Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

Anyone got any explanation for why, on BBC teletext, our match with Boston tomorrow is shown as A-A 'This match has been abandoned' rather than as Postponed which is how the other games that are not going ahead have been described? Do the BBC think that this game was arranged to complete the last fe...

Re: Board Statement 15 Feb

It’s an admirable stance and I agree fully with the statement. However, without Step 2 becoming N&V, then surely we cannot play our tie at home to Hornchurch in a couple of weeks? We are now, effectively, shutting down as a club. To then switch the lights back on for a chance at Wembley does not pa...

Re: League restarts 6 February

50/50 is always there Ghost. I think we will be missing out on a lot of income. Match attendances will be higher than streaming figures for a start, then the car park and sponsorship. We have made the most of a bad job so far but we can’t keep on doing this. To me the streaming and grants possibly ...

Re: Kettering Town

I don't recall seeing anything that justifies the comment in the Fylde statement that we plan to play in the Trophy but not in the league on Tuesday. As stated above, surely we are just doing what the league has asked us to do, which is fulfil our fixtures until the results of the votes are known. T...

I think we have to go ahead as there is 28 days for the clubs to respond, so until the League have their results we play on.

Re: League restarts 6 February

Having read the details of what has been put before the National League teams to vote on I understand that there is some fear that the initial resolution can effectively put a stop to separate votes for the National League and a joint North/South vote. The National League can then force all three le...

Re: League restarts 6 February

It's a unique and catastrophic situation made worse by the national league management's handling Of it, from the original funding through to not having a plan B should we end up where we are, They had no for thought in what happens if ??, clueless, You cannot trust what they say, any voting could b...

Re: League restarts 6 February

I see that it is transfer deadline day today. There will be millions being spent in the top echelons of football. According to teletext Man City are offering £15m to buy a couple of 17 year olds, who will probably never feature in their first team for at least a year or two. For the same money three...

I can see this ending up in a complete mess, where the vote is about as decisive as a Brexit referendum, and has much the same consequences. Anyone fancy 4 years of arguing what to do next?

Re: League restarts 6 February

The way the wind appears to be blowing it may be that the majority of teams will opt to continue. Some believing that they will get a promotion to offset the debt, or, even more optimistically, that they will qualify for a loan. So what would happen to clubs that don't have rose-tinted spectacles? T...

Re: League restarts 6 February

Having since been ordered to re-schedule our postponed games in accordance with the National League rules, we must now reiterate our stance. I can't say I like the tone of that statement it almost appears that the National League are trying to push this through as a fait accompli, it's good to see ...

Re: League restarts 6 February

When I heard the announcement that matches would restart on 6th Feb, without any additional information on funding, I assumed that the League had just jumped the gun on a Government announcement that a new deal on grants had been brokered. Having had no such announcement in the last 24 hours seems t...

Re: League restarts 6 February

Would it therefore be OK for a club to sign, say, 20 additional players, and then claim that they can't afford to pay them, so need to have a grant to save the club from going under? With our fixture backlog this looks like it would be a great idea.

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

Perhaps one of the things we can do as individual fans is lobby our MP to support DJ and raise with HMG the question of funding towards the rest of the season without fans, in order to comply with HMG's Covid restrictions? Certainly worth a try as our local MP should have the ear of the government,...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

Whilst the response from Chester clearly indicates a concern over placing their club in future financial difficulties, they do then go on to express a hope that the season might continue under option 2. They may well view the situation this way as they might well hope that they can gain a promotion,...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

What a bloody mess. What worries me is if we lose the vote and the NL wants to carry on will we be faced with the stark choice of carrying on and possibly putting the clubs financial position at risk or stop playing and face punishment from the NL. See my post above. This still worries me. If the m...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

I'm not bright enough to worry about the lengthy nuanced arguments above about what you call the money that will keep this season going, but I am concerned about where that takes us. What is the amount that will be given to each club and how long is it supposed to cover? I think I saw the figure of ...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

It would pretty much spell the end of the league if the board threatened financial sanctions on clubs that feared for their future if they are coerced into taking on loans that threatened their financial future. It's pretty much certain that if the only offer on the table is for clubs to take on de...

Re: Season at risk of finishing early

Could the League insist on them carrying ...

Reading through this thread and watching the news has got me wondering about the idea that we might as well scrap this season with the hope that there may be a chance to have a more normal season next year. Some of the chances of getting back to normal will depend on the roll out of the vaccine. Acc...

Re: Fixture backlog

A successful run in the Trophy would, of course, add to the pressure. Three games a week occasionally? Would also add to the bank balance. Agree. Fixture back log vs good Cup run and a healthy bank balance you can't have it both ways unfortunately. Maybe a bigger bank balance might allow for more p...

I don't think we are alone in having an issue about playing at home in the current season. The two trial events mentioned in the interview. These involve 300 persons for one then 600 for the other. Do I suppose that these will be hastily arranged pre-season friendlies that a few supporters will be allowed to attend to test the arrangements for social distancing?
