Re: Sports Village (latest)
Of course they want us on board and have done for a couple of years now really, around about when they realised all the cash they had was disappearing fast. I am not against any option but I prefer real logic with facts, costs, pros, cons etc. before I go one way or the other. I actually don't like...

Re: Ownership and Finance
It is clear to me, that we have gone as far as we can with a fan's own club and apathy will probably mean we would have to drop down a league to find our level and be happy with that level. The only other option is to give up the fans ownership to an investor, but as there are none around, we may h...

Re: York V Darlington
Although I'm not sure why people are clamouring for Ainge's return. He's done sweet FA this season for us, and sadly I think that serious injury he suffered last season has done for him. I think that this answers a query raised above about why when we lost Nelson and Hughes to injury why Ainge wasn...

Re: York V Darlington
The York fans are permanently cheesed off. They have a massive chip on their shoulder about their present position. Add to this the fact that their present set of players just aren't very good - and being full time doesn't really negate this problem. What worries me most is that our hotshot striker...

Re: Josh Heaton
If our club got early wind of the St Mirren desire to move him on and the full 75 was based on appearances it may also explain some of the turn about in our finances, especially if this was going to mean losing out on as much as 50k.

I don't know about the other players but it was quite clear that when Andrew Nelson was speaking that he was suffering with some sort of cold.

Re: Sat 29th Dec - Ashton United (Home)
Although Nelson rightly got MOTM, thought Hughes was immense in the centre of the defence, especially when you consider he wasn't fully fit. One of the truly pleasing things to have come out of the first half of this season is the transformation of Hughes from pantomime villain to as near a thing t...

Re: Sat 29th Dec - Ashton United (Home)
Can't believe that was almost the same side that thrashed York on Boxing Day! First 20mns we pressed well but had no shots on target. Nelson took his chance really well, dinking the ball like a seasoned pro for his first. We then lost the plot, could not string 2 passes together and just totally ce...

Re: Josh Heaton
If he's available at a negligible price (i.e. the type we could afford) I'd imagine there will be clubs higher up the pyramid willing to take a punt on him You may well be right but that would assume that these clubs had him on the radar before he went to Scotland and can forgive the lack of impact...

Amazing what one win can do - I'm fully expecting a win tomorrow. Hopefully we can a decent crowd in and there's a bit of atmosphere Yes it is amazing how different things look when you believe again after you get the sort of result we had on Boxing Day, and looking at the performance as much as th...

Re: Josh Heaton
Well if Heaton would be happy to return to Darlo and St Mirren want shot at least cost, maybe some arrangement over the remaining fee owed to Darlo would work well for both sides and put Darlo in pole position to sign him. We can't afford his wages or to give up on expected cash coming in, that wil...

Listening in to Darlofans radio yesterday with Liam Hughes on the commentary team, apart from being a natural and entertaining, Liam was able to analyse our deficiencies and see things that everyone apart from TW can see. A caretaker player/manager in waiting and it won't cost us. Sack Wright now. ...

It is certainly a refreshingly innovative idea to have someone other than a forward to captain the side. Perhaps TW will take heed of this if such radical thinking comes off.

I see that the temptation to replace Tommy has been too great and he has finally left Man U. So the long debate over who we could possibly hope to get to replace TW is over.

Re: Andrew Nelson....
It is very welcome to see some new faces to hopefully freshen things up when the team is in a slump, but it does say something about TW's philosophy that all three loan signings to date are attackers. Given the goals we gave away last Saturday it appears that there is still a need to help the midfie...

The money’s all coming out of the same pot. If not, which budget did it come out of? This is a £450k turn over business - they can’t just magic a full time wage out of “another budget’” I'd love to know the answer to the general point you make here and the OP. I wanted Tommy to succeed when he came, (I realise there are some who didn't want him at the club, to be honest I didn't want Martin Gray as manager when we went into the Northern League and I was proved wrong), because he had the club at his heart, understood the financial constraints and had mana...

My impression was that when he arrived Ainge believed in the sales pitch that we were aiming to be involved in a promotion push. Re: Chester V Darlington
Hope I'm wrong but the lack of muscular presence up front suggests that this is likely to end with Chester seeing the game out to a win. As has been said elsewhere the timing of losing Syers on top of Ainge being missing again, sees us with little to set up goalscoring opportunities.

Re: Chester V Darlington
What's up with Ainge now, though clearly wasn't fit last week. If Ainge is struggling to get fit, then we need a striker on loan while he builds back up his fitness. Again the timing of the Syers transfer was strange, left us really short up front - surely we could have kept him for one more game. ...

It’s just a complete mess, we have sold basically many of our best players, Heaton, Turnbull, Gillies, Styche, Syers, O’Hanlon, presumably all bringing in cash, with some decent amounts among them . We received an extra £20k for the goal celebration, the fans raised £80k, and we are still averaging...

Re: Dave Syers gone
The new Commercial Manager's salary has to be found from somewhere. In reality, selling all the advertising boards around the ground @ £500 apiece plus a few extra match sponsorships isn't even going to pay a basic wage. I'm assuming a capable individual is going to want a minimum of £25k a year ot...

Having thought about it, it may be that this plan was already in the pipeline last week and may help explain the lacklustre performance in the cup.
