Re: Alun has been sacked

You are still quoting the article and saying it proves your point, then admitting things may have changed in the time since it was written. Sorry I do not get that logic. I was not, until recently, at all interested in going back to the arena, but, and your comment agrees with this, time, (and the ...

Re: Alun has been sacked

First line, "and intend to reveal the location of their preferred site for a new stadium in the town before the end of the year." Simple question, Which year? Here we are 3/4 of the way through the following year. When was the last time we were actually told anything? From what I have read on here ...

Re: Alun has been sacked

I am going to come straight out with this, I have totally lost faith that we are going to get a plot of land and be able to build a new stadium in what is left of my lifetime. Simply no way will we ever be able to afford it. The only possible way we could have any sort of chance of a return to the ...

Primacy of tenture was defeated in court as a restriction of trade. It does not apply anymore and is a complete red herring in this discussion.
Regardless, we're not going back.

It is not a red herring in this discussion, as there is no discussion.

Re: Alun has been sacked

What reasons? We don’t have to spend £5-£7m on a new stadium at the edge of Darlington is Faverdale or Skerningham and the Arena is a Football stadium that could take Fan standing what’s not to like. The operational running costs and proposed commercial arrangements (at the Arena) do not create a s...

Re: Alun has been sacked

The writing has been on the wall for Alun for a while now, his body language and his demeanour in his post match interview last night said it all he knew what was coming, it's a shame but not entirely unexpected. I expect more difficult days will lie ahead, avoiding relegation is the be all and end ...

Having had chance to finally sift through the myriad of nonsense in this thread there a few things I would like to address.... 1. We are not owed an explaination for Armstrong's absence on Saturday, it has been cited as personal reasons and that's the end of it, neither the club nor the manager are ...

Enjoyed the atmosphere back at a proper old ground I know it's now 35 years old but I struggle to see Glanford Park as a "proper old ground". That phrase always makes me think of Feethams, Bootham, Edgar Street etc rather than Glanford, Bescot etc It's in better nick at 35 than the Arena is at 20!

Re: Armstrong not up to the task

While I'm far from "Armstrong Out", I'm not sure that any of what you're saying particularly shifts any blame from the management. While we might not have been beaten "tactically", all of the reasons you give for us losing can be put down to the way the team is prepared for the game. Fine margins, ...

Re: Armstrong not up to the task

I thought I would leave it a few days - so my post did not look like a knee-jerk reaction to the result on Saturday. However, once again we have been beaten tactically by a team we should have secured all three points against. it was the back end of last season all over again. why 'should' we beat ...

Re: Curzon crowd

I have mixed feelings about yesterday to be honest, we saw the good, the bad and the ugly all rolled into one. Losing at home to Curzon isn't particularly shocking as they do have a knack of beating us, especially at home! In some ways it was a re-run of last season's home game with them in April we...

Heard similar murmurings myself a while ago, naturally took it with a pinch of salt.

Apparently a sticking point was Fylde wanted us to pay half his wages which we weren't able to do, this then changed to us paying a % of his wages while Fylde pay the rest.

I'll believe it if/when I see it.

Unfortunately for some, I’ll prepare for an eternity at Blackwell (which 20 years at Blackwell will almost certainly feel like) before I’ll vote Tory ;) To be honest the 20 years since we left Feethams feel like a millennia, it's crazy to think we've had more seasons away from the Arena than when w...

I’m almost certain it was a twenty year lease we signed? So we won’t even be halfway. No immediate concerns of us being homeless.
Just as well.

As long as there are labour voters there will be no new ground. ;)

Re: Echo casting doubt on plans for new ground

The thread title is somewhat misleading as doubt is being cast over the prospect of a new ground being built at Skerningham which, lets face it, shoudln't come as a surprise as Faverdale was almost always the more realistic option out of the two. I see there are the usual ignoramuses spewing their i...

It's been fucked since last season, when we were on an awful run with a better squad of players. 8-)

Also since when we were allowed to say fuck again? Unless people have been intentionally filtering their language.

In hindsight for Reynolds probably the only decent decision he made building that stadium… knew he wouldn’t be there in 20 years or if we did make the prem we would have the money to update it I agree, building a 25,000 capacity stadium for a Third Divsion club regularly struggling getting gates of...

I heard that the Arena may not get a safety certificate in the near future, so where do they play then? So am I right in thinking we've had more 'post-Arena' seasons now than we actually had at the Arena? Yes. We had nine seasons there between 2003 - 2012 and it's been eleven years since we left, including the two seasons that were disrupted by Covid next season will be our twelfth post Arena season!

Alun literally said in his interview yesterday "but I knew what I'd signed up to", so we need to put to bed this "if he's unhappy he should do x, y or z" stuff, as it's dragging out the feeling of malaise and it's almost like some fans want it to be like that. A good week off to recharge the batter...

No point in creating a new thread so may as well bump this one. Whilst I do sympathise with Alun, at the same time I do believe he should be held responsible for our embarassing capitulation this season as much as the players. Yes, it is frustrating to lose your better players to other clubs but two...

Taken from the Tin Shed FB page.
We told Alun we’d finished a point off the playoffs. His response was ‘well the chairman of the supporters group will be delighted by that’ …no need for that response
Make of that what you will.
