Re: Alun has been sacked

Many of those desperate for a Sugar Daddy (it's not an investor, lets not kid ourselves), do so because they relate this to a time when we were, in their eyes at least, a "big" club. We lived in a big house, bought players people had heard of, who had been on Match of The Day. Had a brief spell kno...

Re: Alun has been sacked

I think it's a real shame it never worked out - he got the club model, he was good at spotting players we could move on for money, and showed at times that he could put together good teams at this level. The first half of last season, with the performances and the atmosphere around the club, was as ...

Re: South Shields

An entertaining game - draw probably a fair result. Will be interesting to see the highlights as 3 of the 4 goals looked slightly debatable decisions at the time It's nice to see we've taken a step forward from the start of the season, and we've looked a decent team the last few games. It's probably...

Re: Shocking and embarassing

Calling for DJ to go is idiotic (if I'm being polite) - fundamentally there are some fans who cant accept the financial reality that, despite the boost the budget, we can't compete financially at the top of this league as things stand. We get decent crowds for this level, but not staggeringly big, a...

Re: Abuse at Scarborough

We haven't been able to identify a second culprit. In the report the assistant referee refers to receiving abuse from multiple Darlington supporters, so maybe there is more than just a second culprit. What surprises me is that, if the culprits were removed from the stadium during the 40 minutes del...

Re: Harrogate Saturday

Obviously it's only pre-season etc etc, but given the standard of opposition and the players we had missing, I was pretty impressed with what I saw. I thought Mustoe and Lees looked solid players. Mustoe looks like he has a very decent cross in him. I'm intrigued by the prospect of 5 at the back wit...

Re: Toby Lees signs

I'm happy with the transfer business so far. Seem to have signed 3 experienced players who can add some physicality to us. I don't know much about Mustoe, but Lees and Platt are very solid NLN players. I think the squad is shaping up pretty nicely - solid keeper + experienced defenders throughout, ...

Re: Who stays and who goes

DJ in a statement a week ago said "I will make it clear here, that we as a board are fully behind Alun as the right man to achieve the success we desire" This might have been made clear by DJ, but AA’s post match interview on Saturday which has been censored since wasn’t clear of his intentions. We...

Re: Darlington v Curzon Ashton Tuesday April 18th2023

Another major decision from a referee which didn’t go our way, although whether we could of scored against 10 is debatable. I didn’t think we played that bad in the first half, but the second half was dreadful. Can’t believe these players were the same ones who were contributing to such excellent f...

Re: AA has to go now surely

inability to make formation changes after going a goal down. I'm not commenting on whether Armstrong should stay or go, but we went from 5 at the back to 4 at the back last night in response to chasing the game more. And I do think the club has moved on quite substantially since Tommy Wright, and A...

Terrible first half. Somewhat better second half, with plenty of effort, but still lacking any real quality. I really can’t see us getting into the playoffs - I can’t see how we are going to mix it up with the squad we’ve got available. Maybe if we can get lambert or liddle back we might get a spark...

I know this view upsets football fans but outside of those who support a team the wider population don't really care about their club. You see it on social media all the time fans seem to want to believe that there is an agenda against their side - I don't know if it validates their view that they ...

Coz he's got it wrong. Potentially not he is potentially chasing play from miles behind so is looking down the barrel and hasn't got the perspective on relative position of players. The only person who had his view point was him ultimately. I've seen far worse and far more obvious missed. I was try...

Re: Darlington v Chorley 07/01/23

I definitely think positioning played a part. The huge difference on the two clips is positioning versus this one and also where the actual offence decision comes from. The first one he is 15 yards from it. On this one given he isn't even in view he must be 35-40 yards from it. Caught out by the at...

Re: Darlington v Chorley 07/01/23

He got the decision wrong he hasn't judged it as DOGSO when he should have. The thing that is so inexplicable is that it was so obviously the case that it was denying a goal scoring opportunity, I can't fathom how he came to the conclusion that he did. Normally, I try and see how ref's come to the ...

Terrrible second half performance, as we completely lost our shape. However, no idea how we weren’t playing against 10 men, which would have changed the game substantially
