on Twitter, send it to every BBC/Sky/Sun/Mirror/Daily Mail sports correspondent on twitter and I'm sure at least one will be as moved as I was and will write an article about it.

Best of wishes,
Harry.

Palace fan here, so some sort of empathy about what you guys are going through. Remember finding out about our administration at the start of a car journey back from Swansea to London, boy that was a long one.

Doesn't take me to say it, but just stick together lads, and fight for your club. We did it, and we won, and I am sure you guys will do too.

To the OP, great words my friend, proper inspirational.

I wish you guys the very best!

Don't mean to offend or anything but what exactly's going on at Darlington? Are you on the brink of going bust etc? Hard to find any details online, plus being at uni I hardly ever hear any news or anything.

I'm a Birmingham fan and it feels like desperate times with this plank we've got running us at the moment, if you're on the verge of going out of business then my sympathy really goes out to you. I couldn't think of life without my football team, home and away every week would be gone all of a sudden.

Hopefully someone comes along and saves you, there's rumours going around up here that we could be in for a similar fate no matter what goes on with our chinks money laundering trial and the thoughts horrible.

Let's hope it's not the last chance you get to cheer them on. KRO.
