Re: Gary Martin

The biggest worry if we do get promoted is the ground situation. If we get up and the players we can afford aren't enough to stay in the league then c'est la vie. However, can we find the cash to get BM up to conference national standard in time? And thats if we even want to spend that cash at BM -...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

Red seats was always the wrong colour for us, why did George go for red, was it when he wanted to change the shirts to red and white stripes? It looks like the seats are almost completely bleached now anyway, so if we do go back to the Arena we might finally have white seats.

Re: Darlington V Gloucester

Mystified by complaints about the pitch to be honest. You won't find a much better one at this level. It looks in absolutely fine condition?! It's a bit of an error by Connell for me, i'm a little bit confused by what he's actually doing for the goal. Weird how things can turn around for a player, ...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

But how much financially would we stand to lose by shipping out of B.Meadows early? It's all very well making more on extras at The Arena, but what about the assets we leave behind - the Tinshed and side stand, they have a value and they cost us a lot to set up. How many years of extra income at Th...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

That figure for our 7th place conference campaign says it all. 1,800 overall, and i've just looked at our highest league attendance that year... It was 3,000 against York. We literally could have fit our highest attendance that year in Blackwell Meadows as it stands. We do not need to occupy a stad...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

You think we won't get a crowd a 5000 more than once in the next 7 years?! We aren't in the Northern League anymore you might have noticed. I'll trust the judgement of DJ above yours with all respect.

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

I'm taking about those games that are above the average, If you get an average of 1886 then most gates will be below 1886 and a small number of big gates will boost it. i.e. its a long tailed distribution. You lose that with a small capacity. Remember in most seasons we'll get the odd gate of 6,000 ...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

The thing I don't understand with this sporting village nonsense is why exactly we have to go and play at the Arena in the meantime, while we develop this mythical ground next to it. To me, it's unachievable to build this stadium, and I am becoming a little suspicious that there is a little dishone...

Re: Replay vs Solihull ??

It is a fixed amount - for the fixed games. Sounds more like an AirBnB arrangement than a tenancy. It’s not a tenancy, it’s a license to use the facility for a set number of days during set times. If it was a tenancy we’d have certain rights. I see, I wasn't aware of that. No wonder DJ wants to neg...

Re: Replay vs Solihull ??

We will be lucky to get 800. However 800 * 8 (likely to be average of 8 with concessions/children = £6,400 (Remove VAT gets you to approx. £5,340. £5,340 - Rent (Lets say £1,500) down to £3,840. Then remove any costs for security if we need it, say £500 so £3,340. Coach cost for Solihull £800 leave...

Re: Replay vs Solihull ??

Because we’d have been better rested up for York in the league where we could do with a win. Because we’ll be lucky to turn more than a few hundred quid profit once match costs are taken into account and the proceeds are split Because it sounded as though we were on top towards the end and probably...

Re: Simply not good enough

It may not have been good enough in the last game and a half but there's nothing simple about it, as others have pointed out with issues like injuries and options in attack. I think we're a long way from the shambles of last year and even if the season finishes with Quakers below half-way it will b...

Re: Leamington (A)

Our squad is completely lopsided. In midfield, in one way or another, we have Donawa, Hatfield, Lambert, Thompson, Rivers, Holness, Bascome and Campbell - who is an attacking midfielder in reality more than an out and out forward. You missed out Wheatley and also Hedley, who is a midfielder rather ...

Re: Leamington (A)

We don't need to find the perfect striker, but someone on loan who actually knows how to play as a striker would be a massive help. We have nobody who even knows how to play the role. Yet AA brought in Lambert. Because good big strikers cost around £900 a week. And decent loanees from our local clu...

Re: Leamington (A)

We are one player, namely an out and out centre forward, from being a bloody good team for this level. Agreed. This season is about being patient. The next few weeks are going to be tough and I can’t see us winning again until Blyth at the end of the month. During this run just remember that we hav...

No. I'm implying you have a look at our record with and without Laing in the team.
And what does it imply??

That we are defensively a better team without Laing.

Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options

If we won 4 ties and got knocked out in the semi (highly unlikely) we’d gain £28K prize money. To progress on your rationale of playing lower ranked clubs at home, gate receipts after costs(ground rental & stewarding) would be negligible. We’d need an attendance of 1000+ to turn make it worthwhile....

As far as I am aware the idea of moving to a hybrid model was never based on using the cup windfall. This suggestion came entirely from Darlo Pete.

I've been arguing that Campbell isn't a centre forward, but people have been telling me he is fine in that role as evidenced by the number of goals he scored. So is the consensus now that Campbell isn't a centre forward?

The clock is a pain. There we were live on T.V. - getting beamed across the globe to billions of people and the Rugby Club clock says the completely wrong time, as per normal. It works but it is always wrong. Not an hour wrong either way but completely wrong, as per normal. Why don't they just put ...
