One for the statisticians
I went in to a gift shop on the south coast harbourside at Dartmouth last week; it was selling football regalia and I happened across a range of mugs and keyrings filed alphabetically. Naturally I looked under "D" and was surprised & delighted to find a really attractive mug and a keyring. The mug d...

Re: 42 league games next season
Agree with that. The whole country was able to watch Blyth play Hartlepool in the early stages of the BBC's FA Cup coverage on a Friday night last year. How proud we would be, had it been Darlington.

Sorry for Blyth but not for Ashton.
Their bench were rather rude to me when when they came to HP.
Loking forward to seeing who joins Darlington next season.

Re: Darlo v Whitby
Just driven up from Dawlish to Catterick, in time to log on for the half time score!
This is fantastic, you couldn't write the script!
Blyth have shot their bolt and we're going up, up, up.
Let's have a score in double figures.
PS The Dawlish sea wall is all right too.

Re: Match thread
I always respect referees and linesmen who give their time, effort and energy to the game; many must have found they could never have made it as footballers, and have done the next best thing for the love of the sport. And good luck to them. But why do some go in to it, if they are so bad? If their ...

I've never undestood betting odds. What does 1/4 mean?
If you put a quid on at 1/4 what does that mean?
Do you win £4 or do you get £1.25?

Re: Frickley v Darlington Match Thread
Seems like we were evenly matched last night. I remember Frickley earlier this season at HP and they were a stiff side to beat. Surprised they haven't done better this season. Sounds like they took their chances well yesterday. We'l get behind the lads tomorrow night.

Look, every one of our successful promotion teams has has a reverse at this stage of the season; it happened just the same right back to 1967 when we lost 1-0 home to Newport County.
It's a blip.

Leicester, beer and doughnuts.
I see that Leicester fans were given free beer and a doughnut to celebrate the owner's birthday. Is that wise? A few years ago I came back from the pub one night, and mixed the several pints of real ale I'd had with a bag of doughnuts we'd bought earlier in the day. "Eat on day of purchase", it said...

Watching England play
Is it just me or do other people glaze over and switch off when watching England play? Fresh from watching Darlington's thrilling win over Halesowen on Saturday, I tuned in on Tuesday to watch the Holland match hoping for a repeat of the unexpected Berlin encounter. What we got was a reversion to th...

Re: EU Referendum
I've known for years that if we ever got a vote on it again I'd vote out, so none of the fuss and hullabaloo that both sides are making would ever make me change my mind. If it was just a free trade organisation like we were conned in to believing in 1975, then fair enough. We now have the benefit o...

Re: Match thread
Thought today's game had draw written all over it - when their goal went in I thought it was going to be one of those days; Browny going off injured seemed a bad omen too. Referee made some strange decisions but gave the penalty when it mattered. In the event, Halesowen couldn't cope with the pressu...

Re: Nantwich v Darlington Match Thread
Would love to know what Alan Shearer would say about Darlington's second goal if it was on Match of the Day. Our player appears to have at least six opposition players around him when he receives the ball, but still manages to hit the net with his back to goal. Also what has happened I wonder, to th...

Re: Last minute goals you probably haven't seen
The one that always fascinates me is the one where Carlisle goalkeeper Jimmy Glass scores in the last 20 seconds to keep his team in the football league after 72 years. I believe his goal also relegated Scarborough to the conference.

Re: Darlington v Ashton United Match Thread
I felt we didn't create enough chances, especially in the first half. I thought the referee failed to spot dives where Ashton players apeared to go down as if pole-axed but where no contact occurred; the linesmen didn't seem to offer the ref any support when he didn't spot such things. When we score...

Re: Location of new Darlo Stadium ?
Ive always said we should shift the cricket club at Feethams. They only use it in summer, and only then when it's not raining.
There's a good stadium down Neasham Road that the cricket club could share with a rugby lot.

Re: ban this scum
It saddens me that this pondlife is associated with our club. I don't want to breathe the same air as them. I wonder what suggestions the police themselves might offer and whether some sort of meeting with the police, or liason could be a way forward? The yobs themselves may be thick as pigshit but ...
