Re: Martin Gray sacked by York

Re the T.W./Nuneaton situation - I would say that's a pretty accurate summary there Gramps. Re Gray - the thought occurs that because of his forum antics/bad team form/+ other stuff, there was a possibility that our board would of liked to have sacked him about a month or so before he left us in th...

Re: Spennymoor tonight.

Who says that Uncle Brad has stopped funding Spenny like? I'm sure that if he had done, then it would have been reported on. He made a statement claiming that he had put a 7 figure sum into the club, and that he was looking for investors so there would be less reliance on him in the future but did a...

Re: Darlington FC V Curzon Ashton Match Thread

Would agree with those ratings apart from Ainge who I thought should be at least a 6, and probably 7 for the first half hour.

He was winning headers that he had no right to get near in the 1st half.

Re: Darlington FC V Curzon Ashton Match Thread

Chester was 2,191 Hereford was 2,836. Both clubs it could be argued are similar size to Darlo and maybe in Hereford's case they could be claimed to be smaller. Both clubs started again and saw big increases in crowds, but when we had to "start again", in hindsight being in Bishop has cost us the opp...

Re: Darlington FC V Curzon Ashton Match Thread

Disappointing crowd today of only 1,488 (though with only 10 or so away fans) - even Chorley got more. Chester, who have always been a similar sized club to us, kicked off with 2,200 - we've fallen way behind our "peers" in recent seasons. Don't even want to talk about the match. Shambles, team of s...

Re: Former Players sly digs at TW on twitter

Unfortunate. Whilst I'm sure those players look up to Gray and think the sun shines out of his arse, the problem is that his "professionalism" and success came at a cost, and this cost became beyond what we could afford. The players don't need to worry about stuff like how do we finance success, but...

Re: Tom Elliott

Hopefully he can cover RB too. Pretty happy with that squad now. We only have 6 defenders, one being a 19 year old youth, one being permanently injured, and one often injured. I'd say we need 2 defenders. I know Elliot can cover right back, I know Ainge can drop into defence, but that's not ideal.

The content is alright and new stories are posted fairly regularly. However, the stories are all out of order - you find the latest article rather than being the first headline it can quite literally be in any random position on the home page - making it a bit of a chew to find the latest article. Regardless of where the money is coming from - that's a good signing that, it has to be said.

Although they've still got no one of the quality of Thompson, Styche or Ainge in their line up.

No, he meant the most successful manager in our 134 year history. But he isn't, as you can't compare winning the Northern League and Evostik League with winning the Conference, or Division 4 or the FA Trophy.

And so the seed of another "grampathon" is sown. You were the one who said you didn't want a long argument. You can't get involved in an argument and then complain when people reply. Either don't respond, or don't complain when I reply to you. You can't have it both ways. One day I might want to ar...

You're as obsessive about the so called "obsessives", as the so called "obsessives" are about Gray. Hardly. I simply can't understand why, 10 months after his departure, people are still commenting on every move MG and York makes. It's bemusement, not obsession. And I'll keep expressing that opinio...

Interesting interview with TW up on the website, with Kev asking pressing questions. Bit disappointed to hear that TW feels as though he's done in the transfer market, as we are looking a bit light in the centre of midfield. Haven't really replaced Phil Turnbull. I think Hughes was brought in to do...

I think some wanted him to sign for us. Except we signed Burn a few weeks back, so Tait returning was never going to happen. It's more the case that this will be just another reason for The Obsessives to get wound up about York and MG. You're as obsessive about the so called "obsessives", as the so...

Re: Mr Gray in todays NLP

As LoidLucan says, it seems as though Gray didn't feel like we were spending anywhere near enough to compete with the likes of York, Salford and Harrogate, and this is true because we do not have a millionaire backer willing to fund the club to a full time level. This is ultimately why Gray jumped s...

We're definitely part time, but last season we had several players on what can only be described as "full time" money, thanks to Gray spending every penny that he could get his hands on.

Yeah, I saw a little video on twitter showcasing all of Ainge's many goals since converting to a striker - my god, he looked phenomenal in the air. No, Spennymoor isn't a derby. Hartlepool is a derby. Even though it's been about 12 years since we played them, I want to beat them more ferociously than any other team. When we lost to Hartlepool last time, the 3-0 at the Arena, I was miserable as sin for the next 48 hours. Spennymoor has neither ...

Slightly disappointing that a Darlo fan with time on his hands chooses to help out a club that doesn’t need the help as much as we do. We maybe didn't ask him to return.
