Re: Latest friendly

I had a rough count on Sat, between 130 and 150 I would say attended from Darlo. Nice sunny day, all be it a touch windy on a 3G pitch, and environment felt safe. Looked like we were cruising first 30mins, playing good football. Old defensive errors with the old England song coming to mind - "We are...

Re: Latest friendly

I am so looking forward to the game today, (sad I know), it's been such a long time a win would be good for confidence but just happy to see footy again. I wonder how many tickets we actually sold, hope Scarboro are able to sell any spares on the day (clubs will need whatever money they can get at t...

Re: Arena it is

Is Boris a mate of Fat Josh? His decree of no more than 6 people may have just killed the new season and our plans to get the trial events in, let alone full games. Why did this news get released at 22:30 last night? Rule was no more than 30 people before so just reduced from that, this is not rela...

Re: Latest friendly

I am certainly joining the queue and hoping to get a ticket. Looking at the web site it appears to be only available at the shop and not on line which is good and bad in ways I suppose. Good in that it will be definite fans that get opportunity, and that tickets wont have gone in a couple of minutes...

Re: Arena it is

I am so looking forward to the footy starting again, I have so missed it (darlo footy of course, not over keen on this premier league stuff personally) and i don't care where we played i would have gone. A few of my mates would not have the Arena as first choice but just happy to get back to watchin...

Re: Ground share

Appreciate individuals views on the arena, but from memory I am sure that DJ explained earlier that we have the funds to cover us till end of Dec then finances have gone, with no income by staying at BM (I assume even with 30% capacity it will be small amounts, and we lose money on normal crowds at ...

Re: Ground share

As a club we seem to be on the front foot with DJ and the board in charge. Think this is an excellent idea for us if it comes off, and a nightmare organising who attends if not. I for one would be happy to go back to the arena temporarily if it allows me to watch the Quakers play football, (really m...

While I agree Hatfield was our best player, the one that for me was exciting to watch was Donawa, so voted for him, Goal Campbell vs York.

Re: Maguire & Langstaff Released

Must be a bit of a puzzler for Watson at York, released 13 players, loan players returned to there clubs, offered 4 first team players new contracts and only one has signed to date and 2 left, also head physio leaves and goes to Pools. Therefore other than young players think he has Jameson in goal ...

Re: Sports village

Wonder if the land next to rugby club is for sale ,(to the right of the building and next to the road, and think still owned by the council?), and big enough for a ground? could it be an option, as reasonable walk from the town where we are and we would not have to raise cash for car park etc. Just ...

Re: Next season’s captain

I have watched McNulty a couple of times this season, obviously got a footballing brain, but over weight and slow plus prone to be little bit underhand possibly when marking an attacker. Quick forwards caught him out, so would not want him to be honest, (and doubt we could afford him). Also was not ...

York also had Steve McNulty at cente half who was vastly experienced at a higher level so may have had a hand in the low goals against?

Same as Old Git, I thought Martin Jasper did well for us. He brought some stability into running the club, (no disrespect to the previous board who were volunteers and had a hard job balancing the books with the carry over of debt). He always seemed to make it to a few Darlo games after he left to. ...

Orange one for me, burgundy shirt is to close to the one I have from a couple of years back. As I wont be buying the home shirt next season, (too close to the ones I have from last few years), but i would buy the orange one. The whole point of changing the shirts is commercial and raising money for ...

Re: The Team 20/21 season

Not sure I would want Joe Tait back either. Seem to remember he jumped ship from us to Spennymoor, then never signed to renew contract at Spenny to apparently go abroad but signed for York. AA has said he wants players who want to play for the Quakers, not sure Tait fits that description (have watch...

Re: New deals for Donawa,Hatfield,Rivers,Holmes,Hedley,Reid,Storey,Campbell,Laing,Wheatley,Liddle,Watson,Atkinson

With Tez, I assume that he has two things to think about:- Will he be first choice centre half? I am not sure he will and that may be a factor in his discussion. His contract offer will have been reduced, one assumes in line with the others, (last of the large wage players?), and what we can afford ...

Re: Boost the budget

I am I suppose one of the luckier ones in this pandemic, as I am on a pension, therefore cant lose my job and to be honest saving money as pubs are shut, (in pub with mates normally most days and don't like drinking at home), and saving on fuel for the car. So while previously upped my monthly contr...

Re: Potential new signings

From what Shed 7 said, and he "knows for a fact" one assumes that Spennymoors budget was considerably smaller than ours, therefore it must be the "vibes" that good players went there for. We cant compete with that if "true". As for Styche and Ange he could be right on that money, but we could not af...

Re: Potential new signings

Maguire played few games for York last year due to injury and therefore never really made an impact with the game or fans. AA mentioned during the season that some players struggle for injuries when training full time, so maybe Maguire himself has rethought his position, (think he worked for his mat...

Re: National League advises ending the season

That is a pity about Partick thistle, went to see them play Ross County a while back after a night out with friends from Inverness. Partick had a nice "proper" ground, good club bar and great set of friendly fans, plus a shortish walk into Glasgow city centre for a few beers after. I would certainly...
