Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24
Just read that following the injury to Hazel, Boston secured the loan signing of Bromley's Adam Marriott who scored an absolute shedload of goals for King's Lynn and Barnet.

Wasn't he only subbed on Saturday because of the imminent danger of a second yellow.

Re: South Shields v Darlo
Don't know what the right approach is with this sort of thing... it seems different clubs have different attitudes when there's violence involved. It is quite a subjective call based on the impact of any backlash especially once a person has 'served their time' (as determined by the courts) so to s...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
There was a pretty dramatic ending to one of the weekend games involving the relegation battle. Rushall drew 3-3 with Gloucester and two of their goals were apparently worldies scored by a sub call Sam McLintock. Just two days earlier McLintock, 23, who had his contract cancelled at Boston last year...

Re: v Tamworth
Tamworth were mediocre. As has been said above, how they are top of the league is a complete mystery, I've never seen a less likely physical specimen as their centre half, even in the Northern League. The second worst specimen also plays for Tamworth, their long throw specialist. Then there was the...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
Nah, it was a brutal, disgraceful lunge, deserving of a 10-match ban. I say that in the spirit of pointing out that the Shields fans were Premier League standard whiners, who moaned at everything, stormed out of the ground en masse as soon as we had the audacity to score, have since called us the wo...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
8 How many times under Gowling did we bemoan playing well, but not really hurting the opposition? It is kind of happening under Watson now. Never. We never played well under Gowling. Every game was tedious negative plodding dogshit and I hate him for it. Under Watson, although results haven't reall...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
Good to eventually take advantage when circumstances went in our favour. Their fans were angry over the reds but both looked fairly clear-cut. We were ruthless as they tired late on but for a long time it looked like they might get away with a backs-to-the-wall 0-0. Possession-wise it must have bee...

Here's just one example of the amounts required of an investor/benefactor/bankroller at the lowest EFL level. Harrogate Town's accounts for the year ended June, 2022 showed total ongoing liabilities of £4.27m and losses for the year of £1.16m. The financial statement says the company will have suffi...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
I'm not sure how far £30k goes in the current climate but we did sign a striker who had scored and created goals at this level (with an extended contract), who was in demand, along with Barrow (loan but cost implications) and Cornish, who looks lively. There is also some ineffectual/not up to it pla...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
I think it could be a tight game with them edging it by virtue of having someone who is scoring goals, Blackett. We do look a bit better in defence these days but still hardly ever look like scoring and going 1-0 down generally means game over. Their game against Alfreton followed the same pattern a...

Gowling did pretty much what the Hereford fans said he would. Lots of ineffectual recruits coming and going, often hardly playing.

Barrow looked fit and ready to go for his debut against King's Lynn considering how long he had been out. He was excellent in that victory. At no point has Asante looked anywhere near fit and ready to go since he arrived three months ago.

He says he will be playing again this season despite suffering setbacks in his recovery from a bad injury. Is said to be one of the higher earners at Kiddy. Some player if fit and still not yet 30 but no doubt the injuries have taken a toll. I could imagine he's looking for part-time now. As well as...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
Those mentioning that AA was hard done by, and you could be right, but I had heard that he was not really getting involved in the training, and involved in his sons move from Harrogate, (true or not? I dont know), but more importantly for me he looked a down, and a beaten man on the interviews in t...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
They roll around, waste time, break up play, tug shirts, they utilise every trick in the book - not just a few times, but as a fully blown ideology right through a match. Watching them play football is a dull, boring and frustrating afternoon and if I lived in Alfreton I'd rather stay in bang my he...

Hazel is out long-term after picking up a bad injury during Boston training. Certainly won't be lining up against us this month. It's a big blow for them as he's been their star man.

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Billy Heath didn't think we were woeful. He said: "They are a different team to what they were a month ago. They played some good stuff and put us under a lot of pressure. They didn't look like a side where they are in the league. But we were back to our difficult best. We are a difficult side to pl...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
Isn't it already in a disastrous position? It is financially, not ran in a sustainable manner and has the worst team many of us have seen in our lifetime. This is way beyond a team manager. There's a culture that's deep rooted and it needs to be removed. Beggers my belief that people still think we...

Who has the best worst I wonder putting our 3 managers side by side ? Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
If it wasn't for Hatfield telling him what he should do the ref would have carried on with the game with a player on two yellows. Never seen anything like it. Surely that's just basic stuff for the officials, keeping record of who has been booked.

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
According to the club website there will be a precautionary pitch inspection on Saturday morning. Surely there is either an inspection or there isn’t, the word precautionary is a complete red herring. If you are examining the pitch to see if it is playable, then that constitutes a pitch inspection ...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Gowling gambled everything on Asante, it not only backfired on him, it backfired on us too, and is still backfiring. Turn the clock back and imagine if he'd hit the ground running, scored goals, brought in points, galvanised the team etc - it would be a different story now. You need a good imaginat...

Sounds like a sensible step just in case Thursday's overnight monsoon is repeated overnight Friday. Not that Billy Heath would be likely to kick up a fuss on arrival as the state of the surface for passing the ball would be neither here nor there!

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Well at least we know exactly what to expect on Saturday. Alfreton try to engineer as many set pieces and Adam Lund Exocet long throws as they possibly can. Usually aimed for the head of 6ft 3in Gerry McDonagh or 6ft 4in Jake Day or one of the big defenders who amble forward to flick it on for Salmo...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
People seem to ignore what has already been said over the period as it suits their narrative I suppose. I don't remember a single fan complaining when AA got the 2 year extention as everyone was worried he would get poached given how we had been doing, not one of us forecast the way the season ende...
