Re: Martin grey appointed sporting director at shildon

Is it really needed at that level not to mention a head of recruitment http://www.shildonafc.com/2018/10/shildon-afc-appoint-martin-gray-as-new-sporting-director/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sorry this really is a joke appointment at this level...…………………...unless of course he can persuade Sh...

At least he is used to not winning in NLN. Hasn't he only played in one winning team this season? This bloke is an Albatross!

Then he could have been on the bench for us and got some match day experiance? Though I accept we had Burn as cover for defenders.

Vaulks goes on loan to Pickering

I am getting bored with this now. I liked him the few games I saw him play, thought he looked composed and fit. Clearly though he is not in TW's plans?

Re: What's happening?

Interesting one that cup game. Obviously nobody's that bothered how we get on in that cup, but quite a few first tamers got a run out to build fitness, which is a bit risky but makes s but of sense. I think they were all, except glover, players who live locally though, which again sort of makes sen...

Re: REECE STYCHE TRANSFERRED TO ALFRETON CONFIRMED

I've heard that Alfreton paid 60k for Reece. Tops what we paid last season & also takes a hefty wage off the wage bill. Reece's Tweet refers to HIM bringing in nearly £60,000 to the Club. Must admit when I read this I took this to include the Marathon Bet figure as well. Perhaps the fee was nearer ...

Re: REECE STYCHE TRANSFERRED TO ALFRETON CONFIRMED

I am not knocking what he achieved with us in his short period here, we will miss him, but Facts do not lie...……... According to Wiki, this is Reece's 15th Club in 14 years. He did stay 4 years at Forest Green, outside these 14 years. If I was an Alfreton fan I don't think I would have his name prin...

Re: REECE STYCHE TRANSFERRED TO ALFRETON CONFIRMED

We're averaging over 1400 (about the same as last season)- so it makes me wonder what we actually budgeted for with the quote 'we set a budget for the season based on basic crowd levels, but unfortunately those haven’t been forthcoming' Exactly..........What is the big secret DJ, what did you budge...

Gramps, did you really mean to say "stars"?!! What we need is consistency, a settled team playing for each other. Looking forward to FC United now and hoping the rest has done some good. Re: Management

Should create another poll for those who want out, where do we find the money to pay the management off, compensation for the incoming manager (unless you pick one whos been sacked again elsewhere) and then for the players the new manager will want to bring in. 1. Go back into debt 2. Look down the...

Re: Management

I think we stick with TW & AW, it's obvious that we have the right players as shown against Brackley/Blyth & Telford. We can beat anyone on our day. We've just been unfortunate in some games, I still think it will come good & we would be rash to get rid of them. If they did go, who else comes in? D...

Re: Darlington v Stockport

Because the people of the north east care so deeply about Darlington FC? Most of the people of Darlington don't care about Darlington FC, let alone the region as a whole. Why would players being from the North East have any baring on how much they care about the club? We don't know when to press, w...

Re: Darlington v Stockport

We don't know when to press, we look less fit than our opponents, there are no loud voices on the pitch, we look vulnerable at set pieces but entirely unlikely to score from ours. Our shape is a mess, our movement off the ball is more or less non-existent. These are management issues. The worst thi...

Re: Darlington v Stockport

A Bys Mal Thank you Craig! I appreciate how hard it was to find us a Manager last season when a number of potential candidates kicked us back. Next time round it may be even harder. Re: Darlington v Stockport

Given last weeks performance I'm not expecting a positive result this week. But sometimes when we fear the worst will happen, sometimes the opposite happens, like against Telford. I'd take a draw right now. Just waiting for someone to say we will do well to get anything out of this game as they are...

We were under the cosh for first 20 mins, then we got into the game and we matched them the rest of the first half. Second half started ok but under the cosh for most of it, so good to get a clean sheet by some excellent defending (although they did get a penalty and hit the post a couple of times)...

I'd keep the same side apart from swapping Saunders for Styche. If players are out, they can't expect to walk back into the team, especially after yesterday's performance. "can't expect to walk back into the team"............…..like you are suggesting Styche does Pete? Difficult (but nice decision)...

But what of the Footballing side of things, surely TW would have only let him go on the understanding he would get a certain amount of game time I thought this too. I'm sure Pears would have gone back M'bro sharpish if he'd been sat on the bench. Hmm dunno. I'd be surprised if a loaning manager cou...

Re: Vaulks on loan to Whitby

I can't see who is getting any benefit with this deal - DFC/Vaulks/Whitby? Surely there has to be some financial advantage to us in that Whitby must be paying a percentage of his wages even if a small amount? What puzzles me about this is what the two clubs agree formally or informally between each...

Re: Darlington V Altrincham Match thread

I think for Ashton we need to do what we did post-Leamington last season - go 4-5-1 (or 4-2-3-1). That worked really well, there was a good transition between defence and attack, nobody really spoke about us being over-run and our form after Leamington was 7-4-3 IIRC. Something along the lines of -...

Re: Darlington V Altrincham Match thread

Well today was woeful. We had no game plan, and I can’t really remember any patterns of play going forward. In the middle we looked outnumbered, we couldn’t deal with the press across the park and they just kept getting in behind time and time again. Maddison kept the score down to 3 and I really f...

I was trying not to make my comments about fitness player specific. I agree with you that some of the comments recently have been out of order, but bear in mind many (myself included) were not aware of an underlying pre existing health condition. I do wonder whether for some of our players the foot...
