Re: Darlington v Buxton

I hope the young goalie stays a bit longer, he looks capable and it’s two wins out of three appearances for him.

Re: Asante

One of my spies tells me Asante expects to be in the squad the week after next. So that's maybe for the Scunthorpe game?

Or, maybe not?

Re: Darlington v Buxton

I think we really need to be trying to tie Watson and Mitchell down to be here next season, regardless of which league we are playing in. I think they should be able to build a team that is either capable of holding their own in NLN or being promotion contenders in the league below. I look at this ...

Re: Darlington v Buxton

That was a true “victory for football” 😀

Buxton shot themselves in the foot by pissing about when they could have chosen to play a bit.

There was a funny kit clash today, a little too similar for me.

Also, that vile Hartlepool-ish away kit needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history. Just as much to blame for our relegation as Gowling ;)
Our away form is better than our home form. It’s the lack of MrQ that is costing us.

I’d like to nominate W8Poolie. ;)

Re: Darlington v Buxton

In David Hodgson's book Three Times a Quaker, I'm sure there's a story, possibly 2 stories of players signing up to deals knowing they weren't right.

I don't know if this is the case here but it does happen, according to D.H.

Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24

It's getting very perilous now. I know I sound negative but I'm already half resigned to us going down. I know what you mean. When Armstrong left I felt relatively realistic about things getting turned around, and at that point we seemed to have time on our side but now we're just about out of time....

However, we should be drifting along, upper mid table in this division surely.

Supporting Darlo is like playing Snakes and Ladders - but with all the ladders removed.

50 years, what you point out re Nelson. Yes he is always busy, gets into scoring positions, looks good on the ball, works hard but sadly, on saying all of that - it very rarely leads to anything.

We might as well have great big lump up front who occasionally nods one in from a corner.

Curry needs to be in the starting 11.

Main works hard and is an asset, but we need someone who can finish alongside him and that ain’t Nelson.

Marriott has hardly played this season due to injury … sound familiar ?? I bet he'll be fit enough tonight though. Unlike our missing superstar. Our superstar will pop up with the goal that saves us from relegation .. I have seen it If I see it, I hope my ancient old heart will take the excitement.

On another point, their goalkeeper was pretty awful on all the goals, I can only imagine the grief TT would have received from some of our goalkeeping experts for letting them in.
I've just watched the highlights and yes, their goalkeeper - maybe he should stick to the day job.

Let's not throw the baby out of the bath water because we are on the verge of being relegated to the NPL. If we don’t have any decent new forward thinking players this week then we may as well concede to relegation. Still cannot fathom how with their connections over years of playing and coaching they have not dealt with the problem. Know it’s harder when you are a struggling team, get that, but JG wou...

One thing I think we can all agree on is Watson MUST stay.

It's been a perfect storm of problems made worse by J.G. - it would seem he is the Liz Truss of Darlington football Club.
