Re: Darlington v Buxton Match Thread

Throwing away the 3-0 goal lead really brought home the fact that football teams are built from the mid field, which for us was the problem. Why on earth Bruno took the first penalty is beyond me. He had a bad game - picked up a booking because he lost it and even battered the ball into the hoarding...

Re: Darlo v Prescot Cables Match Thread

Seen them play alot worse and win. We had all the possession and so many corners I lost count - we just couldn't shoot straight. Frustrating. Next game is a big one.

Re: Thatcher's Dead

Remember that Thatcher stopped any detailed investigation of the Yorkshire police's role at Hillsborough as she needed them her side during the miners strike.
I see Ding Dong the Witch is Dead is shooting up the charts.

Re: Tinned food thread derailment

In the UK there are people who have religious faith, including those whose faith is other than Christianity and there is arguably a majority in the UK who have no faith at all- (only 1% or 2% regularly go to church). The Club should not be seen to favour any particular group. Letting a Christian gro...

Re: Tinned food thread derailment

Collecting for a food bank is perhaps an appropriate way to honour the memory of Thatcher and the society she and her successors have given us.

If the church wants to help the poor it could give up the tax breaks it gets.
I'm really uncomfortable about Darlo being associated with these people.

Re: Thatcher's Dead

Interesting stuff about Thatcher in todays paper. Her relationship with her kids was strange. When they were born they immediately slept with the nanny in her room and when they were old enough they were packed off to boarding school. Thatcher never went to their school sports days or prize giving. ...

Re: Thatcher's Dead

Lets forget the rhetoric about Thatcher and look at the hard facts of her legacy. FACT: Council houses were sold off well below their value for ideological reasons and because housing stock was not expanded we now have a chronic house shortage. One third of former council houses are now owned by pri...

Re: Spen's blog

A Darlo fan next to me at the Spenny game said that the racist chanting coming from Spenny fans down by the corner flag was the worse he'd heard since the 70's. Apparently they had caught sight of a young black Darlo fan in the crowd and were hurling abuse at him. Why does nobody ever get ejected fo...

Re: Capacity last nite?

Saw sign on pole at the Darlo end last night, "Dogs must be on lead". That's one for Harry Pearson's next book!.......I wonder if that includes Bedlington Terriers?

Seriously, that Spenny ground has such a slope on it I reckon it could be used as a ski run.

A wonderful night!

Re: High speed rail

We wanted to go see our son in London over Easter. Two standard return tickets - Darlo to Kings Cross, coming back two days later are £377.00. We won't be going. Ironically we now give more public subsidies to the privatised rail companies than we gave out when they were in public ownership. We also...

Enjoyed clearing the snow with the players and filming them all having a snow ball fight. It was back breaking work. Clearing the pitch brought a whole new meaning to "Darlo Uncovered". I counted approx. 45 people with the players - only met two Bishop fans

Re: FAO any athiests on here (by this I mean Q)

OK it's nice to see the Youtube clip showing how a bad guy learnt new ways but I really think it is inappropriate for this site to be used to push religion. It should be "off topic" at least. But as you've let this in I'd like to say that it is possible to be good without God. All the evidence is th...

Re: Is 4-3-3 the answer?

That 4-3-3 line up looks good to me, except for Keltie who has yet to do anything. Football teams are built from the midfield. That's where our problem is. I'm sure Martin will sort it out.
