Disappointed to see him go. Clearly had potential and I think this season could’ve been a big one for him with a full pre-season behind him.
But it sounds like he’s heading to an exciting opportunity and you can’t blame him for that at all.

Re: mark beck
Latest update from the Echo on Beck: “While Dos Santos’ exit will disappoint some supporters, Armstrong is optimistic about the chances of bringing striker Mark Beck back to the club. “A free agent after leaving Harrogate Town at the end of last season, Sunderland-based Beck has trained with Darling...

Re: Danny Rose appointed Player-Coach
Rose said on social media at the time he was joining as a player-coach. For whatever reason, the club didn’t.
So today’s announcement isn’t “new” information as Rose had already confirmed he was a player-coach.

We have a few Monday games which is weird Why is it weird? We have four Monday matches, three of which are Bank Holidays. August Bank Holiday Monday and Easter Monday are days we always play matches on. Boxing Day is a Monday too. The other Monday night is away to Bradford PA, who always play their...

Re: Newton Aycliffe v Darlington Tuesday July 5th.
Doing some amateur sleuthing on some of squad from last night. Seems we had four academy players on the bench, but also two names who aren’t listed on our academy page, Kaelin Robinson and Josh Scott. Can’t find anything on Robinson, but there are two North East-linked Josh Scotts. One is a Newcastl...

Re: mark beck
Think I may be the odd one out from our fans, but I preferred Cassidy to. Beck, neither are goal scorers but Cassidy was more mobile and supportive across the pitch, especially when our defence was under pressure, never saw that in Beck, plus think we will quickly revert to lumping the ball forward...

Re: mark beck
He’s training with us, and according to the Echo, he’d be willing to accept a deal: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/20254701.darlington-mark-beck-back-training-quakers/ Get the impression if another club came in with a full time offer that would complicate things but he’s clearly someone we ...

Re: Newton Aycliffe v Darlington Tuesday July 5th.
Ah yes, I do love the pre-season friendlies, where some fans read too much into one result. Doubtless if we get anything less than a 3-0 win tomorrow night, the usual prophets of doom on here will be predicting relegation and slagging off AA. But in all seriousness you are right Old Git. Some fans w...

He's said ST first then possibly a CB. I am not saying we won't get a CB but will it be a senior defender who we actively rotate with Wheater and Lawlor I am not sure. Get a feeling it will be more likely to be a Taylor / Beeden / Storey ie under 23. I wouldn’t read too much into the “main focus”co...

Next priority has to be a central defender. We know it's not. It is a striker. Armstrong said this was his main focus. A CB sounds like it could be next if budget allowed but I am not convinced we can afford to have three first choice CBs when we play with two. Just listened back to the interview a...

He’s only 28, which is a bit mental. Exciting signing for sure, he’s either going to flop or be a huge success. I can’t imagine a middle ground. I think you’ve got it spot on. If his head is in the right place and his attitude is right, he’s got the potential to rip up the league. The danger is he ...

Re: Potential new signings
Mark Becks was in Newcastle I’m assuming as he was with Gillespie today (source Instagram) I feel he will go Gateshead. They’ve been good mates since they were at Carlisle together. It’s between us and Shields for Beck. Now you’re getting my hopes up. The thought of Beck and Hazel up front together...

When I Ty you call me a troll so no winning with you lad I (and others) think you’re a troll because you post daft things to get a reaction like: “It’s mid-June and we’ve clearly not finished all our signings but we’re going to finish bottom half” or “I’ve been a fan for 15 years but why do people ...

Yeh sure it will be me and not you, and as to who is behaving like a prick, agree let’s leave it to other people to decide. Goodnight. Second time you’ve said that…. So pre season is often about speculation, conjecture, ifs and buts as to we may or may not be signing. Very little is based on fact because rightly so us fans have no idea really. That’s not a justification to make up that we’ve been rejected by 5 players, and use that made up fact to criticise the...

Come on Gramps your better than this! Would be amazed if we hadn’t tried for Lowe, Woods, Allen, Cooper, O’Donnell, Felix, Wearne etc. All good players who would have added value in positions that most of us have said we need strengthening. Totally accept that some will have gone to full time clubs which we cannot compete with and of c...

Re: Potential new signings
I can only assume he is meaning Nathan Lowe, Kaine Felix, Stephen Wearne... Not sure who else, going by names mentioned on this thread. And of those three, the only one confirmed by the club that we were definitely in for was Lowe. I appreciate fans will have heard various rumours and so on, and I’...

Ok, understand still plenty of time and have a nucleus of a side which differs from last year. Get it. Cannot deny though that we were all saying similar things last summer and it ended up pear shaped. Agree we have to aim high to quote AA but that only works if we actually get some of those player...

Re: Potential new signings
You’re relentless and tedious… my original point is based upon players that other teams have signed around us. We have made a good start with Hazel and I am probably being impatient. I would like to see a couple more signings before the first preseason game. Huzzah! We’ve got there. Glad you’ve con...

My opinion is I feel that our current squad isn’t good enough to compete for playoffs Of course it isn’t, because we haven’t completed our business yet. Players have been on holiday. Contracts still run until June 30th. As a genuine question, why are you so desperate to make any sort of judgement n...

Darloed, you say "The early bird catches the first worm". What about "Slow and steady wins the race"? We had our first three permanent signings (Rose, Hazel and Sukar) sorted by May 19th. Hazel was sorted before the last game of the season. That all seems pretty early to me. By mid-June we had 15 p...

If your opinion is a ludicrous one designed to get a rise out of people, then I’ve every right to challenge you on it. And saying we’ll finish bottom half of the table when we’re not at the end of June is a silly, baseless opinion. Don’t make the mistake of thinking because you hold an opinion I ha...

Looking at the likes of Kidderminster, Boston and even Peterborough Sports making quality signings is so frustrating. I honestly feel a bottom half finish this season is the reality. You are definitely a troll on the wind up. Another six weeks until the season starts, the bulk of last season’s squa...

Re: Retained list
Really happy to keep Griffiths. A solid performer in my opinion and helps keep some continuity in the back line. And with the extra games this season, he, Hedley and Sukar will get plenty of match time. Think that takes us to 15 players in the squad now. Pretty clear what we need as well. A centre b...
