Re: Simply not good enough

It may not have been good enough in the last game and a half but there's nothing simple about it, as others have pointed out with issues like injuries and options in attack. I think we're a long way from the shambles of last year and even if the season finishes with Quakers below half-way it will b...

Re: Leamington (A)

Our squad is completely lopsided. In midfield, in one way or another, we have Donawa, Hatfield, Lambert, Thompson, Rivers, Holness, Bascome and Campbell - who is an attacking midfielder in reality more than an out and out forward. You missed out Wheatley and also Hedley, who is a midfielder rather ...

Re: Leamington (A)

We don't need to find the perfect striker, but someone on loan who actually knows how to play as a striker would be a massive help. We have nobody who even knows how to play the role. Yet AA brought in Lambert. Because good big strikers cost around £900 a week. And decent loanees from our local clu...

Re: Leamington (A)

We are one player, namely an out and out centre forward, from being a bloody good team for this level. Agreed. This season is about being patient. The next few weeks are going to be tough and I can’t see us winning again until Blyth at the end of the month. During this run just remember that we hav...

Are you implying that Laing was the reason we lost today? :?
No. I'm implying you have a look at our record with and without Laing in the team.
And what does it imply??

That we are defensively a better team without Laing.

Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options

If we won 4 ties and got knocked out in the semi (highly unlikely) we’d gain £28K prize money. To progress on your rationale of playing lower ranked clubs at home, gate receipts after costs(ground rental & stewarding) would be negligible. We’d need an attendance of 1000+ to turn make it worthwhile....

As far as I am aware the idea of moving to a hybrid model was never based on using the cup windfall. This suggestion came entirely from Darlo Pete.

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

I've been arguing that Campbell isn't a centre forward, but people have been telling me he is fine in that role as evidenced by the number of goals he scored. So is the consensus now that Campbell isn't a centre forward?

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread

The clock is a pain. There we were live on T.V. - getting beamed across the globe to billions of people and the Rugby Club clock says the completely wrong time, as per normal. It works but it is always wrong. Not an hour wrong either way but completely wrong, as per normal. Why don't they just put ...

these areas in black (in the link below) could easily be used to expand the capacity of the ground by only 700. Easily. Re: Gates

I've gone back and forth on the arena vs Blackwell debate over and over again, but now I'm firmly in the anti-arena camp. Blackwell's biggest negative for me it the water-pipe restricting development. I don't mind the clubhouse along one side as I think Blackwell could be ok if a deep terrace could...

Re: Gates

Increasing capacity to 4000 is far from easy. You can only build on about 60% of the open end. A terrace would increase capacity but you'd lose the equivalent of four rows deep standing in front of it. So you are taking about a terrace of 1400 or so, which is not cheap at all. It would have to be tw...

£36K for winning and a possible 75K for a live game in the next round. A win could be worth 120K for us. I think it's pretty important.

Laing gets injured and loses his place... we go on a run of 8 games unbeaten.... Laing returns to the starting line up....? Surely that's an incredibly narrow, simplistic and unfair view of today, given all the circumstances like injuries, unavailability, suspension etc. Yes, I'm exaggerating, but ...

Re: Sold out?

Magic of the cup and all that. Oh for an extra terrace to lift the capacity. I think the capacity is 3,000 for this game. Read figures on twitter somewhere. Walsall got 300, and about 2,700 went on sale to our fans. The ground can't adequately fit 3,000 viewing spectators, there are going to be som...

Doesn't make much sense to give them the whole end if they're only likely to bring 50-100 fans. You could put them all in the corner and they'd have toilets, a food stall and plenty of room. We might have to put some portaloos in for our own fans down that end, but it'd probably be worth it if the ...

It may be a dumb question but where does the £33,000+ figure come from? I can remember seeing a post elsewhere that suggested that getting on TV would be worth £67,000, so I assume that the 33,000 figure is a split of that, but I don't know if the 67,000 is reliable, and the same for all TV compani...

Nicely put super-les, however at the risk of repeating myself, this good run of form has been achieved without the input of dirty money. We were led to believe this wasn't possible.
