Re: TW tactics
What we are lacking is a holding midfielder who sits in front of the back four and gives them some extra protection in the way Turnbull did. Wheatley and Elliott both like to get forward, one of them needs to stay back when the other goes forward.

Re: Tannoy
If we are trying to improve the overall match day experience then the quality of things like tannoy announcements and choice of music, while not vital, do need to be considered and are an area that can be improved easily and cheaply. Perhaps a mixture of music from the sixties right up to the presen...

Re: Darlington FC V Curzon Ashton Match Thread
With so many young, under 23, players in the team the senior players need to step up, become more vocal and try to help/encourage/organise the younger players. With the exception of Ainge this didn't happen yesterday.

Re: Darlington FC V Curzon Ashton Match Thread
IMO today showed 2 things.
1. Just how much we need Thommo in the team.
2. We have no one to galvanise players when heads go down, as they did when Curzon equalised. Until then we had been on top but couldn't get going again afterwards.

A report on the game last night on Look North, that you can download on BBC i player. Although it was very biased towards Sunderland, talked to Sunderland fans before the game, only showed our goal and then Sunderland attacks. Then only talked to their manager and not TW, still what do we expect fr...

Sure it was his appearance clauses that saved us. Fulham never sold him on, they eventually released him so we got nothing.

Re: Temp Seats at HP
While sight lines do need improving I don't think those seats are the solution. A small, open terrace at the away end which can be extended if/when we need to significantly increase capacity and we can raise the money.

Wonder if Tom wants regular first team football rather than being a squad player, something we cannot guarantee. Also the number of muscle injuries he has had this season may well have counted against him especially as we will be working with a smaller squad next season.

If MG continues to spend money the club doesn't have on player contracts maybe McGill will resort to the ultimate threat to the trust ie hand over your stares or administration awaits. That really would put the trust in a difficult position.

Re: Coming soon - Boost the budget
I know the reason BTB is closing end of April is so TW will know what his budget is in plenty of time to plan ahead but is there any reason why it can't be left open for another month or two and then, hopefully, give TW's budget a bonus boost later.

Re: Coming soon - Boost the budget
If, as now seems likely, we don't make the full £80K what should TW do? Does he run with what he has, settle for an uninspiring season in mid table and hope for a good cup run to boost the finances. If so it runs the risk that attendances will drop again, which is the last thing we need. Or does he ...

Let's not forget it was pouring down from 1 o'clock until 2.30. Hardly going to bring out the casual supporter for a match with very little riding on it no matter how many offers are on.

Re: Discounted Entry v Boston. Sat 7th April
Problem is that any pitch inspection will need to done about 9 am at which is before the rain starts and the pitch will probably be playable at that point. Could we not delay 24 hrs and play Sunday when the weather is OK rather than risk a late postponement and having to pay Bostons expenses.

Re: Joe Wheatley
It's understandable that Wheatley wants to get back into full time football but if we do sell him it should, ideally, be to a club in a higher league but NOT to York. We need to make it clear to Gray that he can't keep unsettling our players with the lure of full time and then expect to get them on ...

To be anywhere near the boardroom these people must have paid for hospitality in which case their names will be known and they can be dealt with. Our defence was clearly not good enough last season, everyone could see that. It needed a complete overhaul in the summer. Agree TW needs time and our support. He inherited a squad bereft of confidence but full of over paid, under performing players. However he's been here nearly 3 months now and performances have, if anything, got worse rather than better. On Saturday too many players looked as if they had no idea what...

Without mentioning exact figures on here DJ also said that the transfer fees & salary loss from the 4 players we sold has not only allowed us to bring in replacements but has significantly reduced both the existing debt and the playing budget.
