Re: Who next?

And Spenny have now got shot of Dickman. Wonder if they've got Fenton lined up already. I'm afraid skint and probably relegated Darlo are maybe at the end of the queue. It's looking like we had our big chance and a clear run at the managerial market when we sacked AA. Now the water is muddied. I'm ...

Re: Boost the Budget

Just checked the fixture list and we have 7 games in January. Taking a month over a BtB would give the club only 15 games to change the direction of travel. The new recruits would have to be Beck and Lambert standard to give us a chance of a minimum two points a game over those 15 games. This is how...

Boost the Budget

Summing up a few points made on other threads it seems broadly agreed that any new manager will have his hands tied unless he can get access to some additional funds to freshen the squad up. The alternative being trying to make the silk purse out of the sow's ear that the current squad appear to be....

Re: Darlington V Rushall

As much as it opens up the possibility of two reprieves I'd sooner not see us stay up on a technicality. At least we can call it all square on when we missed out on the play-offs on a similar technicality. Beyond me why we let Hazel go knowing Asante was miles away and Nelson missing. Basically lef...

Re: Darlington V Rushall

Beyond me why we let Hazel go knowing Asante was miles away and Nelson missing. Basically left us with no recognised available forward in the club for 2 massive games. The guy, like him or not, keeps making ridiculous decisions. Worst case, at least in this weeks interviews give us some background ...

Amazing that for season after season we dreamt of having a striker who could get 20+ goals, and now we do some fans can't wait to get rid of him.

Re: Hazel

Two other teams in our league are reported to be interested in Jacob Hazel. But the wisdom in some quarters of our fan base is that he is not interested, is lazy, and has been found out by other sides in our league so as to nullify his threat after one good season. Makes you wonder why any side at o...

Well, the club seemed really convinced that Gowling was their man and he was the stand-out over a quality list of applicants.
Looking more and more like an AD69 situation.

Re: Alun has been sacked

Looking again at the post match interview AA looked ill, which might be down to the crisis situation he found himself in. It was possible the reasons for his absence on Saturday to be answered but to not deal with the rumours was just going to fuel the fires of those demanding a change of leadership...

Re: Brackley

It'll be a tough game, Brackley are always a good side and don't expect today will be any different. I'm interested to see what AA goes with. I didn't mind seeing us move to 3-5-2 on Tuesday night. It's a tough formation to get set up in with only a couple of training sessions a week and I don't th...

Re: Pools for sale

Although there can be a certain amount of glee for Darlo fans to see the Pools/Singh project come to a sticky end it also illustrates that too much chopping and changing of management and players confuses everyone as to what the overall plan is. As stated in this piece, success can only be achieved ...

Re: Play offs

Win our game in hand on Tuesday and we’re 5th. The play offs are still in our hands. Whilst current form suggests this outcome is unlikely, surely the time for reflection and analysis would be when there is no longer a mathematical chance. Some of the comments being made at the moment may well be j...

Non League Bible Awards

I wonder if anything has been posted on here or in the Darlo media about these awards. As far as I can see there are several categories that involve Darlington personnel or club. Not sure what the impact of winning an award would be (probably get some tin pot trophy) but they seem to depend on peopl...

I really hope Lambert is back for next week, but he wasn’t playing brilliantly before his absence. Lets hope he was feeling the injury prior to being out, and the rest has recharged his batteries. We need someone who can unlock defences, and he is our best bet. A positive mention to Ray for asking ...

Re: Darlington V Bradford PA

Darlo good for the first 10 minutes of both halves, but in between rather average I thought. Too much hoof ball and giving the opposition too much time on the ball and too much space. Moke, Hazell, Hedley, Rivers, Nelson all very poor. Newall by far Darlo's best player. Yet despite being poor for m...

I have followed this thread and have sympathy for many of the views expressed. No doubt the whole issue of abuse is one that any right thinking person should want to see removed from the game, although at what level tolerance should be applied is clearly a matter of opinion and, perhaps, upbringing....

I am not a medical man, but have heard what those that are have to say, and it seems that the human body and its workings can still be a very mysterious thing to lay predictions on, even when opinion is sought from well qualified and experienced people like Danny. Interesting that a WSL match got abandoned after 6 minutes today. I think that would have been the fate of our game anyway had it started. I came out of the pub at 4.30 and the temperature had noticeably dropped. Everywhere the ground was completely solid. I was watching the start of the WSL game b...

Re Ray Snowball. The records show that he was born in Sunderland in 1932 and played for Crook Town before he came to Darlington. He won three Amateur Cup medals for Crook between 1959 and 1963 whilst he worked as a teacher. He only played 12 games in the 64/65 season for Darlo with his first game a ...

Watching the highlights I was struck by the similarity of the foul on Beck with the challenge from a Boston player that resulted in a red card. Both times the defenders slid in two footed but received different punishments. In yesterdays case just a yellow for Johnson as opposed to red for the Bost...

By my reckoning we now have a first team squad of 16. Listening Alan’s interview he did say that our signings this season have not come cheap and the budget had been stretched a bit. Wonder if there is a change of approach this time around we are going to operate on a smaller squad, with a few less...

A further benefit of yesterday's results is that we are now mathematically safe from being relegated! So, along with gaining a spot in the playoffs, there is much to celebrate. Not scoring and getting the three points, given our current momentum, was less than was expected, but things never quite go...

The impression I got from the Telford site was that they thought well of him but could never get him fit enough this year to get a decent run in the team. They couldn't seem to work out the exact nature of his problem. They seem to have given up on waiting for him to be ready enough to play. Just ho...

In trying to catch up with where we stand at the moment, and with several new loan signings, it made me wonder how many players we have that are on loan, and how many of those can appear in a match squad?
