Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
We're never going to attract many kids along with the ground the way it is. There's just no way for them to see the game. We're far too reliant on flat, hard standing. Those seats are absolutely desperately needed, and even then they're not enough. A terrace which can be segregated depending on the ...

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
I *hated* the arena, and don't ever want to see us back there on a permanent basis. I think part of the hate came from it simply not being Feethams, which frankly i'm still not over we abandoned, and possibly never will be. It makes me so utterly furious to think about how we left a perfect sized, t...

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
I wasn't there today, but i'd assume because if the games I have seen this year, he's been very poor? (Not that Gillies has excelled particularly)
Where on earth is Wheatley? Is he injured? If we're not going to give him a go now, when nearly everyone is out of form, then what is the point.

Re: Darlington FC V Leamington Match Thread
Brutal attendance, brutal result.
Attendances i thought would be higher, but i think BM leaves a lot to be desired. Aside from being able to go for a beer and walk from the town, I think HP was actually a better experience. Sigh. We'll get there. There'll be more days like this though.

4-3-3 with Syers and Gillies in midfield? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Re: Martin Gray
and don't forget the seats need to be across two different sides? Do they? Yes, i'm pretty sure two seated stands are required. The obvious solution to that would be to move the dugouts to the other side of the pitch, alter the existing seating to four rows at the clubhouse so it counts to capacity...

Tis true, we've just never seen the plans for the next stage, other than at some point it's been mentioned at a fans forum a terrace will go in the unoccupied end. If we don't go up (and lets face it, it looks very, very unlikely this year), i'd still like to see us start building that terrace. Even...

Re: Martin Gray
There's little point in dwelling on it now, but really the Tinshed should have been built a couple of steps deeper (with an additional railing in there), and the seated stand should have been a couple of rows deeper too. As it, it leaves us in a bind long term. There's literally no point in dwelling...

Re: Chorley v Darlington
Awful night, started terribly and got worse. We're in a bad run of form for sure and with injuries mounting up we are in desperate need of new faces or a decent rest, neither of which are likely to happen. This is a tough league and it's massive oversimplification to say "well we finished 5th last ...

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
No, i agree with maintaining the price. There'll be a decent away following, we should get a 2k gate really. I'd be inclined to give Shields more than 600, move the barrier around next to the seated stand and give them 800-900. I do however, think every single penny should be going to the fund for t...

Re: Chorley v Darlington
FFS. No time for abuse, but it'd be nice to see Gray asked some searching questions by our journos for once. What's gone wrong, how he's going to fix it, and dare i say it, question wasting money on players coming in and moving on whilst barely playing. Why is Wheatley here and not even on the bench...

Ugh. What a mess. Reaction needed. Sounds absolutely diabolical.
I don't know how it's suddenly gone so badly wrong. We've been too one dimensional, and the signings that have come in, apart from Collins, haven't improved us.

Re: DFC Board very quiet on the Fundraising
It's very easy to sit behind a keyboard and say we should be doing more.
I think we need to hope for an FA Cup run. I'd like the board to announce that bonus cup income will be going towards the redevelopment, not the playing budget.

Re: FA CUP HOME v SOUTH SHIELDS
It's a brilliant draw and will definitely be making the trip for this one. It'll be interesting to see how BM handles a large away following. I'd expect Shields to sell out.... Whatever happens, I seriously hope the profits are earmarked for investment in the seating. Winning could help pay off a de...

Re: A tale of 2 halves
Agree on the luxuries point, but it feels like Gillies produces a lot more often than Thompson at this level. I like Thompson, and he's been with us for so long, but he just doesn't seem as effective at this level. Back to basics required formation wise. Still believe we can make the playoffs this y...

Re: Southport v Darlo Match Thread
I'm not surprised Catons confidence has taken a beating. He missed a lot of chances at North Ferriby.... then he's dropped... then immediately brought back.... I don't know. It won't do a lot for a players mindset. We need a shake up, but i don't really know how to do it. I'd at least play Saunders....

Could be that the management have just decidedly that money will be well spent elsewhere. Can't win can we. I think it's fair enough for folks to question why we're spending money on players we have no real need for, that are moved on after just over a month at the club. What will that month have c...

Re: Fewster signs for Spenny
It's a shame, for me. I was excited about the prospect of him signing, and i'm still surprised he hasn't gone higher up the pyramid. We'll see what happens. If he bangs them in and they sell him for a profit, we have egg on our faces. If he flops, we look rather clever. I suspect it might be the for...

Absolutely baffled why he played yesterday... If Gray knew, why the heck wouldn't he play Saunders? (We could have used his pace too). Hope it's to make room for Fewster, and i hope we didn't waste a lot of money doing it... That's two that have come in, done nothing, and been moved on, and i doubt ...

Here's hoping we get him in, i have serious doubts about Fenwick, and Caton needs too many chances (if Saturday is anything to go by). We would've been much better off with Saunders yesterday, they looked vulnerable to pace.

Re: Boost in the Seating Phase 2
At the end of the day, a decision on any loan would be made by the board. I'm not 100% against it, and they need to find a way to get some works done, not only for the seats, but also the terrace (One the size of the HP one) and facilities (I think if you build the extra terrace, you'll need another...
