Re: Tamworth V Darlington

I have lost count of how many times I have worked with people over the years who have had a good CV (OK Gowling's CV would not be great - granted), can talk the talk at the interview but when it came to the job did not perform. I would hope DJ is experienced enough to see through it. However, for m...

Re: New signing

After a couple of matches and a handful of training sessions I would think JG will have had enough time to assess what he has to work with and whether they are good enough to fit into his ideas. I think now we're seeing him move more towards putting his own stamp on the squad and possibly a change o...

Re: Scarborough Fa Cup

Getting relegated to the NPL would not be catastrophic. Yes we'll probably lose a few off the gate but if we retain our core support we'll find our level again which I believe at this moment is actually the division below. We need cup runs as this is really only our other opportunity during a seaso...

Re: Scarborough Fa Cup

As I have stated many a time, the mid-table budget argument is a pointless stat. It's the calibre of players to put a squad together that we can afford that determines league position, we simply don't have the squad quality and in part that is because the budget doesn't stretch far enough - for this...

Guess it's a case of start from the back and try not to concede goals, hopefully by January JG will have got to the strikers.

Re: Darlington V Gloucester

We are in a bit of trouble. Gowling needs to learn, and he needs to be ruthless, quickly. Moke needs taking out of the side. Weak in the challenge in the build-up to the first goal and then set-up a really good chance for Gloucester in the second half. Booked for the third time today (all down to p...

Re: Alun has been sacked

Can someone remind me, IF we do secure a site for a new stadium, we would be taking the Tin Shed and seated stand? Obviously, there would be dismantling costs but at least we would be only needing to fund the land and two sides of a new ground (Main and one end, possibly an optional extension of the...

Sorry there is no way spennymoor, Blyth and Shields should all be ahead of us without gross mismanagement … we used to throw these teams a bone with a pre season friendly ffs ! South Shields have higher attendances + will turnover more than us. Spennymoor still have Groves involved + will turnover ...

Re: Buxton v Darlo

My reason for adding possible relegation(s) is that the club is being caught up and we are struggling to tread water with the finances we have. When we are in the same division as South Shields, Spennymoor and even Blyth their set ups and/or budgets can punch above ours, we have dropped to fourth i...

Re: Buxton v Darlo

I said that this season risked unfolding exactly like the 17/18 season after seat-gate. However, we have to accept that right now the club has hit it's ceiling and we'll have to get use to it, even if we suffer a relegation or two, the budget we have just doesn't stretch far enough to compete and w...

Re: Curzon crowd

I have a feeling that this season will go like 17-18. Seems like a manager and club going through the motions, like Gray after 'seat gate' and budget cuts. An opening day defeat, a thin squad and tough set of fixtures coming up doesn't bode well either. Wouldn't be overly surprised if AA is gone bef...

Re: Curzon crowd

Optimism turns to realism. I think it's fair to say that the achievement this season is to stay in the league, forget about the playoffs. It's a case of treading water for as long as possible, with the real possibility of a relegation at some point. We have a paper-thin squad and with financial sque...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

My opinion is that we have reached our ceiling under our current model and I think the club are finally, without a direct comment, communicating this. We have since 2012/13 a core amount of supporters that turn up every season to attend matches (I'd guess roughly between 1,200-1,500) and from this a...

Without saying it officially the club right now is at it's ceiling 8th in the NLN, we can't afford to be promoted. It'll be a hard sell for some but this is the reality.

Re: Jacob Blyth new striker

The best teams tend to have a balanced midfield, especially those wanting to play football rather than being more direct or route one. As mentioned having a potent attack can help to impose your goal scoring threat but without the link up in the middle you are either left too exposed defensively or ...

Re: The Top 15, Saturday Mar 18th 2023

I'd suspect a total mid-70s should be enough, which roughly equates to 5/6 wins from our last 10. If we have any aspirations of achieving this then wins against Farsley, Kettering and Banbury are imperative, as beyond that we have tougher matches vs Chester, Brackley and Kings Lynn, amongst others. ...

A little underwhelming tbh- are cleethorpes one league below us or more than that? As others have stated though we do need some one else to rotate Nelson. A good win by the sounds of it, listened to most of it on DF Radio  I think potentially the back line with the addition of Cooper may just solidify us now once the partnership and understanding is set. I also think that IF Nelson stays fit we may have the perfect attacker to play off Hazel....

I'd take any playoff spot but if offered just 7th I'd take it, at least it gives us an outside chance of promotion. Also knowing we'd be able to partake instead of being kicked out for having not enough seats would also be an achievement.

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster 25.02.2023

I would say that we are weaker than we were earlier in the season when we played them. We have lost a bit of potency in front of goal and defensively are more fragile. We haven't really replaced Beck or Dodds adequately and although the young loan players brought in are doing a job, it feels like th...

I'm pleased that Hazel is proving the doubters wrong (me included a few weeks ago). I think we are seeing the confident striker he can be and was at Whitby, he has stepped up to this level. I hope that he is one we can hold on to whatever happens at the end of the season, whether we gain promotion o...
