Re: Tonight's game

Good performance last night and controlled for large spells. The score line probably flattered Bishop as we had numerous good chances in both halves. I do agree we look vulnerable to the counter, and we seem to push our full-backs up quite high when on the ball or pressing. Either way Bartlett was s...

Darlington v Newcastle

Good workout tonight, probably unlucky not to score three or four. Caton looked handy and was probably one of the standouts along with Turnbull and Cartman. Fenwick also looked sharp up front, it'll be interesting to see if we follow up our interest. Ivan Toney was the difference tonight for Newcast...

Re: Shildon V Darlington FC

The CM alongside Scott in the 1st half showed some decent touches. Bit small for the conference north perhaps, but some potential. Saunders looked decent. Heaton had some good moments and some bad moments, but worth looking at again. The rest were well off the pace, as is completely expected. We're...

Re: Local clubs released list

I don't really know what your point is with the last comment. 1. Rumour of getting a new CB 2. Challenged on basis we already have a new CB and have recently resigned two players on new contracts - maybe it would be better for that money to be spent on the stand 3. You challenged on basis that MG h...

Re: Local clubs released list

I'd be surprised if Brodie proves himself. He has been unable to shift the weight for 2 or 3 years now - I wasn't overly impressed with him last season. He was with Southport at the back end of last season and I thought he lived basically by Haig Avenue I just expect him to end up there. As I menti...

Brodie has proven quality and is a goal scorer.

Providing he is on trial with us I'd be more than happy to see us give him a chance.

Re: Local clubs released list

The Echo did confirm we were looking at a striker with National League experience, so can't see how it'll be another CB. The striker with National League experience is the trialist. MG confirmed that we were working with potential players on the training ground and also talking to players who were ...

Re: Martin Gray

IF Gray brings in a couple of more players then what needs to be remembered is that he is only spending the money that the Board have allocated to him as the playing budget, although I do not think that the budget has increased much from last season. I think that although the £80k budget shortfall w...

Re: Local clubs released list

As I mentioned it was just rumours that had surfaced. MG always looks to improve the squad and he has openly admitted that last season was not good enough. I remember last season the signings of Bartlett and Ferguson were criticised. In particular Bartlett as we had Wilczynski at the time yet Bartle...

There were strong rumours earlier this week that we were looking at another CB so it wouldn't come as a surprise.

Re: Local clubs released list

I don't think it will be Fenwick although I do think he is a player that we should be looking at. Either way roll on Shildon and I'm sure we may know a little bit more then. Simon Grand was mentioned on here a few weeks ago, I wonder if we're in for him? Chorley based and proven experience in the Na...

Re: Releases

Ed signed an 18 month contract with us so have we paid him up? Was this publicly announced, Radar? Wilczynski did tweet towards the end of the season about a new challenge. With Bartlett evidently being first-choice it wouldn't surprise me if a mutual agreement was made towards the end of the seaso...

Re: Releases

Great news about both Bartlett and Ferguson being contracted for next season. Retaining all of the squad barring Falkingham/Wilczynski is very impressive. Whilst 1/2 more additions would be ideal I don't particularly think it's imperative at this stage. It's interesting to see rumours of Jon Paul Pi...

Re: New Signing

Unless I am mistaken Ferguson played centre midfield in his very first game for us? I also thought he ended up there for Blackpool as well. I could be wrong but I think he played left-back in the first two games he started in 2012 (Mansfield and Bath). The rest of his appearances were as a sub. He ...

Re: New Signing

Great news about Syers and Marrs.

Regarding a new midfielder, MG is always looking to improve but it'd have to be the right player so not exactly cheap. I'm not too sure how far the budget would stretch without 2/3 outgoings and I think a forward would be a priority for me.

Re: New Signing

Turnbull and Syers excellent players for this level Portas is unproven. Galbraith is not a central midfielder and Scott is not good enough. In my opinion we need another combative midfielder to replace Falkingham, but with a bit more height. I wouldn't say Portas is unproven given he certainly did ...

Re: New Signing

Well that's the defender signed now for a central midfielder and a forward then we'll be done. I think that another central midfielder would be a luxury as we already have Portas, Turnbull, Scott and potentially Syers. I agree regarding a forward, although I'd probably expect that we'd see a few ou...
