Re: Appeal
An alternative view. We've all blamed ourselves (i.e. the club) for unawareness of a significant rule change last year which went unnoticed. Any appeal should take in to account how this change was communicated. It can't have been well promoted because it didn't appear on the radar till now. Those i...

Re: Best ever Darlo players (Northern Echo)
As has been said, you can only chose players from your era. I'm 60y Any side would have to have Tony moor in goals, and include John Peverell, Marco Gabbiadini, Lance Robson, Craig Liddell.... I've seen all our goalkeepers since the early sixties and Tony Moor has to be our first choice. (With apol...

Re: Fans' Behaviour
If the club has a "pondlife policy" for dealing with these thugs I'd like to hear what it is. We could then help more if we knew what evidence was required and in what format. Such a policy could be communicated via the website and/or matchday programme. Frankly the yobs sicken me. I hope they are r...

Re: Ranieri
I think it was a stupid decision to sack him. The players had obviously let him down; did success go to their heads? Whatever went wrong, he was clearly trying to change tactics to sort things out. Vardy has returned to the shadows but he's not the only one. Perhaps the board did Ranieri a favour. H...

I have a clear memory of David Frost plodding along the touchline beside the East Stand in at camel colour coat, looking as if he didn't want to get his shoes muddy. Don't know what year it was. I wasn't very old and neither was he.

I'd say the logical solution would be for joint signage with the names of the football and rugby clubs on the same board.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
Attendance was 1,837...what are thoughts on that? Bit of an unexpected dip for me I really didn't think we'd go lower than 2,000 at BM. It was such a cold day and I suspect a lot of people thought twice and maybe decided they'd rather be somewhere warmer. Additionally results haven't been good rece...

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
I thought this was a difficult one to sum up, I didn't think Nuneaton ever looked like scoring and a penalty (which they got) seemed likely to be the only way they would nick one. From where I was, it did look like a clear penalty. We worked as hard as ever and we were difficult to break down, but i...

You can't blame anyone who can get paid that sort of money just for playing football. However who really wants to watch them? Last night's footie served up on BBC between Man City and West Ham - a one sided match if ever there was one - was a typical example of what goes wrong when rich clubs buy th...

I made the mistake of getting married on cup final day. As several of the guests pointed out. As that was in 1984 I rather hope they've forgotten about it now.

Reading these pages, you'd think we lost on Monday. I say leave the lad alone. If he saved every shot he'd be playing for Barcelona now. Let the club give him all the support it can and may the supporters give him all the encouragement they can. Even at the highest level I can recall an England keep...

Re: Constructive views on the Blackwell experience
Someone has mentioned that for rugby purposes there has to be quite a large run off area behind the goal, and someone else said they felt this reduced their experience of being in the tin Shed. Noptwithstanding these issues, for health and safety purposes I feel the crowd barrier in front of the Tin...

For those who couldn't go, I'll try and give some first impressions. These are subjective; others will have different thoughts. I get to the ground early at 2pm. There are already a lot inside and plenty making their way. Turnstiles for home fans are easy to find - as instructed by the club pre-matc...

From Mr S. C. Rooge. Dotheboys Hall: 22/12/16. Just returned from Germany and over there they are playing all the same British Christmas music that makes you cringe every year when you turn on the radio for up to 2 weeks before Christmas. Could anything be more banal than the lyrics of Driving Home ...

"It's the Cup. Anything can happen". Well it did, last night. This sort of thing (and temporary dips in form) have been happening since the Ebac league, and always will. Apparently Liverpool had a bit off a setback earlier this week. And some Leicester City hot heads have been calling for their mana...

Wasn't it Telford who beat us 3-0 away, after we beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in the 1985 Cup replay, or is my memory playing tricks?

No, we didn't even have a Dansette record player in 1966, but if the guys at Heritage Park played us some of the music that was charting in 1966, it would be a site better than what we get now. Come to that, perhaps the HP guys are still using a Dansette every match day, this would account for the c...

Re: Who do you want as the next England manager?
It strikes me that whoever gets the England job will be shuffling the same pack of cards so does it matter whose name it is? The outcomes will be the same and the pundits will observe that it looks like what we had before with Sam and Roy. In my view we have a set of overpaid prima-donnas who - when...

Well whatever the raucous cacophony we endure at HP, it's never as bad as we got at Feethams - especially when water entered the speakers. There'll be a fresh opportunity to get it right when we move to BM.

At 60 years of age, my hearing is average, I only ever hear one or two of the team selection names read out, and if there's music going on at the same time, I've no chance. To be honest, unless the sound quality could be improved, it would make little difference to me if there was none at all. It do...
