Re: Attendance
At some point the restrictions will have to be lifted, for obvious economic and sociological reasons we cannot continue to kick the can down the road indefinitely, a line has to be drawn in the sand somewhere. As the scientists have said there is no getting rid of it, the vaccines are designed to s...

Re: Attendance
I'm clinically vulnerable myself so am keeping a keen eye on the infection and hospitalisation rates. From what I see, at present, I'd be sceptical about the lifting of restrictions. In your own personal circumstances you are right to be concerned but for the rest of us who aren't in the vulnerable...

Re: Attendance
I think that the Delta variant could be the fly in the ointment. I've heard that (as well as cases spiralling in young people and schools) a number of Middlesbrough Police Officers (who have been double jabbed) are now on the sick. I wouldn't be surprised if the roadmap is further delayed. On what ...

Good to see Andy is talking sense. Hope they really struggle back in the FL. Just remember that we could still be in the same league as them in 2022/23, well we can all dream!!! Here you go lads, just for you two ;) https://i2-prod.gazettelive.co.uk/incoming/article20861924.ece/ALTERNATES/s1227b/0_...

It only took Raj about 6 months in 2011 to go from cup winner at Wembley to chucking his toys out of the pram. By that reckoning Poolie will be looking for a new owner by Christmas 😢 Theres a big difference financially Winning the fa trophy compared to promotion to league 2 not to mention the fact ...

Well done hartlepool, only the 2nd ever north east team to get promotion to the football league. Fans deserve it after years of missery

Not sure if they are even pro but that ground seems a bit below par to meet league 2 standards, even if the pitch is ripped up

Re: George Reynolds - Time to let it go
Had reynolds not come in 1999 the club would have gone bust then and i dont recall anyone boycotting games in his early days as chairman. He seemed quite popular with some good ideas to get more fans in, especially those of us who were teenagers at the time who followed premier league teams. Im sur...

Re: 6 players leave
Given all the talk of players going out, I’ll start with a bit of baseless speculation for players we might be interested in: Robbie Briggs (South Shields), Macauley Langstaff (Gateshead), Josh MacDonald (Pools) & Paddy McLaughin (York). Interesting on Briggs. Shields are going full time this seaso...

Re: Potential new local derbies
I don't think the home in time for tea relates to actions pre 1991. It is very much around behaviours which were seen post 2012. Note my last paragraph! As we only spent 1 season in the NL is it really worth worrying about anything that was said outside that season, and apart from Waste and Norton,...

Re: Potential new local derbies
Theres a few myths about the northern league in terms of promotion; -travel: the north east is not that isolated especially with road improvements. As darlogramps said no teams barely went up so thats why there was alot of travelling with trips as far south as derby at one time at step 4. -the fa ai...

Re: George Reynolds
Amos is, was and always will be a pompous bore, more interested in backslapping his mates than wanting the best for the clubs. It’s no surprise he’s crawling right up Reynolds’ backside. He’s always had it in for Darlington fans, calling us “paranoid” during our spell in the Northern League. He mad...

Re: George Reynolds
Slightly off topic but mike amos’s main gripe with compulsory promotion was that the northern league would be decimated and the leagues below. The fact is clubs at the same level in other parts of the country have lost there best clubs alot over the years, clubs do want to step up from wearside leag...

Re: George Reynolds
According to his mate Mike Amos, we Darlo fans may just be a bunch of ungrateful wretches: "He became Darlington FC chairman with the best intentions, invested millions just to keep the club solvent and a great deal more on what became the 25,000-capacity Reynolds Arena, on the edge of town. If it ...

If it is true, and not another Forster-esque con, then I won’t sink to the level of celebrating his death but certainly won’t be mourning him either. He shouldn’t be remembered as “a character”. He was a criminal, a thug and a narcissist. He shouldn’t be compared to Singh or Houghton, all of them w...
