Re: Team v BPA

It's a tough balance. I can see the argument for prioritising both. Luckily I think with the squad we have, there's a number of options that don't significantly weaken the side - although I'd be nervous about leaving out both Wheatley and Hatfield at the same time. Otherwise is there anyone where yo...

Re: ALFRETON ON TV

My stream's been fine so far. Good commentary and picture quality is good. No action replays though. [emoji38] The lead commentator was...OK I guess. But that co-commentator chatted complete shite non stop. he gave MOM to the Alfreton left back that got tortured by Sousa That was the 'third' commen...

0-0 draw then :D Actually quite a close game in the end, so I called that wrong! They were just starting to get back into it when we scored our second. Credit to Louis Laing, terrific block a couple of minutes before we doubled our lead - that could've been a game changing moment. Sent from my Pixe...

Re: Tyrone O’Neill

O'Neill seemed to play deeper when he came on, behind Maguire and with Campbell and Sousa wide - quite surprised at that given at the time we were 1-0 so in effect went more offensive.

Re: ALFRETON ON TV

Main commentator was good but that Nathan chap was a clown wasn't he? Clearly an experienced goalkeeper though given his strong opinions on Minter and Willis and where they both went wrong. Disregarding the commentary, watching today and the other night shows how good our set-up is. Small things lik...

Re: Alfreton...

I think we’re being a bit over-confident for a team that has only kept 2 clean sheets in 10! We played some brilliant stuff on Tuesday night but let’s not get too over-confident, as equally as Tuesday was good, this time last week was equally as bad! This all day long. We've been bullied out of gam...

Re: Guiseley v Darlington

Others may disagree but I think he has only had a good 45 minutes in each of his previous two games so at least he's consistent! Then again what do I know about football. Your right what do you know, Sousa was at it all game, he's absolutely brilliant and more to come from the lad, I personally thi...

Re: Guiseley v Darlington

Sousa has incredible feet - there was one move not long after our first goal where he got in the box and for all the world looked like he'd square it to Campbell for a relative tap-in (and he should have done) but instead he did a little side step and had a go himself - ball ended up falling to Camp...

Re: Guiseley v Darlington

Everyone played their part tonight but Wheatley ran the midfield with help from Hatfield. Maguire’s confidence should be improved. Hunt, Storey, Charman etc not involved tonight so more quality to come back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It’d be interesting to see if Armstrong ever tries to pu...

Re: FA rules on abandonment

Whilst I'm mot arsed if its played again or not, had the ref done his job properly then they wouldnt have scored the second goal so there would have only been the 1 goal in it with stoppage time still to play. You think in the 4-5 seconds between the players going down (which wasn't immediate) and ...

I'm not commenting either way on whether Saltmer is good enough or not but.... Can we stop with the "he's a good shot stopper"? They're all "good shot stoppers". You don't get anywhere as a keeper if you're not. This is the number one defence used for all rubbish goalkeepers. Sent from my Pixel 2 us...

Some positive news on Hunt by the sounds of it. Marc Iles, journalist for the Bolton News, is tweeting that family and friends say he’s left hospital with no lasting injuries. That's great news. It sounds like the right precautions were taken, let's hope he's back playing again soon. Sent from my P...

Re: Holness returns

Not bitter at all. Anyone has the right to try to better themselves in any walk of life. Maybe no other central midfielders were signed because AA was happy with who he had. Unfortunately Hatfield and Atkinson have suffered injuries so the situation has changed and Omar has returned having failed t...

Re: Holness returns

It’s the truth and if you find it offensive that’s your problem. With Hatfield Wheatley Reid Atkinson and Hedley on the payroll there is no way we could offer a deal to Omar if they were all fit. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Because Holness is better than Reid, Atkinson and Hedley? In...

With Holmes out for some time he'd be a direct replacement I suppose. Holmes was probably viewed as filling the gap left by Thompson so probably always in the plan to get someone in to cover that role.

Re: Holness returns

I remember him playing right back a handful of times (not necessarily from the start) last season, and has played in offensive and defensive midfield positions to suit our shape in different games, but I'm not sure if call him a utility player. But then these terms, and terms like 'natural' position...

Re: Holness returns

He is lucky that we happen to have a batch of injuries, so he has a second opportunity to prove his ability by playing & putting himself in the shop window. He is not lucky. When did it become luck to be asked to do a job when you are proven to be proficient at that job. To be fair, he may well not...

Re: Holness returns

He provides some valuable cover while Hatfield and Atkinson are out injured. It may be intended as no more than a short term arrangement for both parties until those two are fit - I can't imagine we can afford to commit to him long term from a financial point of view at the moment. He knows the mana...

He is in the last year of his contract, so if he wasn't going to be playing week in week out this season he could have left on a free anyway. So I think its just a case of cashing in while they can.
They'd get something at tribunal due to his age I think, although probably a nominal sum.
