Why not a compromise - they release his registration but in both matches against them this season he cannot be selected?TinShedDarloFan wrote:Seems its going to be Rushden who hold the trump card here, they can play hardball and keep hold of his registration or release it

Re: Knight's clearance still not through
Is this yet another only-at-Darlo style fook up? I have read that he signed a year's contract (ie. We are paying him for a year) yet we don't have his playing registration? If so what else can he do for the 12 months? Operate a multi-pint pouring device at half time perhaps? And also we let other t...

Re: Outgoings...
I'm not sure it is down to whether he rates Moore or not, it could be the system. Dryden said on Quakers Player today in the Bath preview "we don't play with wingers, we get the width from the front 3". They aren't going to move away from the 3 central midfielders and 3 forwards in the first 11. Ex...

Re: Who Should We Sign On Loan??
Whats this obsession about us desperately needing wingers when it is quite clear MC's preferred setup is 4-3-3? I agree that a more proven goalscorer is needed, because we look toothless up top. The main problem with MC's 4-3-3 is that at the moment it contains 3 players who in my opinion are too al...

Re: Tadgh Is Out
Purcell owed us nothing after the 6 month stint he had with us. He tried his hardest to keep us in the league on his own last season with 9 goals in about 15 games - unlike some of the sh*te that we had playing for us at various points throughout. He made NO secret of his desire to play higher up th...

Anyone know what the situation is with him - I take it he is still under contract at the club? Just with him wanting to leave, the club wanting a fee and the transfer window shutting in a few hours - is he going or staying?

Re: Thoughts on today game
I'd take the position we're in now going into the next few games. We can't make any judgements after just 3 games but what we can say is that so far, we are sound defensively, need work in the attacking third, BUT most importantly we are unbeaten and sitting in a decent position after the first 3 ga...

Can't see Staunton ever getting another managerial job again, so I can't see him going to Poolies. Would be great if he did, but it won't happen!

Re: Morecambes new stadium
A point made by one of the Morcambe fans, however does make some sense if true. That is that to meet FL ground standards the ground needed to contain 2,000 seats minimum. They have only put in those boxes in the middle for now and in time will stretch right across that part of the stand taking up th...

SSN are saying the Hangers manager has resigned - seems very early in the season! Not sure if I should be sad or happy at that news, it may be a blessing for them unfortunately  Depends on the circumstances though, there is normally always an underlying reason when a manager quits just 2 game...

Re: When was the last time we came back from 2 goals down?
Always seems like the type of thing that other teams do to us, especially last season. I can't think of many recent times we've done it. There was a 2-2 at the Arena v Morecambe under Penney around the time we had that striker crisis and missed out on promotion. We came back to score two really lat...

Re: a point is a point
Ray and Smudger seemed to think it was a knee injury, but asked my dad who was at the game tonight and said it was a groin injury. I know it doesn't clear much up, sure we'll find out more tomorrow.Jazz Maverick wrote:Any word on the seriousness of Austins injury? He was a bright spot for me on saturday.

Re: a point is a point
Needs a couple of defenders too, as a matter of urgency, with Austin injured and Werling offski. Agree we need a LB sharpish now in time for Saturday. Also on the point of defenders didn't he say a couple of days ago that he didn't just want cover for fullback, but also central defence? Just I've n...

The thing is he has vast amounts of knowledge about this league, so the players have to be ready for the challenge from teams such as Altrincham etc. Think he was correct in most things he said about tonights performance. Missed part about Werling though as I was on the phone, what did he say?

Signs are good.
Got to be optomistic about our chances this season after that game and the one at the weekend! We've picked up 4 points and we're still unbeaten, yet we haven't looked fluent and we're still finding our feet. This team in just two games have already shown way more heart than that of the various comb...

Surprised if this has been missed and forgive me if it has already been mentioned on another thread, but James Morrison, current WBA and former Boro player born in Darlo has kindly got in touch with Maddo to help sponsor a couple of the youth team set-ups. Sounded like he has popped his shoulder, fell awkwardly on edge of box after a tangle of legs. Hopefully, nothing too serious but we know he has had neck and shoulder problems, remember Droylsden cup replay.

Arnison is a goalscoring problem it seems at the moment & ironically both scorers were Todd signings from this time last year - how bizarre!

The whole point of these friendly matches is not to look at results but are important in preparing the fitness levels of players and get them up to speed quickly ahead of the new season. From these friendlies angainst higher opposition you can also see why Tamworth & Kettering went on some decent cup runs. Now I know Sunderland & Sheff Wed might have been playing maybe at 60-70% but these games have still given us a good idea of shape, defensive play & playing on the counter attack....
