Re: South Shields v Darlo
So in the same week that Spenny sign Brad James, Matty Dolan, Lufudu and another attacking midfielder we sign an emergency 17 yr old keeper on loan for a month. ( nothing against the lad at all, sure he is an excellent prospect) Says it all really doesn’t it. Yes, I know they have money and we don’...

Re: South Shields v Darlo
I used to think that the criticism of the club's communications was a little unfair but it now seems to be sinking faster than on field success. I know it will be difficult to keep some positivity in the output when everyone can see that we are speeding in the wrong direction, but trying to spin go...

Re: Any new faces
If we don’t have any decent new forward thinking players this week then we may as well concede to relegation. Still cannot fathom how with their connections over years of playing and coaching they have not dealt with the problem. Know it’s harder when you are a struggling team, get that, but JG woul...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
DJ has led us to a path of success, over the last few years while keeping the finances in check, so not going into administration again, and 6 leagues down. There have been innovations like the way you can pay by tapping on a terminal to pay which were led by the board members, (very rare at other ...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Bottom line is, as we know, that actually none of our forwards are stand out at this level no matter what pairing we try. However, Kane and Haaland together wouldn’t score for us either because the creativity, through balls, crosses, quick one two,s on edge of area just don’t happen from our current...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
If it wasn't for Hatfield telling him what he should do the ref would have carried on with the game with a player on two yellows. Never seen anything like it. Surely that's just basic stuff for the officials, keeping record of who has been booked. One for our referee on the forum. If the referee ha...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Bottom line is that the players are not strong enough, fit enough and just blatantly not good enough to keep us in this league. When did we last beat a strong, well organised, physical team………answer is, so long ago I cannot remember. Yes the ref was awful, yes they rolled around injured but even aft...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
Broken record I know! , but how come we still have not signed a couple of creative players. They have been here long enough now surely to have made this happen. You telling me that the 3 N East big clubs don’t have any decent players who would benefit from a loan. Thought once transfer window closed...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
What a boring awful interview that was with TM. Learnt nothing except stuff that we already know. Same questions, same answers. Why oh why cannot we ask and learn about players, who,s likely to be in squad, Will Barrow be fit, what’s wrong with Asante etc etc. Things of interest. Oh, and while we ar...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
As above, I would do same.
Platt and Hatfield together in midfield doesn’t work in terms of creativity and Barrow looked like wing back would suit him.
Mind you if we yet again don’t make any creativity additions what the hell are they doing!! But, maybe we will.

Re: Any new faces
Just read a really refreshing interview with the a york City manager where he basically covers some of his fringe players, offers they may have had, reasons for keeping them, strengths, tactics etc and what they bring to the team. https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/sport/yorkcityfc/24107280.efl-clubs-enqui...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
‘Without getting to much in to it, that mentality of being minnows, or the unlucky club, or the no money club, needs to stop right across the FC. We are Darlington Football Club, backed by a fantastic fan-base that provides the club with adequate resources (in terms of voluntary hours & financial s...

Re: Asante
While we're at it, does anyone: a) know when Scott Barrow is due back? b) want to start speculating about how much he's costing us to be out injured? c) have any issues with the due diligence on signing him* off the back of no football in 18 months? *yes I know he's only on loan, but still.... Sure...

Re: Asante
Maybe ask the new physio to do an update similar to what O’Connor used to do at regular intervals on the squads fitness, of which Asante would take a leading part. Found them really quite informative, helps transparency for sure and also gives an opportunity to get to know a little about the new phy...

Re: Asante
Oh well, just another goal today for Jacob Hazel, that’s 5 goals & 3 assists for him in 13 appearances at Boston. Meanwhile Akwasi Asante sits out another week on big wages. He is our 007 at the moment. 0 Goals 0 Assists 7 Appearances Criminal. Every week I become more and more bitter about this. I...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
Let’s be honest if we cannot score against the crap sides we were never going to score against Brackley. 2 away games in a week, no threat and barely made either keeper get a sweat on kind of sums us up. A midfield of Platt and Hatfield will create nothing. Not knocking either of them as both give 1...

Re: Asante
It is a good summary but it doesn’t suit 97s narrative that the club is being mismanaged. Don’t know if he has some personal grudge with some people at the club, or is just a serial moaner, but either way he is beginning to sound like a broken record. Old Git, are you not seeing what’s in front of ...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
Another difficult game. Play like we did on Tuesday and we probably have no chance. Play like we did against Hereford then who knows. I would give Siddik a start here and I think Curry probably deserves one too. Agree, would start those two as well but definately Curry. Just hope Barrow may be fit ...

Re: Banbury V Darlington
Did it very quickly so may not be absolutely 100% but reckon we have taken something like 10 out of 30 points against the other bottom 8 or so teams this season, a number being at home too. To me that is why we are still languishing where we are. To think that we have not competed against these crap...

Re: Banbury V Darlington
Same issue, zero creativity. Hatfield & Platt both tough, hard working midfielders but neither of them can create literally anything. Liddle back to non existent self. Cannot win games with those 3 together. Add Salkeld to that, hauled off at HT Sent from my SM-A145R using Tapatalk Perfect example ...

Re: Banbury V Darlington
We now need to get top 6 standard results to have any chance and to do that you have to score goals. I'd say top half but guess that is difference between thinking 50 points should be enough and thinking we need 54 to stay up. Both look equally unlikely unfortunately. To be fair, we had lots of the...

Same old, no threat in final third and there lies the story of our season. We now need to get top 6 standard results to have any chance and to do that you have to score goals.
End of story, likely end of season I’m afraid.

Re: Asante
To be honest, the board as a collective must be embarrassed by letting Gowling sign him. This is an injury prone player who hasn’t played in ages and not getting anywhere near the squad of a team at level above despite his previous goal scoring record. For gods sake, if our board cannot make a a few...

Don’t think we should accept the squad as it is now despite the impressive performance on Saturday. Some players had their best games for months but can they do it now consistently? If we have any budget left either for loans or permanent, the likes of Burton, Donowa, Jameson etc who have all been m...

Re: Asante
Reckon we could have done better “due diligence” than the board did when agreeing this signing. Absolutely shocking and one of the worst mistakes made in recent times. Surely we are trying to get him off the books but realistically we are stuck with him as other clubs will do a better job than we did.

Re: Darlington v Hereford
How nice to come away from a game having actually enjoyed it, well at least for 4 mins after we went 2-0!! Thought all of defence were immense and would have given MoM to Lees, Lawlor or Hedley. Griffiths stuck to his task against a very quick winger. Hatfield basically collapsed at final whistle he...
