Re: New stadium funding

I think some mistakes were made but at the time we had no other option than BM. As mentioned not enough seats was a massive error and when we eventually got enough seats the roof doesn't fit over them 100%. After the first half year we had to fix the pitch drainage as well, could it have been done i...

Re: The Top 12, Tuesday April 12th 2022

Thanks Ginge, great review again. I actually think we will just fall short also but I think that's me just playing it safe, we all know anything can happen and we have the best form. What an exciting end to the season, let's be honest after Guiseley away I genuinely wondered if we could pull out of ...

Re: The Top 12, Tuesday April 5th 2022

York have won 1 in 5 or 2 in 7, their form isn't great currently. Now they are in the box seat but current form doesn't suggest anything great and their next 4 games are, A v Brackley, A v Chorley, H v Spennymoor and A v Alfreton. They will have cemented their playoff place in those 4 games or be ri...

Re: Tuesday night 5th games

Chorley win pretty much puts them in the play offs barring an absolute disaster. So it's a battle for two places, whoever puts a good run in the final 7/8/9 games will make it out of the pack - form wise currently is Darlo, Kettering but then York have the games in hand. Also form can change very qu...

Re: Alfreton next .

Quite a few who don't always go to away games are showing an interest in this one. I am guessing at 250/300 will head to Alfreton, quite a buzz currently and after the ups and downs of this season it's great to have with 7 games to go. Would love us to have something to play for in those last few ga...

Playing quite well last couple of games according to Rochdale forum.

I am sure a full pre-season and he will go from strength to strength, I know we all want him to do so well that Rochdale sell him for big money.

Nelson won't be back until 23/24 season in any fit form.

I am sure the club will keep in touch and confident Nelson will work with Danny on his recovery but it's a long road back for him currently.

Re: New Signing or Signings

I have sympathy for AA with Charman and Hatfield both leaving. But we have to accept we are faced with another rebuild. I disagree. We’ve lost two phenomenal players for this level but the general squad is in a far, far healthier place than the summer and early season. We’ve now got a solid keeper ...

Mchale has now signed also.

Wheatley will stay at Markse and we have about 5 central midfielders for now.

Possibly more signings, don't think anyone is leaving at this point but guessing Wheatley won't be coming back and will leave in the summer.

New Signing or Signings

Transfer window for us today, will open this thread for us to discuss whoever comes in - hopefully a new signing, maybe more than one.

Anyone want to guess or heard any rumours?

It's not always worked out for Cassidy, but I think it's nonsense to compare him to Ainge or suggest the "ball needs to be within 1m or he ain't bothering" Cassidy can be decent on his day, he doesn't have enough days to be honest. However I think he needs support in and around him, last night we h...

Re: Building for Season 2022/23

Wheatley must be kept at all costs. He’s had a difficult season and there are circumstances for that but he’s been exceptional in the years before that and he’s one of the very few good young players we have. If Moke, a 32 year old has been brought in as a replacement I’ll be very disappointed. Whe...

That's how I remember it, we played them twice in the league, twice in the FA Cup and once in the Leyland Daf. I think Pepper only played in four of them though but managed to get sent off 3 times.

I don't expect DW to make starting lineup just yet, unless one or more of our current CB's is injured / banned. Could be doing his coaching badges and preparing for extending his career into management as eventual successor to AA?
You may get a surprise today.

Re: Darlington V Chester

Nice to have an enjoyable Saturday night. Thought Mondal was decent in the forward role, he has struggled out wide previously but he actually was a good option playing more central - very happy for him. As mentioned by many a lot of work to do but it was nice to enjoy watching us play and look like ...

Re: Telford V Darlington

Agree with the above in regards to Saturday. I think AA has done a great job at turning the defence around this season, however our lack in some games of a killer instinct allows the opposition to work out we can at times be a bit toothless (without Charman) and go at us. If we score first we do ok,...

Re: Telford V Darlington

The defence has and is the issue that has held us back this season - we are one of the top goal scorers in the league. We have not progressed from when Tommy Wright was in charge. Storey must be looking at Saturdays game and be thinking what do I have to do to get in this team. The defence was larg...

Re: Luke charman

Charman had at least one offer in the summer to go full time a division above, AA convinced him to stay with us and he would have better opportunities. He wanted to go full time (who blames him) but AA has used his management style/skill to get the best out of Luke and he then had a lot more offers....

I get the feeling Lawlor won't be with us next season, I hope he is but I think not. I am guessing the fact he has received a pay out from Hartlepool and a contract from us, means his wage hasn't dropped at this point. So sensibly from his point of view he will be looking for the best offer and poss...

Great to have Lawlor back. The slight disappointment is that he is only on a contract until the end of the season. Taylor, Ellis, Lawlor, Hatfield, Rose, Purver, Cassidy; we need to try and build the squad around these next season. A fully fit David Wheater would be a bonus. Yep hoping and expectin...

Lawlor won’t be coming back if Pools, sorry Raj keep being little cry babies because we wouldn’t let them talk to Charman I'd be surprised if that had an impact, they want him off the wage bill and that's what we are able to offer. You're forgetting how Raj conducts himself when annoyed/angry.

Whilst I agree with a lot of the lower expectations here. A couple of precedent cases in the past to losing our best player. In 1984 we lost Alan Walsh only to kick on massively the season after. In 1988 we lost David Currie and fell apart. The difference was the manager. Cyril Knowles was very adept at unearthing gems, while David Booth brought in gash. ...

Rochdale are interested also and National League team showed interest previous and one in our division. I would assume they will be plenty more for a player who can score goals with feet or head, close, outside the box and no doubt left foot/right foot. His work rate is outstanding and the fact he w...
