Re: Tommy wants 3 new players

Thompson was POTY for me last year, we'll have to shoehorn him in somehow. It's then up to the others to prove they're better than him and displace him. I'd stick with the 4-4-2 initially (similar to the 4-5-1 but with Ainge starting in place of Syers), that way we can fit Thompson in. But then what...

Re: Dave Mills

Neither can I.

But what went on behind the scenes at Darlo which affected his health so badly that he had to leave?

As others have said, he seems to have been fit enough to work elsewhere since.

Re: Andy Collett

Bell contributed a lot on the pitch when he was 1st choice in the Northern League and Evostik 1N.

We did have Provett as a coach/bench warmer for a while.

Re: Jonny Maddison - New GK

Well if he doesn't attend training you'd assume that was breach of contract after a point. But no reason to think he won't so let's hope he can make a contribution this season. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk I'd guess TW has said he doesn't need to attend and he can find himself a club. If he ...

Well he's not signing for Darlo so he will be signing for Spendy. His bezzie Chandler is there as well. It's obvious.

Talking of Pools, they seem to be finding it difficult to sign decent players.

Raj's reputation preceding him?

I wonder what happened to him?

When he turned down the new contract at Spendy I thought he must have had something lined up but it doesn't seem so.

No but with Heaton gone that only leaves us 5 defenders in total, one of those (Collins) is always injured, one is a teenager.

Re: Josh Heaton looks like he is on his way

If Gray had signed him he would not have played him often and fucked him off to Skelmersdale on a free by March.

Best thing that could have happened to Josh was that injury delaying the move.

Re: Josh Gillies

To me, that's the reason Saint Tommy has got rid - Gillies simply wasn't the type of player he wanted. Saint Tommy wants players who will move the ball quicker, who are a bit more balanced in that they're more solid defensively. It really grips your shitt that people talk Tommy up, doesn't it? Peop...

Can't grumble at 75k, I just hope we have a sell on because potentially he will go further than St Mirren in the future.

For a conference north player that's a good price. He'll shine at St Mirren so will hopefully get a big move in the future, so let's hope we have a sell on.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players

Piss taking aside, the number 4 would generally be the more defensive minded/playmaker type midfielder. The 8 would be more the runner.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players

Think Elliott can play as a '4' or '8', so can play holding as well as box-to-box. Full of energy and technically very good. When did people start talking about positions in football as numbers - I genuinely thought that centre backs were often number 4? Most of the time, traditionally the centre m...

Re: Josh Gillies

Yes, no player would have been on 30k as suggested - but it wouldn't surprise me if one or two were on the equivalent of 30k pro rata on a 39 week contract - ie £600 a week during the contract, which would work out at 23.4k. It's not beyond question when Gray squeezed a 334k playing budget out of us...

Re: Henshall replaces Gillies

No we know nothing about Ainge and the 37 goals he scored in 9 months of 2017. Jordan Nicholson is clearly a good player, he scored the winner when Nuneaton beat us in our 2nd match at BM. Had a good game too. Hughes has played nearly 100 times in L2 so surely must have something about him. Henshall...

Re: Henshall replaces Gillies

Never heard of him. My one concern though is he's already a bit of a journey man for 24 year old, if I've read it correctly we are his 8th different club. Regardless it is only really possible to judge him on what he does for us on the pitch, welcome to the club Alex! To be honest I wouldn't read t...

Re: Henshall replaces Gillies

Re: Josh Gillies

Let's just say that some of our part time players last season were on more money than some people who work full time. Some (some, not all) of our part time players didn't actually need a day job - whether they had a full time job or not was incidental. Part time players on a full time wage. Then add...

Re: Josh Gillies

I don't think Harry is far from the truth. Although I will say that our players are only paid during the season which works out at around 39 weeks pay. Sometimes when somebody hears a rumour that a player is on x amount a week, they will multiply that figure by 52 and I think that's what has happene...

Yeah I agree. Gillies was never going to please the supporters who love the headless chickens like Cartman or Dowson. For me he did the job he was in the team to do. Don't know what his critics were expecting. Yes he could be inconsistent but so is Thompson, yet he doesn't get anyway near the same ...

Then you don't know what you are taking about. As one of the bigger clubs in the division they will naturally have one of the bigger part time budgets regardless of whether this fan puts any extra in. Of course some of the £333,333 per season will go into the playing budget, even if they claim it wo...
