Re: The UK as it will look in the future

The SNP received 45% of the vote in Scotland, and that includes the votes of people who want to remain part of the U.K.

There is no mandate for another Scottish independence referendum.

Re: General Election 2019

The thing is, even if the Tories win, I’ll still be depressed about the number of people who voted for Corbyn.

It’s like when everyone votes for what to eat and a Curry wins, but you can’t enjoy it because you know the second most popular meal was you.

Can’t be arsed to read the usual guff above from the Remoaners but thought I’d share this classic from Jenny Chapman demanding a General Election days after she voted against one earlier this week 🙄

Re: Democracy under threat.

The one option Parliament voted for was the Malthouse Conpromise (effectively May’s deal without the backstop). That’s what Boris is trying to get the EU to change. If he gets that change and then Parliament vote it down again then it will be clear that Parliament will not accept our departure. In t...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Call an election, make it exclusively about Brexit and then he can have a mandate for what he wishes, if the public vote for it. His has a mandate for leaving - it was originally given in 2016 and then re-affirmed in 2017. I'm not sure why you don't think he has a mandate. The ballot paper said "Le...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Johnson’s overplayed his hand on this one. You can’t argue for the sovereignty of parliament and then suspend it because you don’t like what it says. I disagree. They are losing only 4 days of debate time. After three years of titting around, 4 days do no matter. They will also have time to debate ...

I still view Darlo as a Tory town because that’s what I grew up with.

When our fantastic town returns a Tory MP again, I will think about moving back home.

Re: Democracy under threat.

Sadly those who voted UKIP to force the leaving thought that once the referendum took place it was a done deal and they went back to their "natural" parties. Big, big mistake. Yes, I was annoyed at Farage downing tools after the referendum (although he did deserve a breather) as the pressure needed...
