Re: The state of the roads
You could always buy a zero road tax car like a fiat 500 twin air and not pay anything towards road tax :)[/quote] It is a fact that the amount of revenue central government receives from road tax and fuel duty has reduced considerably due to people using more economical cars that are tax exempt, an...

Re: The 'What have you been watching' Thread
The second series of The Hour was brilliant, particularly having Peter Capaldi (from The Thick of It) in it.
I must agree with Jazz that the French series Spiral is really good - Audrey Fleurot is one of the sexiest women to appear on TV for a long time.

I was amazed to see David Jacobs (of Juke Box Jury fame) being interviewed on TV recently. I thought he was long gone.

Try Richard Jemison:

I used to work with him and he is an excellent photographer. He's even had some books published. I agree with other comments that a good photographer can help to make a wedding run smoothly.

Re: What Book are you reading
Kenneth William's Diaries is also a fascinating read. If you're into history books I highly recommend John O'Farrell's 'An utterly impartial history of Britain (or 2000 years of upper-class idiots in charge)', and it's follow up. Both are very funny. I'm also glad to see another Steve Marriott fan o...

Re: What Book are you reading
It's heavy going but I'm currently reading Black Shirt, Stephen Dorril's biography of Sir Oswald Mosley - just to find out how close Britain came to having a facist government.
Before this I re-read All Too Much by Paolo Hewitt and John Hellier, about England's best male singer Steve Marriott.

Re: OLYMPICS - Is there anyone else on this board very excit
I've watched all of the GB womens games. They've done really well. I'm going to St James this Friday to watch a quarter final game. Me too. It's USA v New Zealand by the way. USA won reasonably easily. It was strange being at a game with no chanting or swearing. And the refereeing was abysmal. Quit...

I've watched all of the GB womens games. They've done really well. I'm going to St James this Friday to watch a quarter final game. I also like the chance to see sports rarely seen on TV, such as the judo and weighlifting. For all of those who say they aren't watching/enjoying the olympics, well jus...

Adam Ant. Kings of the wild frontier. Yes, I admit it...
Last weekend I went to the Silverstone Classic race meeting and he was headline act on Saturday night. I didn't know what to expect, but he was fantastic!

Re: Northallerton this Monday
Pete,
there is quite a lot of space to park just inside the main entrance - get there early and you should have no problem. Otherwise there are some spaces at the children's play area next to the ground. It's not that far to walk from the large car park (The Applegarth) behind the High Street.

Sad news - but what a legacy. The Shelby Cobra is king among 'classic' sports cars. Glad to read that some other board members are into such cars. I'm going to the Silverstone Classic race meeting in July - can't wait.

It's 16 miles from Northallerton to the Arena / Feethams. I agree that moving further away from Darlington is going to put some people off travelling. Personally Shildon or Aycliffe is probably OK for me, but Bishop Auckland seems a long way every other week.

I hope it is Ainderby Road. We're a friendly bunch in Northallerton (although the ground is actually in Romanby), and for the first time ever I'll be able to walk to a game!

According to wiki he played 10 times & scored 1 goal for us in the 83-84 season. All I remember is that he was crap - or perhaps we expected too much from him at this late stage of his career.
