Re: Central defence

Agree with Pete. It's too early to be sure, though our defence looked solid as he says, but with the turn of the year it also feels like we have turned a corner and hopefully buried the fall out from MG and his departure. I'm sure others will be glad to put 2017 behind us too.

Re: Darlington FC V Harrogate

Having not been able to get to a match for several weeks I sort of went along to see how bad we'd got and expecting a pasting. Instead of which I thought we were rather good and I rated our keeper as excellent. A team huddle before kick off looked promising and then we got plenty of effort and deter...

Re: Laptop Help

Ha ha. I subscribe to a well known consumer magazine that tests these things. Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue. As OFC well knows!
So I thought I'd have a look and see what they were recommending. In the spirit of being helpful etc. (No I haven't had a visit from the 3 spirits yet).

The HP Pavilion 14-bk052sa does well in reviews. For about £430.

Re: Public Meeting - 11/12/2017

Oh, the irony. Someone asks about something that was as easy to find as a match result and receives helpful, informative, friendly responses.... Clever and witty! Yes, you know how it is when you thought you'd said something inocent and you get a response you didn't expect? Well I was that s...

Re: Match threads - not what they were?

back to my post on this - I liken Feethams1966 query to that of a bloke in a pub approaching a bunch of darlo fans post match saying "what was the score lads?". Would we expect said fellow darlo fans to roll their eyes at the bloke in the pub and tell them to go buy a newspaper? Sent from my SM-A52...

Re: Match threads - not what they were?

Sorry I didn't mean to cause any disharmony, it was just a polite request to see if those who used to post their updates and match opinions on Uncovered might kindly continue to do so during games, for the benefit of old timers like me who perhaps aren't familiar with other platforms away from this ...

Re: Match threads - not what they were?

Yeah, thanks for that, I followed the link; that's the first time I've been on Twitter, TBH I think what's put me off twitter is the reports of that American bloke who trumpets tweets all the time. Couldn't get the highlights to go full size though, like You Tube does. Could be something to do with ...

Re: Match threads - not what they were?

I didn't know about Twitter but I suppose I'm of an age where I never will send tweets, do facebook, instagran or whatever. If I can't get to a game the match threads have usually kept me up to date whether I'm ill, abroad in other countries, or just somewhere else that the wife insists I have to be...

Match threads - not what they were?

Since I began re-attending Darlington matches in 2012 after an absence of many years, one of the delights and surprises for me was to discover the Darlo Uncovered site, and the match threads became one of the regular nail-biting sources of updates I'd go to for the very latest news in matches (that ...

When the Archbishop of York (Mr Sentamu) was being made an honarary Yorkshireman at Theakstons brewery he explained that his middle name is Mugabe and his mother must have known something because when it's said backwards, it reads ebagum!
It's true.

Re: Darlington v Brackley Town

I think we just need to give the new management team time, it must be only the third or fourth time they've seen us play. It's not long since people on this forum were desperate to get Cartman back; some people have short memories. He gives 100% and is Darlo through & through like a stick of black a...

Re: Tough times

Does anyone know what the prognosis is for Brown's return? Haven't heard much recently. I think I speak for all when I say I hope he's still on the mend and recovering OK. If he's able to return, I hope the enforced lay off won't affect his fitness and quality of play. We could have done with him ye...

Due to other committments I haven't seen us play for 6 weeks and was shocked today at how low we've sunk. Out fought Out thought Out muscled Out of ideas. Someone said it was men against boys; too true I'm afraid, today was a shambles. The (mostly) same players who last season were playing with conf...

Pee'd off

Apparently, and according to the BBC, Salford's goalkeeper was sent off this afternoon for urinating during their match with Bradford.
Police were alerted following a complaint from a spectator. Can only assume the poor man must have been dreadfully caught short.

I wonder whether the players who've been mentioned in this thread would actually want to follow Gray to York. Depending on his man management style, what if they were glad to see the back of him? In my trade I had some good managers and some I was glad to see the back of.

Until the late moment last season when we learned of the play-offs fiasco, and the fans forum blast off, it had all been going so well. We had nearly 5 years of excitement, drama and entertainment. Yes Martin could come across as surly at post match interviews but as a football team manager he gave ...

If this is still a post about York City transfer targets, I'll chip in here. The one player I never want to see leave is Gary Brown. For me anyway, he's always our best player and he's been so loyal and consistent.
