Re: Tonight’s games

Ashton losing = good. Guiseley holding Curzon; better if the were losing.
Now 3-1 against York.

Re: Nuneaton....

Remind me of the result when we played them at home this season, when they were bottom of the league then and we couldn't possibly lose? On second thoughts, DON'T.

Re: Wind-up Time

To 'complete' the post, Ebbsfleet have paid up what they owe to HMRC and the petition was dismissed.
So all three clubs live to play another day.

Here's an update on two of them:

Can't see any current updates on Ebbsfleet.

Wind-up Time

Three clubs (Bolton, Macclesfield and Ebbsfleet) in the High Court today. For Bolton it is very much a regular outing = sixth petition in well under two years.

Will clubs soon be competing with retail stores to see who can fold most in a month?

So sad.

Re: Saturday - weather

If the weather is as forecast currently, the problem is that the rain won’t start until well after midnight and it won’t get heavy until about 7.00 am. So an early morning inspection could well result in “playable”. By lunchtime, with Chester having travelled, things could be very different.

Re: Darlington V Brackley

We were well and truly beaten by a team which, if you will forgive the pun, were in a different league. That, for me, sums up our situation. We can, with justification, say that Player A should be preferred to Player B (with different people having contrary views) and we can say good and bad things ...

No buses in York today. A nice one for a mile’s stroll from the station, for those fit enough. Taxi shares from the station for others? Cheaper than Pete’s £36 return.

I think people are underplaying his importance to us. When the Trotman-Thompson double act is working well, it makes an enormous difference to our attacking potential.

Press statements are often composed by behind the scenes people and put words into the mouth of the person at the sharp end. I wonder how much (and how little) of the clarifying statement is TW? I see the hand of others in the first part, perhaps dictating what TW ‘says’, moving more to what TW migh...

Probably a reflection of bets placed after 5.00 pm on Saturday, as much as anything else. If so, that people are willing to give us a punt at (then) 25-30/1 says something about views for the season rather than of an opening fixture.

Summer Time

A perennial minor niggle, which I am sure has been mentioned before. It is there all the time but rears its head during match reports.

Just read a post of the HT score against Curzon, timed at 2.51pm. Is it possible for the mods to change to and from BST at the relevant times of the year?

Also seems a shame to 'cram' games into August, when people may well be on holiday, rather than September, when those with school age kids certainly won't. Pitches should not be unplayable in September.

I still find it bizarre that a team such as BPA (and no disrepair to them intended),with their 63 points for the season, have a chance of getting promoted instead of Harrogate, with their 85 points.
