Run-in

In the absence of Ginge and his stat machine, I've had a look at the fixtures for the bottom seven (realistically, the others are clear of being dragged into the relegation places). Even (rose-tintedly) allowing for us having the best record (W4 D5 L2), we still go down on goal difference. Might nee...

A 1900+ crowd, I think? And presumably all paid spectators, no season tickets, so more than decent.

Re: Scunthorpe...

Do you really think that teams like Banbury, Boston, Buxton, Chester, Farsley (and Darlington, for that matter) aren't bothered about extra prize money otherwise unavailable, and a not-unrealistic shot at Wembley? Serious question.

Ten NLN sides lost to lower league sides today. TEN. Is this a really poor league we're in this year?

Re: ASANTE SIGNS!!!

Like most on this board (I assume), I pay my money to keep the club going, and any chance to bring in more money is welcome. That's why they need to play to win on Saturday. As for 'saving yourself for the next game', well, when I was fit enough, I would play football every day if I had the chance -...

Re: Tamworth V Darlington

Relegation is never the end of the world. It would be a chance to get some enthusiasm back into the club, perhaps with a new set of more local-based players on a lower budget, which is not possible this season. Long way to go yet, though... Our defenders are all good players individually (though Jak...

Re: FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round Draw

Hi Quakersam - according to nonleaguematters, there are just 15 teams in our 'zone' - from your list, Alfreton, Boston, Scunthorpe/Brackley, Macclesfield and Worksop are in the next zone south. Which is probably a good thing - some heavy hitters there.

David Johnston summary interview

I wasn't able to attend the AGM, but I'm not seeing much reaction so far on here, so... I'm sensing just muted praise, but once again I'd have to say he's spot on. I can't think of a better overall leader for the club in all my years as a fan. He comes across so honestly, competently and enthusiasti...

Re: AA has to go now surely

AA's still in credit for me although I understand the fears about some saying they won't back Boost The Budget and the harmful effect of this drastic loss of form on crowds and interest in the club. I just think any important decision like this should be looked at dispassionately and with a longer ...

Re: The Top 13, Saturday Apr 15th 2023

13th is a realistic finish for us. Spennymoor, Kidderminster should win all their remaining games, other teams likely to get more than 64 points. We might struggle to add to our present tally.

What's different here is David Johnston recognizes that fans are, literally, investors, and have an interest in knowing...

Good call, Emdubya. Usually over 300 people tune in, but less than 20 post comments - when it's actually about the game, almost always negative. Every time the opposition goes close, they bay for blood. I gave up commenting. It's hard for Michael to sift this rubbish while he's trying to commentate....

Shockingly (to me anyway), we're only ranked 69 of the 79 in Round 1 (67 if Welling and Potters Bar pull off shock replay wins). For the record, here are the teams below us: 70 Dulwich Hamlet 71 Altrincham 72 Oxford City 73 Poole / Hayes & Yeading 74 Stourbridge / Whitby 75 Nantwich Town 76 Carshalt...

Re: 606 & Swindon Town

Mark Cooper is clearly a good manager in a situation where the team is playing well and morale is high (and who wouldn't be?), but not so good when things get tough. My comment concerns the money 'owed' to him by DFC. In most jobs around the world, termination does not entitle you to have remaining ...
