Re: Chester Away All ticket
Was Caton injury prone, or just plain s***? I can't remember to be honest! Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk I looked at Caton's career info a few weeks back. He seems to often pick up decent contracts then not really produce. Obviously managers see something in him but then it doesn't work o...

Re: Once the dust settles...
It will, but these things run on tight margins. As the Accrington example highlights, that's not enough alone. I think this falls into 'nice to have' but it won't cover the costs of running a football club. So even if you're gunning for base-level self-sustainability you'll need a sports facility w...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped from R1 in 24/25
Easy solution. All teams group together and refuse to play from 1st round onwards unless decision overturned Don’t be silly that would play right in to the hands of the Premier League clubs. They would be very happy to limit it to just Championship and Premier League teams and cut out the little cl...

Re: So who do you want to be relegated Blyth or Farsley>
The sale of Blyth has now been completed so the new owner, Irfan Liaquat, will be able to get on with his ambition to eventually take them into the EFL and all the way up to the Championship. The company that owns Blyth, Winners Worldwide, is said to be involved in luxury hotels and prime real esta...

Re: View from the Board/DJ
Thanks for sharing, both are very informative and positive. It’s easy to be critical of the boards and the pace of progress (I’m guilty of moaning about this through the season) however watching the AGM really shows the dedication and care given by those in charge. Pleased to see a structural review...

We need to ride this wave of positivity and capitalise on it. Get Watson and Mitchell on new deals and announce the BTB ASAP. Let’s have no more negative “struggling to compete financially” interviews to dampen expectations. If Alfreton and Curzon can reach the playoffs then we can compete on our bu...

Re: Darlington V Southport
If Asante is fit, then I'd be amazed if we don't see him come on at least as a substitute. Who are you dropping for him? He has done nothing to show that he is worth a place in the 16 and by leaving the Chorley game during the second half I don’t think he has shown the attitude needed to be around ...

Re: Easter Monday at Warrington Town
The mentality from Watson and Salkeld displayed in the post match interviews was excellent. When Ray said “one more win” Salkeld immediately said they are going for three. Watson said the same in his. Not wanting to dig Ray out but the “one more win” rather than win everything mentality has been our...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
A series of increasingly poor decisions have got us to this point. Not backing Armstrong when Beck left, keeping Armstrong after the poor end to last season, inexplicably hiring Gowling over Watson / Lakeland, letting him sign a million kids, signing assante, and allowing Gowling to stay after Chorl...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
I think I would try something different against Chorley, we know they are a good team and one we don't traditionally do well with. Young Griffiths - Lees - Lawler / Siddick (if fit) - Barrow Headley - Hatfield - Platt Cornish Main - Rutlidge Rationale for me is that Headley has looked good going fo...

For me is keep the following - Griffiths , Hedley , Lees , Barrow , Platt , Hatfield, Salkeld , Cornish , Nelson , Main Undecided on Lindley and Rivers at this point , the rest I think we should move on Maybe lindley will have a good career, I hope he does, but I don't think it will be with us pers...

Sounds like it. If we want to manage risk it feels like we need another striker through the door. What about what's-his-name? If he's not fit now he never will be. :? Even if he’s fit I cannot see the point in playing him as he will be miles short of match fitness with only 7 games to go.Such a sic...

I thought Rivers was outstanding when he came on last night, full of energy, pressed the ball, hassled defenders and made the them sit deeper. Excellent on the ball too.

Point a couple of cctv cameras into the section behind the goal and you’ll find the bell end immediately. Not difficultDarlopartisan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 6:53 pmOn look north, saying our ground could be closed, we need to find this person asap, makes me so angry

A regular poster on here often posts club finance updates on Twitter. An analysis of those with paid positions and their playing budgets compared to ours would be interesting. I’m sure I saw that Scarborough have a paid commercial team but much higher revenues.

Re: What's the point of fan ownership?
I've always been unsure about the dividing lines between Darlington 1883 Ltd and the main shareholder, DFCSG. As DFCSG has an overwhelming majority of the shares, perhaps it's time for them to appoint the Ltd. Co. Board from its own ranks. it could be the same people, if DFCSG chose, providing they...

Just read about the takeover at Blyth and how they are already planning for new players next season. Totally get that it does not guarantee success but my god it helps. So that’s basically every other decent non league club in the N East probably able to offer much better deals than we can. We will...

Re: Boston v Darlington 20/02/24
Fans in general have rose tinted glasses when it comes to ex players or those dropped. Sukar is no better than those we already have. We are going down because 90% of the squad is utter shite and have been for 12 months. We need a complete refresh next season, regardless of which division we are in.

Really poor from our side - I always thought that clubs agree when a signing will be announced ? DJ has led us to a path of success, over the last few years while keeping the finances in check, so not going into administration again, and 6 leagues down. There have been innovations like the way you can pay by tapping on a terminal to pay which were led by the board members, (very rare at other ...
