Re: TW,s tactical nous!
Well, we don’t have any defensive midfielders who can keep hold of the ball, so it’s limited what he could do. He does need to recognise that it’s a problem area, and bring a ball winning player in, or move Hughes just in front of 2 centre backs to do it. He was outstanding yesterday, and I thought ...

Re: Sat 29th Dec - Ashton United (Home)
I'd be surprised if it's that high. A fair few of the last crowd were York fans, remember, plus you always get a boost on Boxing day.
1,400 I reckon. Really looking forward to this one!

Re: Josh Heaton
We don't have any money. The only way he ends up back here is a loan.
Which, if he plays well, might be St Mirren's best hope of getting some money back on him.

Positive with the loans. Especially Kokolo and the Barnsley lads being extendable.

Re: Boxing Day v York City
I need to get to games more often. Fortunately I’ll also be there on Saturday :D It was nice to just enjoy the game for a change. The loans have made a difference, and the next challenge is getting some of them to stay for a longer stint. Palmer was excellent, and hopefully might be up to the idea. ...

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Because it's an awful, soulless bowl, and a reminder of rotten times. I agree, it's a sign of where we are that we can't really host a game with the potential for bother. BM isn't ready for it until there's another stand and access point at the empty end. But i'd still far rather we heavily restrict...

With our 5 new signings who I am assuming will all play , how will TW line us up? I'll have first go; Maddison, Trotman Smith Galbraith Kokolo, Wollerton Palmer Wheatley Nicholson, Nelson Saunders. Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Ah right, so the people who want this to just go off without a major incident / it costing the club a fortune in policing are boring... righto. It's just a realistic look at the state of Blackwell right now. With no stand to put the away fans in, there's hard standing, no proper segregation, and a f...

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
I think it is technically a first team game, but no one sees it that way. Honestly, I just want us to get through it without incident. I know that's really negative, but it's an indictment of the situation at Blackwell. There's one way in and one, and there's not really adequate segregation. If ther...

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Easiest option might be not allowing away fans at all. It's a Durham challenge cup game, surely they'll be playing the kids, and we will (albeit with a scattering of first teamers, like the other games). Not sure if rules of competition allow that. That would be up to DFA rules, if they have ever c...

Re: Chorley V Darlington match thread
He can't organise a defence (team?), i think that's become clear. He managed to get two outstanding players (at this level) in Heaton and Pears, which dug us out of the mess last year. Unfortunately you can characterise Wrights entire time here with bad defensive organisation, and ultimately, bad ta...

Re: Chorley V Darlington match thread
Ooof, there is some bad, bad goalkeeping in there. For a lad who has played in the lower reaches of the football league, Maddison is very much lacking some physicality. Yes, he could tip the ball over for the first, or he could go up and claim it. He's shown some good shot stopping ability, but he n...

Re: Netcafe - 14 December 2018
So, all in, BM barely costs us any more (Obviously we've spent a lot on construction costs, but that was to be expected), and crucially it's up to the required standard for this level and in Darlington. It has its many flaws, but those details are crucial. Heritage Park had ceased to be an option un...

Folks at the game; how did Wollerton & Kokolo get on?
I'd be begging Nelson to stay at this point, if he's as sharp as people have suggested. We can only try, and they can only say no.

Re: Gorilla fan
That was my thinking, it sounded like it was about the Arena, and the big about the shirts would make more sense in that context too... but sadly, I’m not sure it is. Also, nuts to the Feethams criticism. It was falling apart at the end because we weren’t taking care of it, because we were leaving. ...

Re: Chorley vs Darlington - Rearranged
What’s the betting Tommy will replace Harvey with Nelson and put the new lad from Leeds on the bench as I don’t see him dropping Elliott and O’Hanlon as he appears very loyal to these two. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I actually think that's what will happen, and don't think it's necessarily a ...

Re: Chorley vs Darlington - Rearranged
If i was a gambling man, i'd suspect we will go with the new lad and Thompson up top, and drop Harvey to the bench. No issue with Harvey at all, but take the expectation off him a bit and see what the new lad can do. I think the new midfield lad from Leeds (Wollarton?) will be on the bench right now...

How many years would you have had to have *not* been to a game to think we don't play in hoops. The last completely hoopless shirt we played in was nearly a decade ago (I'm counting the errea gold & black hoop here from 11-12). *Everyone* misses Feethams, but the crucial point is that it's irreplace...

Players to keep: Maddison, Galbraith, Thompson, Saunders, Wheatley, Nicholson. Maybe Trotman, although if someone wants to buy him, i'd take the money. The rest? We probably don't have the resources to sack TW, but we would have the option of placing him on gardening leave, and letting AW have a go, and bring in a couple of coaches to support him (Pears? Gregan? Atkinson?). It's the only option if he continues to sink us, and can't motivate the team to turn...
