Re: Engage with the Football Club Board event this Wed. @7.00pm
Box ticking exercise. Seriously, what meaningful questions can be asked? "Why have we only got 7 points?" "Why did Armstrong sign the players that he did?" "What's the target for the next Boost the Budget?" - (ahh, preparing the benefactors is probably the real reason for arranging this) Hopefully I...

Re: Josh Gowling...
Just noting that Union Berlin are fan owned. Maybe Josh and Danny can arrange a friendly! They've got 40,000 owners. Who knows where the Darlington roller-coaster will take us next. Berlin anyone? I've been to a home game at Union Berlin. Fantastic atmosphere and Club. I would urge people to read u...

Re: Alun has been sacked
Fortunately most of those at the top of our Club today weren’t involved in the 2011 period. They could make a pragmatic decision without getting emotional. I’m talking about the hypothetical (but possible) scenario where the Arena was available for what Mowden paid for it or less (look it up), permi...

What if the Arena was for sale again, at a fraction of the cost of building a new one?

Re: Scunny... s*** hits fan
On the very slim chance that an individual appears who wants to buy a majority share in DFC, we are in a far better position to avoid something like this. a) we have a very competent Board who would conduct due diligence, and b) It would have to be approved by the current shareholders. Thinking a b...

Performance clauses are quite common in manager/player contracts in football.
[/quote]
I didn't know that. Thanks for the correction.
It must be a relatively recent thing because in days gone by, I can remember us having to pay two former and one current Manager's salary at the same time!

Re: Alun has been sacked
Assuming the outgoing Management Team are still being paid for the duration of their contracts, I wonder what reorganisation of budgets will have to take place to pay for the new one. It’s hard to see where reductions in costs could be implemented, or where extra revenues could be found. Big assump...

Re: Alun has been sacked
There is a presumption of little or no risk in the fan owned model. Whilst there are a handful of fan owned clubs operating at a higher level than us, they usually have the benefit of their own ground (paid for), a larger support base, or both. The risk for us is a gradual decline in appetite by ou...

Re: Alun has been sacked
I don’t mind some people having a dig at my views and of course fan ownership is where we are right now. What really dismays me is the Never Never Never Ian Paisley like attitude of some of the posters on here. I also agree that we have the club we deserve. We always will have without the desire to...

Re: Club appoints Supporter Liaison Officers
In the 1980's Soviet Communist era, people were encouraged to report incidents of behaviour which did not conform to the Party line. This included reporting family members and friends. It was actually seem as an honourable thing to do by a significant minority of the population. Ultimately, it was a...

This is actually quite disturbing.
How long before they wear uniforms?
Edit:
I'm referring to something Darlo Pete reported, which he has now deleted.

We might have a mid table budget, but we have top of the table support - home and away. It makes a difference.

Desperate measures if our defence creaks next season? Incidently, how many vehicles have played for Quakers? We must have had a Ford in our time, wasn't Mick Tait built from an old Tank and somewhere in the old Soviet Bloc there must have been a sporty little car called a 'Bortic' - a nice runner i...

Re: Abuse at Scarborough
Good grief. So we've finally got to the point where vigilantes walk among us at a football match equipped with cameras. What next? A stadium ban for swearing or shouting in an angry way? I'm glad most of my football watching is behind me now and I've been able to let off some steam without fretting...

Re: Echo casting doubt on plans for new ground
In the event that a new ground isn't achievable at this time, I hope that some clarity is provided on Friday about our arrangements at Blackwell: How long is left on the agreement (licence / lease)? What happens when that expires? Is there a back up plan in place for no new stadium and no Blackwell?...

Re: Echo casting doubt on plans for new ground
Combining residential elements into a sports stadium isn't a new idea, it's been done at Leyton Orient and FC Eskilstuna in Sweden, to name two off the top of my head. I can imagine a situation where a residential developer would get planning permission for something that they otherwise wouldn't hav...
