Preferably an unreasonably large transfer fee. If Davey wants him so badly, let's wring him for all he's worth.

Re: Dominik Werling........

Nothing suprises me anymore! Davey has certainly stuck the knife in big style, some thanks for getting the t**t off the dole. Actually, if Werling has signed a pre contract agreement and he does end up at Hereford then perhaps we may have some claim for compensation from them? We wont be able to cl...

As an aside, two of those players we are said to be interested in are midfielders - maybe Cooper isn't convinced by the current set?

"What's that Simon, Dominik wants to sign for you at Hereford? No, quite right, we understand the situation. Yes, of course we'll release him from his contract, that's fine. Oh yes, I almost forgot, that will be £500,000 please. Thanks. Bye now."

Re: penalty goal, your thoughts

The whole issue troubles me badly. I really don't want video technology introducing at all. There just aren't the natural pauses in football to make it worthwhile. Momentum is everything in football, and it's what makes the game flow so utterly beautifully. Why should fans inside a stadium have to s...

Re: penalty goal, your thoughts

Injustice is an inherent part of football. It just is. It may hurt, but it works both ways. People watch football because you can always expect the unexpected, and all the anomalies that arise from one thing or another - be it a ball that's judged not to be over a line, a dodgy offside, or a bit of ...

Re: Curits Main

The problem is though, that at the level we are playing now, we can't afford to carry players that are projects. We need players that are going to make an immediate and sustained impact. If we were in League 1 or above then it would be a different matter. Not being funny, but that's utter rubbish. ...

Those games where we played Close, A 97-year-old Curtis Fleming, and Matt Clarke in defence, it was like watching tectonic plates pass one another at times.

I wasn't sure where we were drawing the distinction, since St Juste I'm pretty sure did play in that youth league winning side, as he was signed when still very young.

Re: Evan Horwood- on trial at Pools-info please

I think in fairness, he always looked ropey when he played for us, but Carlisle fans rated him and were surprised to see him go. Obviously when he played for us he was a bit too young, rough and ready, but he seems to have progressed well since.

You would say on Gray behalf, though, he nearly had a very good player come through, were it not for St Juste's attitude and misguided belief in the level he should be at.

Ted, the lad's 17, and has already scored five goals for us, including a corker against Burton last season. The attributes he lacks are those that can be trained into a player. You can't expect them to come into the team aged 15 and instantly be the finished product. That would just ruin every singl...

I could be convinced by that one, depending on the circumstances. Well, I imagine the circumstances would be 'get leathered in Norwich on the Friday, go down to Cambridge on the Saturday, get leathered, then go back to Norwich and get even more leathered.' Unsophisticated, I know, and dependent on ...

They've just got some crazy new owner who's put a million in to take them out of debt and wants to take them into the league.

To be fair, it's no more than Steve Evans deserves, being as he is such a decent, likeable chap and all.

Gateshead seem a decent shout, and Grimsby won't be far away.

He deserves his place among the one-game wonders, I reckon. Played about four or five, I think, replacing Darren Holloway (the name still makes me shudder) in Penney's rapidly rebuilt defence.

Re: Away at Gateshead Tuesday 28th Dec

Calm down, calm down. By my calculations, as verified by Hilly on the other thread, it's a bank holiday because Christmas and New Year falls on a weekend so we have two spare bank holidays. Which may also see it moved to 3pm. All is calm.

With a bit of luck. That sounds a fine day out, bank holiday in Gateshead. Presumably the old boys club forgot about the bank holiday when they were drawing a fixture list on the back of an empty packet of Hamlets.

Re: Full fixture list.

Isn't the Gateshead away match on December 28 a bank holiday? Only Christmas Day and boxing Day are weekend days, so we should have two bank holidays following on to compensate. Or am I being overoptimistic/daft? Got to say it's all fallen together to be an absolute pain in the arse on every level. ...

Think you're being a touch unfair there Wylam. Just because a player wants to prove himself at a higher level instead of staying at a club for which he has no affinity which is dropping into the non-league, I don't think we can judge him too harshly. Some players stay at clubs because they enjoy the...

It would seem unlikely since our manager has been in the job for about 19 hours, but no doubt he will have a few targets. Your lad Exodus does seem to be going to Southend, but the Echo does say Cooper wanted him, so you get points for being right about that.

I take a lot of pleasure from watching efficient, well-drilled teams do their jobs properly and getting results. Way more so than players who think their ability is far greater than it really is passing short balls along the back for hours on end. I always liked how Penney built from the back - it m...
