Re: Brackley away 14/9/21
Only 125 miles for me - first game of the season. Lot of rain due in the area so hope the pitch can cope. At least don’t have to set off until after 4.30 ish. Don’t expect anything from the game but hope we can build on second half on Sat and get ourselves sorted for more winnable games and start ou...

FA Cup draw
Draw for 2nd qualifying round on Monday when we come in. In better times would be looking forward to it and maybe drwaing a 'weaker' team to get to the next round, but just now a few of these weaker teams would fancy playing us.

As if things weren't bad enough, with every game played any potential new recruit will look at us and think 'nah, dont fancy that'

New signings?
Now that the transfer window is closed can we expect some would-be full timers who didn't get fixed up to be looking for part time employment?

Covid postponments
Don't know if there any general FA guidelines about when a club can postpone a match when players test positive, but the Northern Premier League seem to be taken a very strict approach. This is taken from an article in the Non League paper by the NPL chairman 'This season, for a league match to be p...

The Boro take of the match - or at least the gazette's view. https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/darlington-vs-middlesbrough-under-23s-21197341 Interesting mention of Darlo's physical presence - not something we've heard in a positive way in recent years - although we were up ...

Future of heading?
The FA are proposing limitations to heading the ball during training. https://www.thefa.com/news/2021/jul/28/20210728-new-heading-guidance-published Wonder if this will eventually lead to restrictions in matches- could we get to the stage where heading is banned? Although after Tuesday’s performance...

Re: Attendance
My issue is people who have no respect of how other people may feel nervous. This applies equally to those nervous about reopening and having their feelings belittled as it does to those nervous about if restrictions were extended. As a society there's a real risk of losing the ability to have resp...

Re: Harvey Saunders
Also signed Boro keeper Brad James on loan.
Seem to be throwing everything they have got - and probably a fair bit they haven't got - at promotion.
Be ironic if Armstrong and Saunders provided the goals that got them up.

Re: Terry Melling
Suprised how much response this initial post of sad news has generated - didn't realise there were so many posters of my age on here. I remember Shoot - quite poor coverage really but in those days teams like Darlo didn't get on TV, so it was still quite an event. Programme dominated by 'the big3', ...

I was at that game and Ed John's is correct, this WAS the last game of the season, winner take all with automatic promotion for the winners and nothing for the losers.Got off to a dream start with that early goal but did not push on and Bradford deserved the 3-1 win. Sent from my moto g(6) play usi...

Re: Terry Melling
I have a vague memory of him scoring at the Tin Shed end in a big game against Bradford City. I think it was possibly the final game of the season possibly 1969ish when both sides were in with a chance of promotion. There was a big crowd about 11000 including a large contingent from Bradford. If I ...

Re: Terry Melling
Remember watching him late sixties (69?). I think he played for us towards the end of his career. A real old fashioned bustling centre forward, must have been a nightmare to play against when physical challenges which would be a red card today went without comment. Don't know how he would have manag...

Re: Darlington V Hornchurch Trophy Quarter Final
As soon as I heard Hodgy putting down their team I was concerned it could comeback and bite him. However, I think during his commentary he raised some really good coaching points. I do wonder how much time AA has had to work on the squad and improve their individual game play. To do this there does...
