Re: Tamworth V Darlington
I get the want to go 'back to basics' from a lot of fans, but I fail to see how 4-4-2 is some sort of panacea which instantly solves the fact we concede goals for fun and aren't scoring. Looking at the goals we've conceded against Bishop Stortford, Scarborough, Gloucester and Tamworth, I don't see w...

Re: Jack Hannah
Looks a good signing on paper. Hopefully he can bring some quality on the ball which you need if you're playing 3 at the back and is up to the physicality of the NLN. Does make us look a little over covered in the wide defensive areas of the pitch with Sukar able to cover LCB and LB. Especially if w...

Re: Goal keeper
Interesting signing. He is from Northallerton, and is 6ft 3ins, so hopefully he can command his area. Wonder if Josh has already identified the lack of a dominant keeper as a big factor in our poor defensive record this season. I suspect this is the crux of it. As I've said a gazillion times before...

Being reported that wages have not been paid today. Looking very bleak for them unfortunately.

Re: Goal keeper
Interesting one, I think I would have been looking for a LWB (if JG if going to stick with 3 CBs) and a target man CF as a priority, but interested to see what this lad can come in and offer us. We've historically been fairly lucky with the quality of on loan keepers, so lets hope that continues.

Re: Scarborough Fa Cup
Anyway, not much room for manoeuvre given it’s a cup tie so likely no new players. Taylor Griffiths, Lees, Lawlor, Hedley Rivers, Platt, Hatfield, Salkeld Hazel, Nelson In a 424 to try something different and accommodate 2 strikers. I'd be concerned about our Midfield being overrun in the above set...

Re: Scarborough Fa Cup
Just to finish off the negativity. Surely we should not have to find out via social media if a key player has been transfer listed? Also, have not seen any communication about Mustoe who just seems to have disappeared? Also don’t think our club liaison person or whatever called should be posting an...

Re: Darlington V Gloucester
Assuming we're in 1 in 1 out territory, I'd be looking to do some wheeling anfndealing around the following: Griffiths out - RWB in I suspect you weren't at the game yesterday. Griffiths was one of our best performers. He put some good tackles in, carried the ball well, found space and did positive...

Re: Darlington V Gloucester
In reality, Rome wasn't built in a day and JG and DR having 1 training session with the lads wasn't going to change too much. It sounds like it was a bit of a nothing game, similar to Bishop Stortford away. Goal we conceded was carbon copy of so many this season. Lose the ball in midfield and someon...

Re: Next Manager - Vote!
Got to say I'd still be surprised if Ian Watson was interested. It's surely approaching time when he and Mike Williamson will be offer FL jobs based on what they've achieved at Gatehead. At that point he can either be a FL No.2 or potentially stay and take up the Gateshead managers job. Both seem ra...

Re: Alun has been sacked
Where are our investors then? I know of at least one seriously wealthy person who was putting money in, mainly in sponsorship, and offered to put far larger amounts in (talking BIG money) but an argument with a club official over something that happened at a match put paid to that. Now his interest...

Re: Bishops Stortford road closures
Zero in that game. They should have had a pen when they scored. But other than that they didn't threaten. We pinned them back all second half but not the quality infront of goal.to.pick the lock. If that game had finished 0-0 or 1-1 it would have been a fair result.

Re: Alun has been sacked
I honestly can't see Fenton or Ian Watson being options. Both under contract and in Watson's case he's working full time in mens football a league above where we are. Added to that I think Gateshead have an outside chance of a playoff place in the NL. I wouldn't be rushing to move away from that to ...

Re: Alun has been sacked
The right decision. Since the end of last season something has felt a bit off and unfortunately that has carried into this season. More than anything it feels sad it didn't work out for AA. I think over his tenure there's far more good than bad. - 2 FA cup first round appearances - Multiple players ...

Re: Boston
Can't bring myself to watch the PMI. We could have quite easily lost that 2-0 when their lad hit the bar when it seemed easier to score and not sure who was offside for their ruled out goal or when. Agree with others above. No lack of effort on that pitch last night, just a complete lack of cohesion...

Re: Buxton v Darlo
Every other team we play seems to be well organised and difficult to beat. They also seem to be able to exploit our weaknesses. On a good day last season where we clicked, we looked like promotion contenders. Sadly there weren’t enough of those situations. Second observation is that players who loo...

Re: Buxton v Darlo
So disappointed, but have to say that's the end of the line for Armstrong and Holloway. I was willing to give them time, even after the end of last season, on the basis replacing players of the quality of the ones we lost being very difficult. But nothing has changed from the end of last season. No ...

Re: Buxton v Darlo
Sukar serving the final game of his suspension obviously keeps us to a back 4. So the interesting decisions are around shape further up the pitch and its probably a decision between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 and what you do in the wide left position. Armstrong seems to be favouring playing both Nelson and H...

Actually, it appears Kings Lynn may not be as full-time as what we think: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/20654039.stephen-cleeve-true-cost-going-full-time/ So that is Scunthorpe & South Shields who are full-time. Boston, Chester & Kings Lynn appear to operate a hybrid training model. Let’s stop this...

It'll be a tough game, Brackley are always a good side and don't expect today will be any different. I'm interested to see what AA goes with. I didn't mind seeing us move to 3-5-2 on Tuesday night. It's a tough formation to get set up in with only a couple of training sessions a week and I don't thi...

Re: Hereford away
With Rivers out and Moke doubtful. Definitely puts some pressure on our midfield with limited options. Personally I'd like to see us try 3-5-2. Think the question whichever formation we go for will be who do you put alongside Platt in CM. For me below I've gone for Liddle, but I also wouldn't mind t...

Re: Armstrong not up to the task
I thought I would leave it a few days - so my post did not look like a knee-jerk reaction to the result on Saturday. However, once again we have been beaten tactically by a team we should have secured all three points against. it was the back end of last season all over again. So what's changed? A ...

Go into the first match of the season with a formation you've not played in pre-season. Go into the first match of the season with a starting XI that you haven't tried in pre-season. Go into the first match of the season having not played for 2 weeks. Great planning and was bound to go well wasn't ...

Re: Curzon crowd
Disappointing way to start. Wasn't at the game so can't comment on individual performances, but didn't really agree with the team selection, largely as it left Hazel isolated in the middle and Rivers offers us little from out wide. I don't mind him in a 10 role but from out wide he's not quick or st...
