Re: Spenny signings

Would Chandler at this point actually go straight into our midfield? I don't think so based on how strong we were there last season. Maybe a couple of the lads don't make the step up and he'd have played his way in, but who do you drop for him after how formidable Turnbull, Scott and Portas have bee...

Re: Whitby re-arranged Thu 21 @ 1945hrs

Would it have really been a major hassle to have another go at getting the game on this coming Wednesday night rather than cram another fixture into an already stupid schedule!?

Re: Referee at todays match vs Rushall

He was soft, let Rushall get away with a game plan that was pretty much to break up the game and foul at every opportunity, but he wasn't that bad. Was a free kick he should haven for a foul on Brown first half and a handball which really the linesman was better placed to see than the ref. Other tha...

Re: NANTWICH MATCH POSTPONED :(

Last season the best team won/bought the league. Fair do's. This season I have no doubt at all that we're the best team in the league. We've beaten the next two biggest/best sides in the division home and away and played excellent stuff the majority of the time, as well as digging our way out of som...

Or even just definitely not December/January. Nobody at this level will have any summer tournaments to worry about. A winter break and a June finish would work fine.

Gregorio went back to California and opened his own sporting goods store.

I'm sure Ian Clark was coaching at Billingham Town when we played them in the Northern League?

Re: End of Season Review

Best Game: Spennymoor away. Obviously the playoff game against them was insanely exciting, but really it was a nerve shredding back and forth war of a game, where as we absolutely took them to pieces in the league game away. By far the best team performance of the season I saw. Worst Game: Northwich...

Agreed on the football side of things, I think players ability to commit given their jobs and personal lives the further we go up will be more of a reason than their ability to hold their own at the next level though.

Re: I have to admit I was wrong.

What concerns me with Whitey is when he squares up to opposition players after a bit of rough and tumble. Just takes the tiniest thing in those situations to get sent off, but I don't think he's been in trouble at all as a result of that. So long as you're not being abusive to referees, there's noth...

Re: Leavings this Summer

Not sure I agree with flapping and overhauling the squad in a desperate bid to go straight up. We've got the two most important initial promotions out of the way. We can afford to establish ourselves at the NPL and build a strong side for when we eventually do look to move into the Conf North, which...

Re: Leavings this Summer

I'm hoping the theme of non attacking/second striker type central midfielders not getting noticed much keeps up and Portas has slipped under the radar. He could easily play higher up.

Re: cartman

Had his best game when it mattered most too. His overall contribution is great as well, he's a totally different player than I was expecting when we signed him. He can go deep, get the ball in midfield and make stuff happen as a play maker too as well as being a goal scorer. I was expecting a pacey ...

Re: With all this ticket crap...

Would any fans right now wished we had stayed in the Conference/ Conference North instead of going bust and starting from scratch. We didn't go bust. We exited administration with the debts to players and the FA decided to treat us as a new club and make us play in the Northern league. Because of t...

Re: 1500?

I think we need to milk this promotion for all it's worth, partly because Martin and the players deserve every bit of credit available for it, and also to get the town back on our side. We're not a sob story anymore, we've transformed ourselves from a miserable relegated 4 tiers and banished out of ...

Re: Team for Saturday

I suggested dropping Thompson before the Spenny game and gave him the benefit of the doubt when a few others made some counter points. I respect his acknowledgement that he didn't have a good game and his great attitude of putting the teams success before his personal frustration on the night, but y...

3rd in line please... Unfortunately turned up this morning at 11.45 to find that they had none left. Gutted as I've attended every home game this season. Re: Match thread

The best thing about last night was we won it with guts, character and bottle, something that has gone missing in some of our big crunch games this and last season. No questioning how good of a side we are, but when the going gets tough in a vital pressure game, sometimes the performance isn't there...

Fair points lads. I hope to see a lot more urgency from Tommo, but really I can't grumble too much about Gray going with a side unbeaten in the last 9. Tommo almost looked injured at Lancaster. Hopefully he'll be one of those who benefits from the rest at the weekend and we'll see him at his best on...

For me: Bell Brown White Hunter Watson Mitchell Portas Scott Galbraith Armstrong Dowson No problem with Cartman for Dowson, either way that sub will likely take place at some point whichever starts, but the big talking point for me is Thompson's lethargic performances of late. Can't have anyone drag...
