One thing that is quite ironic is that Shields have signed 4 players to improve them but they have signed them from a team which they obliterated last season.
Though to be fair Hunter and Brown didn't play due to injury.
Both Gillies and Turnbull were both useless that day though.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players
Is Elliott a holding midfielder?
Why is everyone going on about replacing Turnbull with a holding midfielder? Can we not just play 2 "midfielders".
One of your guesses is definitely joining Darlo.

Re: Josh Gillies
Genuine question - where does this "he lacked heart" and "he was pea-hearted" stuff come from? Yes he didn't charge around the pitch like a nutcase. And yes he didn't go barrelling into challenges. But that wasn't and will never be his game. I personally think he did show plenty of "heart" but beca...

Pleased about this. Whilst Gillies had undoubted talent, and on his day was a worldbeater - he only ever seemed to have one day in every 10. More often that not he was a pea hearted, disinterested passenger and to be honest I was slightly surprised that we offered him a new contract and didn't just ...

I might be wrong but didn't the proposed Upshall development even get near the stage where NIMBYs would be out in force protesting against it?
Seemed like it never got past even the first hurdle.

Jesus spen666 just asked a question why all the abuse against him. I can't even be arsed to explain but lets just say that there are many reasons. We just don't randomly abuse strangers on this board - have you been abused for example? Stay out of the Spen thing because you don't know the history.

I bet Darlington whish they had owners like the bennots, who have at least tried and are like Steve Gibson into the fact they are fans. Not a good situation but as Richard bennots said in a interview he could have folded the club and walked away and who could have blamed him. His continued involvem...

Re: Gateshead
If it's half it's likely to be 300k which is still more than ours - so I still don't see how you can afford it on crowds less than ours. 300K for part time players is pretty decent though - there are still several part time clubs at your level so relegation is not a certainty. If Darlo got promoted ...

Means nothing other than they've changed accountants and registered office.
I'd imagine RS will want HUFC to use the same accountants as his other businesses.

So it looks to me that this sporting village is all about underpinning DMPFCs finances with extra income streams from the 4G pitch, housing, retail and other stuff including our tenancy income. Reality check - if we have a part in this it is nothing more than moving from one groundshare to another. ...

Just imagine if the same thing happened at a club three times in a row..... Or that the same fans didn't learn the lesson and saw the fan-owned club nearly bankrupted on at least two occasions. People can indulge the schaudenfreude around Gateshead as much as they want (although I find the undercur...

Don't forget that the Northern League is easily on a par with our league because one off cup shocks prove it.
Many players at Northern League level are world class in fact. Just they prefer to play there than in Europe so they can be home in time for tea and the wages are also better.

I'm sure we'll be welcomed - as long as we can find the £10 million needed to build a stadium ourselves.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players
Looking at his wiki page, this George Green seems to have a really good pedigree.
He was also born in Dewsbury in Yorkshire so if he still lives around there, he's not a million miles away in travelling terms.

If he is more of a wide attacking midfielder - ie a winger, then he would be competition for Gillies and Thompson.

I think it's telling that we're looking at two potential keepers on loan rather than trying to sign Russell - I believe he will have been snapped up by Spendy where he bezzie Chandler is.

Re: Tommy wants 3 new players
Nuneaton are well in the s***, and they terminated Tom Elliot's contract yesterday. I can see most of their players being released whether in contract or not, because they aren't getting paid properly. This means someone is likely to also pick up Ashley Chambers. Could he be considered more of a win...

I'd say the sell on is as important if not more important, than the actual fee. What if the buying club sells him for £5 million down the line? I'd be asking for 25%.

Re: Temp Seats at HP
To me, the considerable barriers to future expansion are the existing stands as much as anything else. The tin shed should’ve been built with more rows as it had in its prior state, and the seated stand should’ve been deeper. It was all rushed. Indeed. The tinshed should have been 12 rows (giving a...

The good thing about Ainge of course is that if we're running a smaller squad he could be used at the back if we have an injury crisis. Styche could play on his own again with Syers/Hughes in the hole.
