Re: David Stockdale

I wouldn’t read too much into it. I think he just wants to keep playing. York gave him that opportunity. He quite obviously couldn’t keep working with us informally while he’s at York, so they’ve given him some kind of non-playing role too. He’s still relatively young for a keeper and could play for...

I don’t think there’s anyone among our fan base who is absolutely against private investment it’s just a question of there being a safeguard against idiots. Tbh I can’t imagine many idiots being interested at this point. We’ve no real assets of interest.

Re: National League North 23/24 - FA League Allocations

I question that the 'national league' should actually be a national league anyway. It's a recipe for financial disaster stories and we shouldn't have non-league sides having to do monster journeys on limited budgets. Expand the football league to 100 sides, and below that, make football regional. A...

Re: National League North 23/24 - FA League Allocations

Possibly, but is it representative in terms of footballing participation? Cornwall and Devon are largely footballing deserts. The North is comparatively far more active, far more teams, far more footballing history, and produces more players for the national team (by population percentages). I quest...

Re: New players and targets

Malik Dijksteel has been released by Wrexham Just had a look sounds like a real prospect, local lad , could use us a stepping stone, with the right contact of course 👍 I'm not sure dutch counts as local  He is the Boro's Dijksteel's brother though, so if his brother doesn't mind putting it up ...

Re: National League North 23/24 - FA League Allocations

It's not emotional though, it's a consequence of the stupid system they have put into the step below ours where they gave four leagues parity despite three of the four being southern leagues. The inevitable consequence is that it further imbalances our level. It's not only unfair to clubs like ours...

Depressingly it will almost certainly be Spennymoor. Would far prefer Shields or Blyth. Scarborough and Scunny are much further away and I can't imagine them being in the running.

No one is going to go and watch them and they will die. I don't know who is funding it but it strikes me that it's a bored Man United fan. Are Salford and 'FC United' not enough for them?

Yeah kind of agree with the above. What was the point?

The stadium vagueness is particularly tedious. Presumably they now have to find time to concoct an excuse because the town didn’t vote as instructed.

Re: Players on radar

I think it’s clear we need to have a whole squad approach. While I think Alun has clearly identified some good players we’ve frequently lost them for frankly non-consequential amounts of money and the team has badly suffered as a consequence. Beck, Charman, Hatfield all being very obvious examples w...

Maybe there’s some local assets he can give away for £100 like the teesport… if a change of council endangers the plan, it seems to me that it either might not be a good plan, or it’s tied up in dodgy mates rates deals. You mean like labour did with the sale of Teesside Airport to Peel? Citation ne...

Re: Who stays and who goes

A mess at the back, and our entire success/style of play was fixated on one player - who AA would have known had a clause in his contract to leave. The manager, i'm afraid, has to take responsibility for both of those. We are no different to plenty of other clubs who lose key players to clubs above...

I think he has to stay but I think there needs to be agreement on expected progression because, frankly, I think we wouldn't have been happy to have not made the playoffs once since he has been appointed to the role if we went back in our time machines. Being competitive for the playoffs in this lea...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham

To be fair Skerningham is a very unpopular development for locals in that area and the more that comes out about the land owners Corney and his crew and local elections in May I just can’t see it happening. So that leaves Faverdale which is miles out of town and all that traffic going through West ...

Re: Scarborough Away - Mon 2nd Jan (SOLD OUT)

By way of a comparison, a Football Banning Order in the courts will be for a minimum period of two years, up to a maximum of ten. The purpose of a ban is to prevent future disorder, and rehabilitation doesn’t come into it. 12 months seems a little on the lenient side (in my opinion). I just don't a...

I honestly don’t think it’s a great location for the football club, but Christ NIMBY campaigners drive me nuts. Said NIMBY in chief quoted as saying the site is being proposed for ‘no good reason’. It strikes me that over 1,500 homes in a country with a severe shortage of housing is a rather good re...

Coming back to the earlier point of normalised Homophobia and misogyny in football, I'm not sure if anyone has the Man United game on, but some pretty audible chanting of 'Chelsea rent boy' there... let's see if any action is taken.

I don’t think that would’ve done anything to prevent this. Idiots are idiots. What’s important is not excusing their behavior. Their age is, of course, irrelevant, but it’s merely an observation of how terms like ‘snowflake’ are thrown around by those who should often know better and are just being ...

Re: Tipping point in this league?

There’s some bonkers finances at this level (and to an extent the level above). Some of this is all a weird imbalance because you have former football league clubs like ourselves who fell on hard times down here and a collection of overfunded micro-clubs with very few real fans. I don’t begrudge the...

There were a handful of sexist comments made early on but these seemed to stop after the first delay. If the official had continued the second half on the same line she probably wouldn’t have had any more comments made. The fact she swapped lines left her open to the same thing happening with the h...

Obviously the problem is misogynists, it's just that the idiots will misbehave more if they think they can get away with it, and a few more police officers dotted around would help. Some of the recent crowds have been around 3000, this number of people is way more than normal and warrants more poli...

With our away form this season compared to our home form, how about we just sack off building a new ground, save the cash, and just play everyone away from home twice each season and become full time nomads? You're stuffed if you're under 6ft and not in the Tin-Shed or seated stand. That said, the last time we had much larger home attend...

Really like A. I don't understand the perpetual moaning about the kit 'being the same'. It's clearly not the same, it is a different hooped kit. Other teams in hoops don't whine about this, so I don't understand why some of our fans do. I don't understand the thinking behind why some random white ki...

Really good article all very positive. My only concern about Skerningham is it’s very unpopular locally and in next Mays election if there’s a change of council to Labour I can see the whole scheme being scrapped. We need to vote Tory for the good of the football club. My fears exactly about Labour...
