Re: Make or break season for AA

Amazed at how many fans are happy with mid table and will be until maybe a new ground comes along and increases our income. Realistically though it is still years away at best. Surely every pre season is about excitement at potentially how we can do. We all know last season that our defence cost us...

Re: Make or break season for AA

Some of you are very easily pleased. Armstrong is a brilliant manager for a club with no ambition. Basically that is what you are saying. How you would be able to contain yourselves if you supported a club like Bournemouth or Luton, who have massively over achieved I have no idea. Not sure what you...

Re: Make or break season for AA

AA stays as long as he wants to stay for me. With a mid table budget of course it's nice to aim for the play offs but reaching them would be an over achievement. I'm not sure I'd ever be comfortable with parting with a manager for not over achieving. Absolutely spot on regarding the playoffs would ...

The biggest worry was Martin himself replied to Stod’s done deal with a surprised emoji.

Hopefully it’s a surprise face as it’s not quite done rather than a ‘I’m not signing’ face

Re: New players and targets

John Lufudu has rejected new terms at Spendy. I know we already have Griff and Hedley but I think John would be an improvement on these two and we could push Ben into Midfield. I would be very suprised if we spent any more of the budget on another fullback. As for pushing Hedley into midfield, I do...

Dan ward released from Gateshead, wouldn’t mind having him.
Read somewhere that he might be going to Oldham
Owen Bailey released as well but I’m assuming he’d stay at that level too?

Re: AA Interview

Excellent interview with Alun Armstrong just uploaded by the club: https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/news/quakers-prepare-for-new-season CB should be signing soon. Surmising from the interview that Griffiths has also agreed to a new contract. Club are in constant contact with Ben Liddle. I know it is way ...

I’d have a look at Kian Scales. RB just released from Bradford. Was on loan at Farsley, and thought he played well against us. Looked quick

Marcus Carver, 6”1 ST released by Scunthorpe. Seems to have struggled at higher level but scored a lot for Chorley & Southport at this level. Lancashire based but has featured for Pools before.
I read that he was transfer listed and not released

Re: Nathan Buddle

Hasn't Lees left Blyth due to work commitments? Appreciate we are a heck of a lot closer to Harrogate than Blyth are, but how significant are these working commitments? My understanding is that he works in Knaresborough. So a trip to Catterick is a lot closer than Blyth. I'd be surprised if we aren...

You don't easily replace Lambert just like you can't easily replace Beck at this level. Not without a bit of luck / things lining up for you. Alex Pattison is the one who could legitimately replace the quality of Lambert if he struggles to land somewhere else over the summer. Would probably be anot...

Re: Retained list for 2023/24

So within 21 hours, the club went from, "Alun hasn't had chance to speak to all of the players due to being on holiday", to, "here is our retained list". Another climbdown. Just like the Sukar contract article & just like the Boost the Budget fines article. Be absolutely fantastic if the club didn'...

Re: Retained list for 2023/24

When Griffiths played I thought he looked our best full back, however not sure how many games he missed. Hedley needs to get back to 21/22 season form (easier said than done) Felix I really like but travelling must take its toll. Rivers I’m hoping we are offering as part of his role in the academy, ...

[emoji3595] No. You wrote that he might need 2 weeks away to come back and say "If I stay, we do this". I mean, who's he going to direct this towards? D.J. his boss? And in the meantime all things at the club go to sleep! Although I'm sure Alun does have emotions, I'm positive he won't take an age ...

Re: Meeting with board

Not sure I agree. Surely the discussion took place when he signed a new contract a few weeks ago about finances and the way forward from both sides. etc. This period is surely when players are released, approaches made etc, and a fully committed manager doing his job is what we need. If he is, then...

Re: Meeting with board

Don’t fully understand why the club is getting massive flack about the retained list. We aren’t in the minority as most clubs haven’t released theirs yet. Seen Boston from our league and perhaps 1 or 2 more. Think it’s people are impatient rather than the club being slow. If 20 of the 24 clubs had r...

Platt is from Pontefract, so it’s possible. I think Whitehouse lives in Doncaster so it’s possible, but I imagine he’s gonna have offers higher up. He’s too good for this level. Shocked Scunny have let him go. Some scunny fans weren’t happy Whitehouse leaving. They also weren’t happy about Mason O’...

McHale is top quality. Was at Telford. Just wasn't fit when he played for us. I'd love him back but can't see it. All this talk of Nelson. I completely understand wanting to keep him on a pay as you play deal. However I can almost see the future, he scores some goals, someone comes calling, gets him for free. The club come under fire from fans for not giving him a 2 year contract
