Re: Darlington V Gloucester
Agreed, I think this year could be a goal feast at both ends. Although, in our favour we have some experience at the back and the best keeper we’ve had in years. I think we could possibly instruct Purver to sit just in front of the back line to help out more. We have more than enough going forward t...

Re: The worst football shirt you'll see this season?
The biggest thing in its favour is that it doesn’t look like a Hartlepool shirt.
Tbh I don’t think it’s that bad and I don’t mind going a bit funky with away kits as a rule.

Also supports a local business too and it would surely be hard to bugger it up / lead to complaints. Failing that, I wonder if there's actually some local food trucks who might fancy doing it? (i.e. not the lowest common denominator burger van stuff but the guys who go to food festivals etc). I thin...

Re: Guiseley V Darlo
I think lets not panic just yet... We're a couple of signings short (I expect that loans will happen once the season begins as most of the league teams like the young lads with them for pre-season) and these are essentially fitness-building exercises anyway. We will judge things when the season prop...

Just buy a bunch of pies and sausage rolls from Taylors and sell those. Bags of crisps and sweets for the kids. Just seems the easy option, everything from Taylors will be spot on anyway. Sold at a bit of a markup so everyone gets paid. I must admit, as others have said above, i'm not the target aud...

Re: DJ Interview 18/07/22
Last time we attempted that, it ended poorly (the TW midlands import era). I don't necessarily think it's doomed the same way again, but it comes with risks for sure. We need to make sure we pad the squad out a bit with some loanees too (something TW only seemed to recognise at the end of his tenure...

He’s only 28, which is a bit mental. Exciting signing for sure, he’s either going to flop or be a huge success. I can’t imagine a middle ground.

Re: New stadium funding
lo I'm not sure I understand some of your logic. You refer to Sandhills as an interchange station. Earlier on you explain "Interchange" is somewhere where people will stop and spend money but that doesn't happen does it at Sandhills as fans just get off the train there and straight onto a bus to th...

Re: New stadium funding
When we moved to the Arena I did wonder if there were any plans to put a train station close by - the Bishop to Saltburn line runs very close to the ground (though even closer to Billy Welch's gypsy site). Assuming a train ride would be less than a fiver, it would have stopped people grumbling abou...

I suspect this is probably correct. You could even have us vs Blyth and Spenny vs Scarborough. Wouldn't make that much difference either way.bigdavethemaddog wrote: ↑Sat May 21, 2022 8:36 pmBlyth v Spendy, Scarborough v Darlo as dont forget Gateshead have gone

Re: New stadium funding
Well yes, obviously. And disabled parking, but what I'm getting at is we don't need to bolt on an extra football pitch worth of land for people to leave their cars on, as seems the way for most developments these days. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk The issue in Darlington is that public t...

Nowt has stopped there for years.Fatty eats roadkill wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 9:12 pmThere isn’t a new station at the airport and the current one is foooked, that’s why nowt is stopping there. The cost of building light rail from Bishop to Saltburn you could have heavy rail every 10 minutes till the end of time.

Re: New stadium funding
No passenger train stops at Teesside Airport and won’t be for a long long time. Wouldn’t trust Houchen as far as I can piss into the wind. £6 million to rebuild that station but only £4million for Horden. Somethings not right. He also claimed he paid for Teesside Uni to come to Darlo till I pointed...

Re: New stadium funding
It will have to be a decent footprint of land if we are wanting a stadium, 4G pitches and a carpark. I just hope it's as close to the town centre as possible - but its fantastic news none the less. With Ben on board we have a good ally (like or loathe his politics) and he does have a track record o...

Re: Good news today
I don’t know all the statistics but I’ve watched the highlights and it definitely isn’t all hard standing. There’s a main stand with seats raised above standing (kinda like Bishop), a sizeable stand opposite with seats in the middle and terracing on either side, and a terrace behind one of the goals...

Re: Good news today
They have improved that now though. There's a decent stand opposite the small main stand. I don't know if they need to do more to meet the requirements at this level, but it's reasonably tidy looking right now.

Re: Farsley match thread
It is more frustrating that I believe had events not unfolded as they did at Alfreton we would be in a playoff position now. Wins against Alfreton, Curzon, Bradford PA and Farsley would have been an extra 9 points and we'd be going into the Kidderminster game with it in our hands. I think the Curzo...

Delighted for them. Proper football club and a proper away day. Will have to try and make the trip for that one. Interested to see their new ground.
Peterborough Sports also. Which is an easy trip on the train, if nothing else.

I liked Hughes as a person and he clearly has some footballing talent, but he was initially signed as a midfielder and was just quite obviously incapable of playing the position due to his weight. While there's obviously personal responsibility to consider, the management are responsible for the pla...

Re: Management
Not a fan of changing managers during the season unless it's a complete disaster and the manager has totally lost the fans. To me, Alun should get next season unless he's basically in danger of taking us down somehow (which I can't imagine). I agree I'd like to see some progress towards the playoffs...

Re: The Top 12, Monday April 18th 2022
I think it's generally a reasonable point that you'd expect South Shields to go up. Not just because of their budget but because they'd almost certainly have gone up in the prior year curtailed by covid. They changed their manager for a big name and made a mess of things. While Buxton certainly dese...

Re: NPL and Southern Central play offs
Kevin Phillips failing at South Shields is totally hilarious... To be honest, I've been hoping for Scarborough anyway. I think we can all relate to what they've been through, and with their new ground, it has the potential for a heck of an away day. The South? Eesh. Who cares. Coalville sounded made...

Wonder what is happening with Tyrone O’Neill. Is he injured or just out of favour? Likely to be released by Scunthorpe I would think, but would we be looking to sign him for next season? If he just needs some time to regain full fitness he could be worth taking a chance on, but the memory of Andrew...

I'm assuming two teams up from each division? As a Shropshire exile I'd be hoping to see rushall and Warrington come up but I'm pretty sure I'm in a minority there. Regardless, given the number of southern teams coming into this level you'd assume all four teams wil be landing in the NLN, plus king...
