Re: Chris Turner
I actually heard a bit of info on the Liddlegate scandal last night, however I was half cut at the time & cant remember the names of the people involved. Anyway, apparently there is a club official at each game whos job it is to check for bookings etc and pass the info on to a woman back at the club...

Re: tommy wright to sign
I know Tommy quite well and last spoke to him on Thursday. Admittedly this was before Grimsby were relegated but, although he loved his time here and regrets leaving when he did, he certainly hasn't said anything about coming back. Not saying the rumour is necessarily b*llocks, but if he'd signed a...

Re: Matt Clarke
Yes he originally came to us as a striker, as that was his position at his former club Halifax. Anybody remember the two late goals he scored at Feethams, when we were a goal down. The second goal was an incredible volley deep into injury time in front of the tinshed. Wrong. He was originally a str...

This is weird!! I went for a pie during the 1st half & was told there wouldnt be any available till half time. I can only guess Windass accounted for the fact that none were available before then!

Re: Chris Turner
I would have thought that they would only deduct points gained by playing that player. A defeat would have given them no points advantage. It would have been interesting if they survived on a goal difference of 1 or 2 though, guess there would have been ructions!!

It sounds like Flinders was in the firing line for plastic bottles & the like. The lad he dumped off the pitch shouldnt have been there in the first place. If anything Flinders should be applauded for getting the daft twat off the pitch!!

Well I will trust the judgement of Davey, Kidd, Liddle & Maddison over their futures. Im sure if there is potential there that they can develop then they will be kept on.

Re: Very impressed with M Smith and Mcready today
Are you for real??? You clearly weren't at the game today. They were both piss poor - as was everyone else today. The team Davey put out lacked quality and I'd hope the vast majority of those players will not be kept on next season. If they are - we are screwed He clearly was, otherwise he wouldnt ...

If its a choice between White & that plank from Bradford, it would be White every time for me. Yes there are better players out there, but also 92 other clubs that would be a preferable destination for alot of them.

Agreed, good luck to Purcell, he did well for us. Good luck to Penney as well, things conspired against him when he was here. Fair enough the football wasnt the best but he got good resuts for us. He will be a sucess again elsewhere.

Thats why I hate Spurs!! Their fans know nowt and are so up their own arses they get managers sacked who dont play pretty football, even if they win a trophy playing in a different style. No offence to DC here, who is an ok bloke when hes watching Darlo

Re: Fantastic win for the Spurs tonight !!
Tonight was a win for (some), English talent over the power of money - hopefully it proved that you cannot always buy success. 6 English players in the starting line up and 3 on the bench So just half the squad was English. All the others were bought with big money. So it proves you cant just win w...

Re: Thurday could be an interesting day
In 2000/2001 Chesterfield played Luke Beckett all season when, by league rules he was an ineligible player, he scored 20+ goals and they got promoted. The promotion was at our expense as they were deducted 9 points which ’by chance’ put them level with us in fourth with one game left but they had a...

Re: Where is Staunton ?
McEwan & Booth both left us bottom of the league - how much worse can you get? Booth only had a decent season in 87/88 because of the genius of David Currie and the squad wasn't completely overrun with his crap signings. Absolutely correct. We were around the top 7 until we sold Currie than fell aw...

Thing is with stoddy is that he always blames GR mostly. I think that's just sour grapes from when he was banned by GR to report about our games or allowed into the ground for that fact. And Reynolds isnt to blame for the reason why we are in a mess? It wasn't too bad, but for the local paper, I th...

Re: Arni in team of the week
The problem with the defence isnt always the defenders. If you have a weak midfield & a crap keeper then you could have Ferdinand & Vidic in there & they wouldnt look as good as they can be. Im not saying that a Werling/White/Miller/Arnison defence would be great but it also wouldnt be the end of th...

Re: Please NO Sam " I can't command my area for Toffee" Russell
Maybe we would like to sign someone "better" than Russell but lets not forget there are over 90 other clubs that may seem a more attractive proposition for any "better" keeper. Considering we are non league fodder now, attracting a keeper of the calibre of Russell is a very good piece of work by Dav...

Looked around 300 to me, but I don't know the official figure. Have to admit I was a bit disappointed with today's turnout as I thought they'd be more making the shortish trip. Although I suppose if fans can't even make the trip from nearby Manchester, then 300 is pretty good. Our pathetic home for...

Penney did not leave Darlo or get sacked after our budget was slashed. He just simply released high earners like Joachim, Cummins etc, sold Tommy Wright for 100k, then brought in bargain basement players like Poole, Griffin, Fortune and Proudlock to replace them, and nearly got us promoted. Don't l...
