Does anyone know out of curiosity how many of the current 24 clubs in the National League are actually part time?[/quote]

I believe that the answer is 2 - AFC Halifax Town and Maidenhead United

Re: National League System - Re-Structure from 18/19

So, they’re adding a third southern division? How’s that going to help the north south feeds into the national leagues??? No, they're adding a midlands (central) league at step 3. The wording is mis-leading as its the Southern Premier League who'll be running the league but it'll cover those clubs ...

Re: Harry Dunn

My favourite manager was Cyril Knowles. Recruited amazingly well all the Boro/Newcastle/Sunderland cast-offs on a shoestring and built them in to a fabulous team. Ironically those cast-offs then went and beat Boro in the FA Cup. Should never have been sacked as we just couldn't afford to keep the c...

This will be a tough game today, full time club and signed some pretty good players, a millionaire director appointed a couple of months ago, 18 players brought in since last season. Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk Maidenhead have still got the same team as last year, all part time. Only a coupl...

Re: Which grounds have you seen Darlo playing at?

The Plymouth game in 84 - away end was open and it rained all afternoon. Looked like we were going to get a replay until a very late winner. in the 70s/80s there were a couple of games where there was no away enclosure- Portsmouth in 1979 and Newport County (Somerton Park) a few years later - think ...

Re: Gainsborough Trinity V Darlington FC Match Thread

Has to be said that Trinity were miles better than either Worcester or Stalybridge. So to fight back from two goals down was a good battling performance - heads did not drop and it was no surprise to get the equaliser. We were certainly worth the point, and with a full squad to select from after tod...

Re: Boston United V Darlington FC Match thread

Both sides were off the pace in the first half, but Darlo took their chances. In the second half Boston changed formation and had most of the possession but the Darlo back 4 and keeper were all in great form. Pitch was very heavy and sanded so both sides preferred to hoof it. Big penalty shout late ...

Goals scored by defenders

6 out of 12 goals scored so far this season (6 from 11 ignoring the OG v Boston), I can't remember a time when our defenders were so prolific. Kev B 2 and Tez 4. Not to mention Gary Brown's throws. It's been a trend for the last couple of seasons. All the more impressive when you consider how good t...

Lots of grounds in the Conference North which we have already visited: - Alfreton, Tamworth, Telford (cup) in the second Conference spell - Boston (first away game), Chorley (when the segregation broke down) in the first Conference season - Harrogate and Bradford PA pre season friendlies, also Brack...

Re: Worst weather you've ever seen Darlo play in?

Plymouth away in the FA Cup 1984, behind a big fence and it chucked in down all match then just as we thought it would be a reply they scored a late winner right in front of us. Also Colchester away in the 1989 relegation season when we won in the fog.

The Reading equaliser was punched in Maradona style by Andre Bikey. Then in the shootout Stockdale saved the first penalty but the ref gave Reading a retake, saying he had moved too early. The shootout didn't finish until after 11pm

There are no hard and fast rules to Darlo player fan nicknames, but I reckon you should only get one if either; a) you're out-and-out club legend like Lidds, Gabba or Hodgie b) you're a fan favourite and you're bringing a quality nickname to the table like The Hitman or Stan Gaughan or c) you've go...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Collett take up a role there as he was a popular player for the Gasheads - also played a blinder there for us in a 1-0 defeat in 2001 or so
