Re: South Shields v Darlo
Don't know what the right approach is with this sort of thing... it seems different clubs have different attitudes when there's violence involved. It is quite a subjective call based on the impact of any backlash especially once a person has 'served their time' (as determined by the courts) so to s...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
Rushall have taken an interesting approach to this by pretty much ignoring it completely and not making any reference to it whatsoever as if it didn't happen. Wonder what became of Marcus Maddison? Didn't he say he wanted to become a tattoo artist or something? Unless he has been released after 25%...

Re: Reset
Can I sum up the first post. The economics, when run as a not for profit, don't provide a return on investment. We therefore need to relinquish control to a private investor who won't be able to get a return on their investment. If we can't generate enough surplus income to provide a return on inves...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
I'd sooner we use the existing yellow and red cards to sort out the issues at hand (including dissent but also timewasting) rather than introducing things like cards no one asked for which might very well make other problems worse. The cards are for existing offences. The punishment for the offence...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
The sin bin is based on a view that clubs care more about results than £10 fines. It's actually being discussed around translating disciplinary into actual points sanctions. The FA are discussing with the various leagues at the moment. Some amateur leagues have began doing it and view is that might ...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
If you look online today there is some stuff kicking off in Australia at the moment. They have confirmed they lose 40% of officials year on year and the main reason given is abuse. People think it is extreme but there is a genuine fear from FIFA and all the country FAs that football is no longer sus...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
To be honest none of that will matter when there aren't any left - and that is what every FA across Europe is worried about at the moment - from what I was told there were basically crisis talks around it last summer based on the data which was being seen.

Re: Blue card & sin bins
I should add - it might actually be worth some journalists digging into the origins of this stuff - and the ramp up in attention to participant behaviour this season in the pro game. To be honest though I doubt they will as frankly 95% of the problems are being generated or exacerbated by a media wh...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
What if a team getting beat has 2 men sent off then 1 in sin bin so only have 8 men on pitch does the game get abandoned ? No. The minimum number of players required on the field is 7 per team. ;) Okay Old Git, what happens if a team has 2 players sent off (down to 9) then 2 in the sin bin (now 7) ...

Re: Blue card & sin bins
Sin bins must have been in football for about 6 or 7 seasons now and became mandatory below Northern Prem level about 5 years ago. Sure it was 2017 for trials and 2019/20 season that they became mandatory? Only remember as that season our pool did Northern Prem (no sin bin) and North West Counties /...

Precautionary usually means by club officials - often with a match official lined up if needed.
If there is absolutely no concern then there is no reason to get an official in.

Re: Brackley v Darlington
So you don't want expertise in running a football club at a director level you just want a new club secretary?
Due to errors made by our first secretary after reforming (Shildon and the international clearance thing - 10? years ago), and the next one after that (seat gate - I think - 6? years ago)

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
Without getting to much in to it, that mentality of being minnows, or the unlucky club, or the no money club, needs to stop right across the FC. We are Darlington Football Club, backed by a fantastic fan-base that provides the club with adequate resources (in terms of voluntary hours & financial su...

Or are you, yet again, simply trying to show your superior knowledge of all things football? These are very speci...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
I still say we need someone on the board who has worked within the game and understands the workings. Or at very least, someone who could be reached on the end of a phone or listened to when they offer advice free of charge. All I will say. I am pretty sure the last time we brought someone in as a ...

Re: Asante
If you listen to a podcast that Johnson did online, he goes in to depth on Gaskell signing for us, and it goes against what you are saying on here. What actually happened is somewhat irrelevant. Yes I am definitely suggesting that he used a player from 9 years ago as part of his deflection. The ful...

I'd agree with this the aswell. I also don't think Asante is the first player ever to disappoint when expected to be relatively well paid.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 11:09 pmPS, as an aside I reckon that he will be on a good wage and so far he's been disappointing - the "huge huge money" thing is a distraction.

I still think Armstrong should have been persevered with despite the poor run, just as I think the board need to learn from their mistakes. I'm not calling for heads to roll. I agree with this to be honest - and was always happy to perserve with Armstrong even if it got us to a more natural end poi...

How long is Asante’s contract? Does anyone know - or think they know? If we had offered Beck what Asante is on he may not have left, £30k between signing and the end of the season has been mentioned. Also heard via a player that hes contracted for next season too. Does that not suggest we would hav...

Winding people up is literally what he spends 95% of his time doing he didn't lie, he just alluded to something which has been lapped up (exactly what he ...
