Re: Blackwell Meadows
To be honest, you won't be able to see much from the A.66, as there is a fairly substantial hedge between the ground and the A.66. In the summer you'd not know that there was a ground at the other side of the hedge. Plus I think the ground will be too far away to be able to see a sponsors name on a...

Question for those with good knowledge about BM and the development of the stands. Which stand if any will be visible most from the A66? Be it the front or back of stand. It’s in relation to sponsorship, in essence where would the best place be to put a company’s name to attract attention from the r...

Re: Turnbull
Was very surprised he started, hamstrings take at best a couple of weeks to get over guess its a little desperate on our part with the midfield stretched as it is.
Shame we'll miss him for the rest of the week.

I really have known nothing like it. Shame I didn't hear anything about it before my train from London set off.
Ahh well fingers crossed it goes ahead tomorrow, not sure of the forecast but must be a little doubt about spenny even for tomorrow, hopefully an agreeable Plan E is in place.

Re: Grounds where you've seen Darlington 'play at home'.
They came back with: I wasn't including friendlies, competitive games at Feethams, Arena, HP, Riverside, Spennymoor and Chesterfield in the Johnstone Paint. Don't remember that. I remember going to Chesterfield on a snowy Tuesday night for what I think was a JPT game. Pedro Paulo coming on and taki...

Re: Darlington v Skelmersdale Match Thread
That was really a very good performance. We started fast and never let up, high pressure on the ball when out of possession and we just kept winning it back and attacking again. It should have been 5 (pen and Army misses) but could have been 8 which still wouldn’t have required us to take all our ch...

Looking out the window in Newcastle I can't see the game going ahead tonight. Will Scott and Turnbull be better for a Thursday game anyway, wonder if that's in anyone's thoughts.

Re: Darlington v Nantwich Match Thread
What a game that was. We have played better this season but Nantwich to me looked a very good team, I can’t believe we turned them over 0-5. Despite being a team of giants they looked to get the ball down and play all the way from the keeper through to the forwards, I’m sure they’ll feel that they d...

loved the line
“You can change your wife, your politics and your religion but never your football team,” the United fan says. It is followed by a killer line from the bloke in the non-sponsored FC shirt. “They left me,” he says.

Re: Darlo v Rushall Match Thread
Saturday feels a long time ago with tomorrows game so close, but first time I got to a computer to pop my thoughts down. Though over the 90+ minutes we were deserving of the win, Rushall made it a very tough game for us. First half the formation (I would have said it was 4-3-3, rather than Cartman i...

Re: Contenders for player of the season.
Still plenty of time to go but its hard to argue really with many of the names put forward, however I think I would probably go Cartman. Turnbull is probably the best player at the club, but over the course of the season I think Nathan wins us more points, be it goals, immediate assists or his work ...

Re: Playoff Dates
I hate to ask but as the season ends around Bank holiday dates the missus is making plans. Anyone know the dates of the games? Either Mon 25th, Tue 26th or Wed 27th depending on who you play away as it falls on that teams home game. Obviously if we finish 2nd or 3rd it would be home and a Tuesday n...

Re: Players Day Jobs?
Bearing in mind the 'difficulty' getting to long distance mid-week matches, what are the day jobs of the current squad and where do they have to travel to, to get to work? I was wondering this the other week. Other than Brown - Plumber Armstrong & Turnbull - PE teachers I have no idea which surpris...

Re: Darlington v Ilkeston Match Thread
I think their oldest player was 21. Given their lack of experience I think they did OK in the second half and kept their heads up. Didn't these youngsters give the owld gits of Salford a bit of a football lesson recently? 21 really? I thought there first 11 looked to be a more normal split of ages....

I thought 1000+ was a decent turn out for a Tuesday night. Though I thought it looked a lot fewer than that in attendance.

Re: Darlington v Ilkeston Match Thread
Was such a strange game. Even before the goal you could tell it was going to be a stroll and we found ourselves 3-0 and really could have been more. Gas and Thommo particularly looked to be enjoying it. Half time came and the game was going to go one way or the other, we’d keep on playing the way we...

Euro SuperLeagueCup, for the selected few.
Seems it’s a quiet Friday ion the office, so thought I’d throw this out there for discussion. The idea of a closed top tier European competition, what do people think? Its something that I have thought would happen its just a matter of time, I still think like that but maybe 10 years ago I thought i...

I have often thought about postponing these recent games from a Saturday to a Sunday, if it suits all why not do it.
Its really bad when as soon as I see rain at any point in the week my first thought is game off.

I echo these thoughts, followed darlo as a kid from the conference season then left the area at 18 for Uni then work. Always followed the club where possible mostly at away games but always taking in home matches when back visiting family. However it really got to the point at the arena why I bother...

Re: Darlo v Salford - match thread
Was far from a footballing spectacle last night and although it was hard to tell from in the tinshed the wind seemed to be really effecting the game and got worse as the game went on. Second half Jameson couldn't clear the half way line with his kicks whilst their keeper was landing the ball on our ...

Re: Darlo v Salford
Curiously does anyone know how the fans are set to be segregated? I suspect it will be use of a fence as has always been used. Unless you think we should make them wear oversized stickers of the Salford emblem? I'm sure you knew I meant who will be situated where in the ground. However is it not no...
